I was interviewed by the wonderful @karinjr.bsky.social for the BFS. Highlights include referring to @aknighton.bsky.social as a "you magnificent fucker" for his writing which is probably a sign I should be more serious in interviews 😂

The latest issue of @bsfa.bsky.social's Fission, came out in June. @karinjr.bsky.social sat with its co-editor, @rickandwrite.bsky.social, to understand what he’s looking for in submissions & to get his take on the landscape for short fiction now. britishfantasysociety.org/ready-for-su...

Got to do an anthology launch in my home city of Hull for the first ever time! Had a great time for Challenging of the Tides. Also found out I talk to way too much with my hands. I don't know what to do about that 😂

My first ever novelette is sold and readying to enter the world along side a great list of authors :) I'm absolutely hyped for this!

I have a story in Challenging Tides which launches today! A solar punk Anthology from my local area with a great list of authors. Genuinely can't wait to read the stories :)

If you are aware of Fiona's work, you know this is going to slap. If you're not, then it's a great time to try it out :)

Today's the day, warriors of Rohan! My new book is OUT! Management Lessons from The Lord of the Rings is the management textbook you never knew you needed, but now you know, you have to have it! Buy, share, review; the Road goes ever on... adoctorofmanythings.wpcomstaging.com/2026/07/21/w...

I am delighted to read a review of fission here! Great to say all the wonderful stories getting a deserved moment in the spotlight :)

The Supernova Short Fiction Review@supernovareviews.bsky.social

Don't dismiss Fission, it's not just available to BSFA members, but also easy to find on Amazon. Alan found the latest issue to be superb, and he looks at all of the stories in his latest review.

I have another article out with the bfs! I've done a lot of research into something I do a lot in my fiction and it's oddly cathartic to sit down and work out one of my favourite tools for my fiction.

Prepping for his talk at this weekend’s Writing the Occult: Time & Place event, @rickandwrite.bsky.social asks what exactly it adds to your narrative when you isolate your characters in the one place no one can hear you scream for help. britishfantasysociety.org/writing-isol...

This is just two weeks away and I'm incredibly excited for it! I've got everything prepared and we are ready to go.

Lauren (LJ) McMenemy@laurenwrites.bsky.social

This is the world in which British Science Fiction Award-winning @rickandwrite.bsky.social will take us for Time & Place. He says: “This workshop will explore the advantages and tools on offer or writing a setting isolated in space.” All on Zoom. All welcome. All details: writingtheoccult.carrd.co

I just wrote what I consider to be the best story I've written and sent it off. Unfortunately, I also thought this for for the last 4 stories I wrote. So either I'm improving at a dramatic rate or I'm just very at judging my my own work 😂

This. It is always good to air concerns. But if people could leave hands off the pitch forks for two seconds to ask a question or two clarify that would be great.

One of my favourite pubs in York is mentioned in Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell on account of it being 400 years old. As such they have a framed copy in the pub and it always makes me smile.

I am booked to do a workshop about writing isolation in space and I am absolutely hyped about it 🙌

Lauren (LJ) McMenemy@laurenwrites.bsky.social

Not all places arrive fully populated & within easy reach - especially in space. What extra flavour can a spacey SF setting bring to your stories of isolation? We've got SFF author and editor @rickandwrite.bsky.social joining us to explore the outer reaches of isolation in fiction. Meet him ⬇️

Absolute hats off to @bonabooks.bsky.social for making a mistake and owning it. I didn't think we had a lot of ai submissions for fission but I'm now quite worried we did and I just missed them.

AI fraud nearly derailed our next anthology. Today we’re talking about what went down, the things we missed, and publishing the report we wish we’d had when it happened. Read all about it on our new blog, and download the full report:

@bsfa.bsky.social Fission #6, my editorial debut, is now available for purchase by non-BSFA members! Members can find it for free on the BSFA section. I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I did. It's a wonderful array of stories. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1068721634

I won't lie when I said I wrote this mostly as an excuse to rewatch stranger things. I have no regrets on that! Cheers for @britfantasysoc.bsky.social and @laurenwrites.bsky.social for publishing :)

Congrats to @slashnburnett.bsky.social on a happy book day! Her short fiction is among the best going and I've been so excited for this :)
