Sadly, the headlines this week remind us that when money incentivizes issues of decency, decency flies out the window while the pockets of politicians are nestled with perks. Can it be that no one cares about right/wrong anymore?

Please make sure you read and share this.

I saw the whole thing. All it was was a lineup of cars with some crosses along the way and it went for miles. It was a memorial for people that were killed. This is not a genocide. The genocide happened during the apartheid. I just happen to be in South Africa in 1994 so I know a little something

I had a surprise this very cold February afternoon when an EasternTowhee came barreling onto my deck and landed on my feeder. He only stayed a couple of seconds before barreling off wherever birds that are totally never seen this time of year go to. Has anyone in New England seen one in Feb?

I know all too well the generation of Kennedys that were the entitled spawn that grew up after me on Cape Cod. We were members of the same Hyannis parish. My family is interred in their cemetery. RFK Jr’s lack of caring for others is no surprise. His brother paralyzed a girl for life- on Nantucket.

All of America is focused upon the waters of the Potomac as people rush to find survivors of the collision of the American Airlines commercial jet and a Blackhawk helicopter, near the 14th street bridge. Let us lay our differences aside and realize that our lives can be altered in a moment.

Trump Fired Highest-Ranking Woman in Military at His Ball Source: TheDailyBeast The level of cruelty that DJT likes to dish out is sadistic. This 40 year career officer was informed of her firing as she stood on line to shake Trump’s hand. Her offense? support of DEI policies- Coast guard.

On this 77th New Year’s Day of my life, I began to remember what made it memorable some 70 years ago being a kid in Central New York when the clock read 12:00. The city’s factories cranked out good shoes and air conditioner components. At midnight then you opened windows to hear the factory whistles

Finally, some rest and peace for Jimmy Carter. Regardless of what people thought of his presidency, I think most of us saw how he lived his faith for as many days as he was given to serve humanity.

I’ve been surprised, since joining Bluesky, the number of men who want to be “friends.” Let me be clear. I’m a pastor who’s been married to the same guy for 55 years. The photo shows you who I am. Still want to be actual friends? Then let me know.

Not that I needed any more reason, but the disgusting “X” site comments about the assassination of the insurance CEO the morning in Manhattan absolutely horrified me about the level of depravity the site has achieved.

For my clergy colleagues and just so others understand the toll that border patrol takes on the agents.

I’m curious what the role of the chaplain is here. Is the goal to help folks cope? Is it to allow folks to process and move through awful situations? The fact it’s formed from folks already within makes me think it’s trying to use spirituality to smooth a conscious asked to do terrible things.

Part of the role, as you see from the article, is helping the agent identify the mental and psychological damage already done and help repair where possible. Self-hate, alcohol abuse, damaged marriage. Chaplains help them cope with guilt from denials, deaths, that are part of the job.

This is the kind of job that can have negative impact on many levels, like being reassigned to the Mexico border and leaving your family up north; separating families, discovering an entire dead family frozen on the Canadian border. Yes-it comes with the job, but chaplains can let them know we care.

I’ve not pulled the plug on that other site, but when I’ve checked in, the amount of hatred toward others and violent posts just keeps on escalating. It boggles the mind. I never knew that our country was this ugly in the shadows.

The dark eyed juncos have returned to their winter feeding grounds on my deck. Little travelers from the subarctic and ours till next March. Too bad that the bears arent hibernating yet, so we can’t put the feeders out in the woods yet.

I’ll be interested to see the posts on this feed. I hold two Masters degrees from Yale Divinity School (M.Div and St.M),and most recently a Doctor of Ministry from Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.

A question for both clergy and lay people on this site: are you doing anything creative for the members of your church or the community for people who are alone on Thanksgiving/ Christmas/the holidays?

My body and knees tell me that I did something today I’ve never done before even as pastor for 12+ years. I climbed the church tower of our Danbury church all the way to the big bell! Long, scary ladders!

I’m curious if any of the people who have come over from what used to be Twitter are still holding on to their accounts there. I haven’t cancelled mine (if I can figure out how). But it strikes me that people who assumed Trump was just being flamboyant are seeing he was serious about burning itdown.

So glad to have been guided over to this place from the gates of hell. I’m senior pastor for over 14 years of a progressive Christian church founded in 1696. A picture of my “pulpit puppy” Spirit:

You are up to date.
