If it's true it'll be the first time. Hope he keeps the gloves off because that's what constituents want. Fighters.

Matthew Gertz@mattgertz.bsky.social

Unpopular opinion alert: Chuck Schumer deserves credit for keeping his caucus in line until Republicans folded.

It would say more if the Senators sworn to uphold the constitution and server the American people -- all of them -- would pull away from this poisonous lesion on the hide of Democracy and moreover, humanity.

The Senate should understand: There is no set of guidelines or rules that they can be trusted to carry out. Even if this is agreed to, compliance will be dragged out, faked -- there will be deceptions and violations that will go unaddressed and we're right back where we started. DEFUND! Full STOP!!

No, just no. There is no set of guidelines or rules that they can be trusted to carry out. Even if this is agreed to, compliance will be dragged out, faked -- there will be deceptions and violations that will go unaddressed and we're right back where we started. DEFUND! Full STOP!!

Here's our report from inside the Senate Democratic caucus, where the strategy to block DHS funding is set and the list of demands is expanding. prospect.org/2026/01/26/i...

The 7 Dems in the House that voted for ICE funding need to resign. Schumer, Durban, or any Dem not up for the fight we are in must resign. We cannot fund this gestapo. Full stop. Democrats are desperate for leaders that understand the fight and want to fight it.

Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan.bsky.social

Abolish ICE is now the moderate minimum position, Prosecute ICE is where Dems should be at next.

If we ever get power back, a just punishment for this wannabe warrior would be to be sent to the Ukrainian front. Then we'll see how much of a bad ass he is.

This is ok tho

To those blaming Walz for not mobilizing the Guard, he did that six days ago. I have to say it's disturbing to see people angry at Walz instead of the government agents that just executed a man. As though we should all be experts about what to do when a secret police force invades an American city.

As an American citizen who cares about democracy and justice I'm begging anyone out there that has any influence what so ever to please call for the resignation of Chuck Schumer. It is clear he has not the stomach, the savvy, nor the strategic and tactical sense to lead the fight.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mark Kelly notably declines to endorse Chuck Schumer as the leader of Senate Dems going forward

Vile cruelty and corruption on one side and feckless ineptitude on the other.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

We are headed toward martial law and the end of our democracy and I will never forgive the people in power who every step of the way told us it was all just fine and everything would work out swell as long as we kept pretending that nothing we have actually seen with our own two eyes was happening

That is hubris Hakeem . The party is not back. We the people want leaders that fight the fight we're in not the fight you want and I will scream from the mountain tops for yours and Senator Schumer's resignation if you cave to Republicans on the Budget.

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

“The Democratic Party is back?” No, Mr Minority Leader, DEMOCRATIC VOTERS ARE PISSED OFF. That’s the lesson from yesterday. Dem voters, not the Dem Party, carried the day yesterday. And it’s been this way since Trump won. Dem voters understand this moment. The Party doesn’t.

We need new leadership. Schumer and Durbin should step aside and let the fighters take over. You had four years to stop the insurrection and you failed. Step aside now for the good of the country.

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

Hey Democrats, it’s a bar fight. Defeating Trumpism/MAGA and defending democracy, decency, the Constitution, and the rule of law is a bar fight. Put away your PowerPoints, put away your Robert’s Rules of Order. This is a fucking bar fight Democrats. Time to get nasty. You in?

With all do respect senator, all you guys do is vent and wring your hands. We need new leadership that understands the fight and is willing to fight it. We need punches not posts.

Everything trump does is to create a narrative. His state media will paint Z as dishonest, disrespectful and undeserving of US aid. The reality is Z stood up to those fucking traitors and if there’s a god, trump’s little propaganda film will backfire and Z’s stature rises.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

WASHINGTON (AP) - Zelenskyy left White House without signing US-Ukraine critical minerals deal Trump had demanded.

Dems need charismatic leadership to replace those who failed to stop the insurrection. This is the people’s fight now; we need leaders that fight and inspire us to fight, not hand wringers and stern letter writers.

I appreciate this point of view but too little is being said about Dem leadership which if we’re being honest did far too little to stop the insurrection. Looking mostly at Schumer and Durbin who need to step aside and make way for leaders who understand the fight and willing to fight it.

Understanding what the courts can do helps us understand what we must do. joycevance.substack.com/p/the-courts...

And we need new political leadership; Schumer, Durbin, others need to step back and let younger charismatic politicians who understand the fight and are willing to fight it, take the lead.

The UK has a shadow cabinet - political positions within the party that isn’t in power - and so should we. Plus, we need weekly press briefings led by @petebuttigieg.bsky.social on the state of the union. Business-as-usual time is over.

The intelligence agencies knew Trump was a traitor. Why didn’t they stop him in the name of national security? It would have justified.

This post is unavailable.

This makes my head explode. We can’t rely on republicans. Klobuchar and others simply hope good republicans wake up. How do we get out of this? We start by demanding effective leadership; Schumer and Durbin and others need to step aside, they did far to little to stop the insurrection.

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

Respectfully Amy Klobuchar, the words “courage” and “Republicans in Congress” do not belong in the same sentence. Lose whatever hope you have that they’ll ever do the right thing.

How do we get out of this? Do you believe we’ll even have midterms? I mean maybe we will, but will they be unrigged? And if they are unrigged enough such that we gain the house, will it be honored?

Thinking about all the unconstitutional actions the trump admin is perpetrating on Americans behind a vale of lies and how the Biden administration naively embraced bipartisanship, refusing to take even the minimal step of removing trump holdovers from critical positions, makes me want to scream.

We are desperate for heroes. I would love to see real leaders rise, not the hand-wringing stern letter writers that basically ignored nat sec and turned the country over to the insurrectionists. I remain skeptical of the FBI playing the hero here, too many holdovers from trump's 1st term.

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

The FBI has a massive opportunity to be the hero of this American story.

Indeed! Can anyone explain how it is that the keepers of national security will allow the highly compromised Musk and Trump along with the galaxy of criminals and insurrectionists orbiting them, take over control of the United States of America? I’m dumbfounded and sincerely want to understand.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

What this means is that right now the entire weight of our government should be bent on determining not only how frequently Elon Musk is having secret communications with Vladimir Putin (as the Wall Street Journal reports) but what he has told the Kremlin, what secrets of his the Kremlin has, and...

The rightwing propaganda machine brainwashed the minds of how many of those Trump voters? Not zero and not all, but certainly enough to swing the election.

Anne Applebaum@anneapplebaum.wsocial.eu

Thanks to the Republican Congress, and a tsunami of lies from Musk and others, the only US agency dedicated to tracking and exposing Russian and Chinese propaganda around the world ceases to exist www.france24.com/en/live-news...

The Biden administration, FBI, CIA, and many other agencies in the USIC community know about trump's ties to Putin, about his crimes, about his shitting on the Constitution. They know he is a traitor; and yet, he walks freely into the White House handing the keys to Putin. Why no resistance?

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

Trump has convinced millions & millions of Americans that the FBI is our enemy, the Justice Dept is our enemy, the intelligence community is our enemy, elections officials are our enemy, scientists & health officials are our enemy, military leaders are our enemy, and on and on. This is so damaging.
