Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

this is pretty strange, these two games released on the same day with almost the same name. Gameplay looks pretty much identical. I'm guessing its some kind of AI flip, but how would you know who copied who?

Implemented camera zoom so I start working on world generation. I think this world size should give me plenty of space! #gamedev #indiedev

Pathfinding is going to be interesting with this many tiles + destructible terrain. I can currently think of 2 options: pre-calculated graph of tile chunks or simply ignoring pathfinding and having some more primitive move patterns for the enemies that try to get around blocked paths

particles can now collide with the world and projectiles also function as light sources. I'm thinking its interesting to give the player some tools to see what's ahead briefly. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart

Well, this is what I was talking about! Remember, it's running on a 486DX2@66 (emulated with 86Box). #retrogamedev #gamedev #indiedev

Progress! Keyboard handling, character pipeline, drawing and scaling. This is an unlit test room with a placeholder character, but the game will have some fancy lighting. Thing is, this is actually much more than a plain sprite. Stay tuned... #retrogamedev #gamedev #indiedev

had an idea for dynamic lighting and shadows in my current prototype, quite happy with the result! (hope bsky compression is not going to kill this) #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart

If ya'll could boost my game I'd very much appreciate it! Trying to get to 50 reviews for the Steam algorithm. I already have glowing reviews from the likes of Raigan Burns (N++) and Daniel Linssen (Leap Year) and just need a handful more. Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/3641010/...

As we all know the game industry is going through very turbulent times, unfortunately this has also affected several members of our collective. The silver lining is that one of the largest rooms in our coworking space in Berlin will be available from September 1st. More info in thread...

Mass effect 2 is still in my backlog, I'm sure I will get around to it one of these days πŸ˜…

Apparently I stuck to consoles for a LONG time. Post a screenshot of your first 5 Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you Open the Steam client, click your name in the top right -> account details -> View purchase history and scroll down

Hooray! For all y’all new players on Switch: We’ve been doing A Year of UFO 50 since the initial launch, a weekly book club podcast, one game/episode per week. We’re almost at the end, but you should start at the start! Here’s our intro episode for the series: eggplant.show/ep-a-year-of...

πŸ’ Whoa, what's this?! UFO 50 is available right now on #NintendoSwitch! #UFO50 #IndieWorld

It has been so much fun to have people trying my game for the #gmtk jam and I'm very happy with the feedback lots of people seem to like the idea. Two things I have learned that I will make sure to improve next time: 1. ingame tutorial 2. balanced towards a 5-10min experience (depending on genre)

I thought my game was simple enough for people to understand, its easy to assume when you make something yourself. Next time I want to make sure player understand whats on the screen and which inputs to use without having to read a text outside the game.

I kind of want to participate in the GMTK gamejam, but I doubt I will have much time for it. How does anyone get anything done with kids and job on the side πŸ˜ͺ

Playing around with configurable camera constraints in my engine. Basically the same approach as Celeste where a level can be compartmentalized into multiple camera constraints. Its pretty neat already! #indiedev #indiegame #gamedev #pixelart #solodev

The great thing about writing your own level editor is that you can have it integrated in your game engine, so I can jump between playing the levels and editing with one button. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart

Implemented autotiling in my little level editor. Was quite a lot of code for something that on the surface maybe doesnt bring a lot, but I think if I want to create a ton of levels for this game its probably a time saver. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #pixelart #solodev

Currently testing a new color switch mechanic to replace the previous layer mechanic. Feels much easier to understand now. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart

I'd like to talk a bit about this a game I made, all done in plain C, using only single header libraries, and it runs in the browser too. It's called "Neon Lies" and it's a retro-futuristic cyberpunk story in a William Gibson style setting.

One of the inspirations for my game is this crazy looking memory game from DDR called form & farbe (shape and color). Found it in a second hand store in Berlin 10 years ago. #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart
