What a cock-up! R4 Today: that's what you get for letting 'Adenoids' Mason loose to spread rumour and gossip without any critical caution - God is listening. An utter joke of untrammelled voice-overs and dialogue superimposed on the live steam. Such quality.

Following mad tory Rob Buckland trying to skewer Labour over jury trials, we now get Jeffrey Archer 'commenting' on Labour policies on flagship BBC radio show. "Yes, Sir!! Can bally well do! How long?" And for 'balance'? Lady who wrote 'Vera'. I see. By Heck.

🚨 Overfishing concerns have reached such intense levels that 58 of the world’s largest seafood businesses have just issued warnings to the UK Govt & the fishing industry to act sustainably. It's time to #EndOverfishing 🐟 insideclimatenews.org/news/0610202...

Interesting read in the i paper today: Emma Barnett to leave R4 Today after just two years (though she has recently recovered from surgery). The (mutual) friction with Robinson must also be a factor in her decision. I agree she would be better used as a lead, whilst Today continues its sharp turn

.. rightwards, losing listeners like some moulting old crow. Zeffman and Adler may be offered a full-time seat now - perhaps both in light of the recent loss of the garrulous but bright Amol Rajan. What used to be essential morning listening now runs for 15-20 minutes, tops, on my radio. Shame.

Well said, Miliband. A thoughtful speech in which not only certain Israeli interests are targeted but also those outside Israel which strive to cause Israeli bloodshed, too. The crucial concept of a two-state solution would be lost without readdressing the current situation, as other nations concur.

I await the opposition response with a sort of tired anticipation of ad hominem attacks and hopscotching around salient facts: here at last is an issue opponents can join with the government to amplify the message, but they will not do so.

Have to see if I've got this right: Labour officials are 'hounded from office in disgrace'; Conservatives are 'reshuffled'; Reformists 'step down' after criminal activity is evidenced? OK, then ...

I've just read that Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library have given away 332 million books to children as at present. Take her name out your mouth, Trump: you're not worthy.

Always Struck Me as Odd (#78) Why, when lovingly filmed in an actual church or cathedral, are the two actors in a motion picture or TV prog not married in the eyes of God, where the formal lines of the marriage ceremony have been recited? After all, He permits it between two who detest each other?

The current rash of quarter-baked proposals and sob-stories from Reform is surely to be expected from a party taking their inspiration (and possibly orders) from Trump in obfuscating and displacement of embarrassing, unwanted press and peer attention. Pitifully, the media is playing its part, too.

Just because Trump habitually uses the term 'Deal', it does not mean that journalists and broadcasters should use his term for deathly serious and difficult negotiations and formal agreements: ending wars, for instance. 'Agreement' or 'Treaty' are leagues above 'deal' in the scheme of things.

Would I change history to cancel any one person? Yes: the person who decided Velcro was suitable for closing back pockets in combat pants. I am sick and tired of getting up from a chair only to have a cushion stuck to my bum, with its cover in threads. I HATE you, anonymous Velcro proponent.

Can you help my friend and I identify what's made such lovely, neat holes in her leaves? Also see the bug hotel! We *think* we know, but would welcome your opinions, too β€” thanking you πŸ™

@supportblue An update solves playing GIFs and viewing most 'flat' images - playing videos and uploading 'flat' images still doesn't work (iOS). Please post anticipated duration, thanks

It appears to be 'Wankadoodle Day' ... why don't my calendars remind me? BBC stroking this for all it's worth. Can we have a moment's silence for Chris Mason being out of the country at this sad time? That's quite enough.

Yes, that's right, Admin: if you continue to show an account in your 'Suggested for You' for more than three months, despite my lack of interest and hiding it, then my subsequent muting will change to 'Block', as I've just done. I'm sure they are perfectly nice but 'not interested' means just that.

Incredibly, 50 years have passed since the delightfully bucolic Derek & Clive gave us their first ever album of live folk ditties. Veering somewhere between Pride & Prejudice, the jolly couple brought nothing to mind more than 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady'. Or part that title thereof πŸ€”

Why on earth do people still go on 'Today' on R4 when, right-wing excepted, they are not permitted to finish an answer in the face of unnecessarily rude and aggressive questioning? Even Anna Foster's at it now. We learn nothing from this approach other than the editor's own politics.

I know it's radio, but please may I have subtitles for Aston Villa's Unai Emery's post-match interviews? * asking for c. 16 million others ** not a clue

That's right, Mr Diamond, do presume to speak for the rest of the world in blaming Iran for Hormuz and the current conflict with Israel and the US on TWatO - do you think we are so stupid as to be taken in by your nonsense? Your guest wasn't. As a BBC presenter, you are expected to be neutral.

Montague toiling away at the shit-face, picture of Starmer marked 'Enemy of Reform' taped to her microphone stand. Come Hell or high water, she, her BBC cronies and the many political-opponent-guests will do everything in their power to remove and destroy Starmer. "WatO: Cheaper than Reform Subs!"

Such a lovely day, made even better by a lonesome blackbird's glorious song from my chimney. So I nipped in to find my Observer book of British Bird Song and here's what it said:

Wel i wok up this mornin an mi woman shi wazn ther Wel i wok up this mornin an mi woman shi wazn ther Butt i sor bastud bob pikin out hir nitz out hr har So i tolld him oi pis of an getcha rown bird wel i tolld him oi pis of an getcha rown bird An e sed i got one yorz fanks or encha rurd?

Wel lordi gi me de bluz mi woman she shur dun gon Sed lordi gi me de bluz mi woman she shur dun gon So I pekt of bobz ed an now im tha lonsm one [Repeat x 11]

With all the armed, existential conflicts acting out, BBC World at One devotes its entire opening 30 minutes to the number of raging angels dancing on the Mandelson pin-head and makes damn sure Starmer's opponents get 90% of it to imply, smear and lie without a bit of evidence. Rien ne change, alors

Well judged searchlight on the MO of the right-wing media. Well worth a few minutes to read, imho:

Did you see this headline? Did you feel the requisite anger and rage at asylum seekers that The Sun was asking of you? Did you maybe blame Starmer because.... um... it was probably his faultπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Would you like to know the reality behind the headline? Course you would!😜 Let's take a look 🧡 1/25

I'm finding it hard to stay calm at every BBC news programme: today's irritant is that second-rate Nick Eardly claiming Jim Ratcliffe's contention re immigrants is actually valid because Farage and Stride say it is. To be corrected by Sarah Montague over the scale of immigration is for shame.

Then, Grand Dame Chris Mason appears, of course shit-stirring (as ever) about changes to Starmer's staff - the same Starmer whom Mason trumpeted would probably be gone by now. I thought I heard the tiny violin droning a dirge in the background, harmonising with his adenoidal theme statement. 🎻
