Retrospect 1990s Life

Fun trip to #BlakeIsland that we traveled to during most summers. I was talking to a local Seattleite who said he didn't know about this island despite living here for decades. I found that rather shocking! #PNW #Sailing #MiddleSchool #ClimbingTheMast #Rowing #SeattleDayTrips #90sStussy #Teen

Every year we would travel from #Seattle down to #CannonBeach, #Oregon. On the way down we would often #sight-see such as going to a place called #Camp18 that looks as though it was inspired by the #OregonTrail. I wonder what it is like today? It looks like a really fun spot to visit!

Our 1992 sailing trip going to #FridayHarbour, #RocheHarbor, and other locations around the #SanJuans. So many #GoodMemories! #90s #1990s #RetroCamera #WashingtonState #SummerTime #Tween #MiddleSchool #Vacation #PNW #PacificNorthwest #Swimming #HavingFun #WalkingTheTrails #SeaPlanes #KittyCat

Kim Thayil: We always had a warm spot for kids’ educational television. We always said if we were asked to do something on Sesame Street, we would do it, and that’s no joke. #90sAlternativeRock #Grunge #BillNye #Kid'sTV #Rock #AlbumProduction #90sRock #Soundgarden #Superunknown

Fun sailing memory with my friend Luke Grunberg and his sister Amber when we were middle school age. We took a long time to jump off this little bridge but after we realized it was safe we started jumping off a whole bunch! #FunSummers #GrowingUp #Adolescence #MiddleSchool #Teens #Sailing #PNW

As someone who started writing larger works my research lead me to a surprising connection between the words *#authority* and *#author*. This is a connection that I doubt hardly anyone seems to make in modern times yet it is worth examining where it started. #Etymology #LanguageArts #Books

This is a very early track from #STP. It's amazing it didn't make it on to an album or even as a b-side to Big Empty! It is considerably better then many of the tracks that would appear on their later albums. Some of their early albums could have been a touch longer featuring a track like this.

This looks like a great show to re-visit! I watched some of it but probably not every episode. Fascinating how even back in 1992 reading scores were starting to drop due to digital distractions long before the age of the smartphone. #GhostWriter #KidsReading #MiddleSchool #EducationalProgramming

I watched a retrospective on #BigCountry this morning. The narrator was going through their 80s albums and started prepping the audience that the 90s would be rougher for the band but this sounds great! I listened to this band a long time ago and remember there was more to them then their big hit.

This came up in my feed, I completely forgot he had a music career. #90sHits #FullHouse #90sDance

A good overview of #NoFearSportsGear. They started as "Life is a Beach" then became "Bad Boy Club." At their height they could have been bought out by #Nike but they didn't want their employees to lose their jobs. It was cool how they stood by a sponsored rider when he got badly injured.

Russell was a wonderful discovery this decade. They really knew how to make sweats right in the 1990s. #RussellAthletic #AthleticGear #Sports #Sweats

This was a fun game to watch this last weekend. I ended up watching Eckstein's game over watching the Superbowl even though Seattle played in it. No advertisements and front-row seats? What a great deal! #EcksteinBasketball #MiddleSchoolBasketball #SeattlePublicSchools #Basketball #Fun #GoEagles!

I just noticed that I had 92 posts on this account as I write a post about an album from 1992.

I just set up a YouTube channel where I will go over the details of my interactive book sites! It will include everything from illustration work, poetry, character animation and everything related to my projects. Subscribe now and I'll upload content very soon! #InteractiveBook #eBook #Poetry

A favorite 90s memory was discovering how awesome #Russell sweats are. I wore a friend's pair in middle school because I didn't gym clothes. At the time you'd have to pay about twice as much for their #sweats but with their durability, style and comfort it quickly became obvious why. 😊

Great album closer.

Just discovered this dance track in a Facebook post.

I watch The Pinker Panther between breaks in my work. This is a remix of his theme.

"Electrolite" was released as the third single from New Adventures In Hi-Fi in the US on this day in 1996. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Lew...

Just watched Menace II Society to see the kid some Air Raids similar to what I had. I loved those shoes. They go good with the charcoal sweats and that bright blue orange ball cap. #MenaceIISoceity #NineteenNintyThree #HughesBrothers

Found out about this 1991 song in a #DefLeppard interview. I know #BryanAdam's big hits but not all the deep cuts. To my ears it has the vibes of a couple of my favorite songs "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by #ThePolice (especially the introduction) and "Bristol Shores" by #EricJohnson.

It's nice to know what the November Rain music video was about. It did not make a whole lot of sense without all the context around it.

Lettering I did about a poem from the early 1990s.

New Sugar song.

I went to this crossroads, both literal and figurative, to think about Kai. When I got there I was so lost in thought that I just treated it like any intersection. I was so mad at myself for letting mundane everyday affairs get to the forefront of my mind when this was so much more momentous.

I've been working on heading graphics for my introduction blurb page for over a year. I didn't expect it to take so long but for some reason the graphic with positive type on the top, negative see through type on bottom messed with my mind a little bit! #BookSky #InteractiveBook #HandLettering

I love these psychology videos that go deep into the lyrics of a song. Especially when a song has many different meanings or is open to varying interpretations. #ToolBand #H

I forgot about the scenes from this movie. It was good to revisit this memory with the cast of kids that played it.

I wanted to get a lesson on the #HooKShot before going out to play #Basketball today. This video seemed particularly helpful.

One of my favorite parts of this project was when I started writing poems on the many students I grew up. By thinking back on them again it got me to look into what they are doing now. I found someone from my sixth grade homeroom and I enjoyed reading his blog posts yesterday.

I didn't know the story on how this video came together. Pretty fun story!
