Update: I have reached into the Godot tag stack Shadow Realm and achieved a typewriter effect by using get_total_character_count still high-key mad about it tho

Now I have to figure out replacing brackets to sanitize BBCode input, but it can't be a simple string replace because nothing about this can ever be straightforward I don't believe in luck or fate or anything like that but The Journey for Happiness Ends from Octopath 2 started playing and, man,

Crashing out over Godot's RichTextLabel tag stack because it apparently sends whatever you add to it to the fucking Shadow Realm and you can't get it back as regular-ass text

If you add something to the tag stack it becomes some unknowable Final Shape that you can pull the text from WITHOUT the tags on it but not WITH the tags, and I need it WITH the tags to be added as text so I can achieve the print effect I've wanted from the beginning This has made me Actually Mad

I want to get an emote and add it to a text string. I know how to get the emote and make it into an Image, then ImageTexture (these are 2 different things) that Godot uses. But it has to be a Texture2D (this is a 3rd thing) for Godot to recognize it, which it won't do through BBCode because it

All new art from now on will now be revealed through the medium of Jet Set Radio on the Sega Dreamcast

While I've been trying to kick my brain back into creative gear, I've also been looking at speech-to-text transcription in Godot, and the situation is DIRE I've only turned up a VOSK option which hasn't been updated in several years and only uses C# (I've only learned GDScript until now) -

- and is painfully slow. The other option uses Whisper via a local model and I don't feel good about that considering it's OpenAI and their source is "around the web" which means, y'know, theft My parents used Dragon Naturally Speaking over two decades ago, this seems like a solved problem

You can insert your own art into Jet Grind Radio, available now for the Sega Dreamcast. The cops literally can't stop you from doing it

The process is a little complex, but not that bad. Extract files from your Very Legal Rip of the game, use the JSR Graffiti Tool to replace the files you want, rebuild it. The hardest part is figuring out what tools you want to use for extraction and rebuild and Z-fighting textures on emulators

I've become an old man that likes to read the arguments for/against propositions even when I know exactly how I'm gonna vote already, mostly because the ones that are easy layups have the funniest / most clownshoes arguments from people who know they're fucked at the polls

"Politicians spend too much, taxing the top 2% richest Californians won't help!" Don't worry dawg I have more than enough energy to hate both groups, I can "yes, and" this one

Been slowly pulling myself out of a mental hole over the last two weeks, and was kinda hoping I could will myself into an art stream this morning, but I think I need a bit more time before I'm ready to be "on" for something like that Got some big ideas but they need to cook a little longer, I think

Told myself I was done with reworking stuff the other day, this was incorrect Mentals have been rough lately but I've been focusing on smaller things, like randomizing Bun-E03's glasses on her casual outfits in certain scenes #Art #Godot

Deadman Danny is a character that I don't think I'd be good with at my current level of skill in Deadlock but holy shit his kit is so much fun to use and he fits that obnoxious little bastard archetype I love so much

"Generative AI is bad but it made Bloodborne run at 60 FPS on PC so who can say if it's truly bad" is the sort of A Little Treat for Me moral flexibility I've come to expect from the Gamerspace™ that will fold at the slightest inconvenience and operates on the principles of jingle keys

It is so incredibly easy to not support the use of these things and feed into the attention economy Buy 6 indie games for the price of one AAA title Go through that backlog of games from Steam sales from 2018 Fire up your favorite [real hardware] and enjoy some games from consoles and PCs past
