I'm glad the Lula won in Brazil, but god it's so awful that Zuckerberg and Musk, so closely tied to the American government, will do this anywhere, all the time, every time.

Summon the team with "To me my ex-men!"

Should give me access to X-Men as a property, I'll put Jacqueline Gavin and/or Jessie Drake in it, obscure trans mutants from the 90s who were in one comic each in the 20s. You can trust me.

Playing Resident Evil 2 (1998) Leon A/Claire B. And upon first seeing a licker on the ceiling Leon goes "Oh boy!" That's great, not brought up enough as a PS1 Resi line.

Feel embarrassed that I didn't put together that the punks Xaria and Monty in Look Outside were a reference to Xzar and Montaron from Baldur's Gate until reading TV Tropes after finishing the game.

Man, I should play Baldur's Gate 1 and keep Xzar and Montaron with me. Cause I usually don't keep them around that long, I want to grab Khalid and Jaheria. Also I like Imoen as a Thief or Gorion's Ward last time I played. But could be fun.

There's probably a really good case study in comparing common criticism of Dragon Age 2 & The Veilguard. 2 had people hate Jennifer Hepler, call her fat, ugly etc and men complained about Anders hitting on them. But said misogyny and homophobia were rarely seen as the core of why games were "bad"

Pillars of Eternity & Avowed similar deal. Criticism of systems and progression, plot and quests, the setting, etc. "Removed transphobic backer poem" was a footnote. Not played Avowed yet and have stayed in the dark. But still hating Carrie Patel and there's gays in it bubble to the surface

Wonderful part of Look Outside has been checking social media and seeing people who've looked outside and transformed into monsters bullying those who haven't. Turning into a horrible monster because you want to know what all the horrible monsters were talking about is how a few of us would go out.

Just imagine I went to the effort of making a VGMV of Bioware games set to Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) I say this because I predict in the coming days I basically will see this somewhere then feel sad.

Bioware closing sucks man. Post Veilguard gutting makes it less of a shock, but it's weird to live in a world without them. Dragon Age: Origins was key in making me love my favourite genre. The precariousness of working in games just piles up. Bioware was so big for the Canadian games industry.

Halsin getting kidnapped in BG3 for me really was just like huh, Halsin? He was still with us? Thought he might have stayed behind after we lifted that curse in Act 2. Halsin? He knows Jaheira came with us, we're good for Druids. Halsin? I guess we'll probably rescue him. I mean, eventually anyway

I feel bad catching this after calling Dawnwalker the wrong name for like a month, but the opening credits for Penguin Colony calls the story "A Shadow Out of Time" instead of "The Shadow Out of Time" And I immediately went "That's wrong." Store page is correct though.

Put "A" or "The" at the start of your story title and it's your own fault for people won't say it Devs were probably always calling it "Shadow Out of Time" same way I do. See also "Dreams In The Witch House" "Shadow Over Innsmouth" "Call of Cthulhu" But when you're paid by word, you put in a "the"

There's so much fascinating gender around GTA VI without the game even being out yet. Like I'm sure the amount of having to disclaim "Don't worry, you don't have to do all this mushy romance stuff" is dealing with men who'd declare in so many words "Going on dates with a woman? That's so gay."

Might shock you that genderfluid person also has thoughts on gender and embodiment in games. But what's weird is how much "I can't play a girl" feels like a recent phenomenon. Everybody was playing Tomb Raider on PS1. And I doubt they felt it reflected on their masculinity to embody a woman there.

Embodiment is such a strength of video games as a medium. Literature has strength when it comes to the internal perspective on a character's mind. But for the experience of being in a specfic body, in specfic circumstance... There's a reason SOMA is a better game than it would anything else.

People say Jonathan Blow doesn't understand women. But that's not true. Braid shows us he understands they want to be as far away from Jonathan Blow as humanly possible.

Still not quite sure what a Deadlock is (an Overwatch style hero shooter?) having never seen a second of gameplay but the lesbians seem to be liking it so I'm happy for them.

Wearing my "I paused my video game; specifically Cultic (2022) by Jasozz Games a Boomer Shooter that is in the style of Blood with a lot of influence from Resident Evil 4, it's really good I've been liking it, to be here" to the work event this evening.

Civil War II might be the stupidest Marvel crossover event because it has characters take two absurd positions of "Because the future can be changed all predictions should be ignored" and "Arrest people for future crimes." Like future predictions are new or there aren't less drastic interventions.

I don't think Civil War is all that good, but at least it's about something The Patriot Act, specifically. Now I think that defending the Patriot Act is bad, but again at least characters have positions CW II is just "Lets have a big scrap because a film based on Civil War is in the cinema."

A character in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion calls another person a "fascist pig" (during the Whodunit? quest) which is like throwing a grenade at attempts to make sense political ideology on the continent.

The title of the game was so roll off my brain I didn't realise until after I finished it that it was called "The Blood of Dawnwalker" and not "Blood of the Dawnwalker" which is what I had been saying.

I think there's Obsidian fans and there's Obsidian fans (Just New Vegas, then disliked Outer Worlds) I wasn't super hot on Outer Worlds 1. Haven't played 2 yet. Pillars, Tyranny, Pentiment, actually have put out great games since 2010. The narrative that it's nothing good since NV is, come on now.

(I have no ill will towards the guy, he made a game I think sucks, whatever) A lead at The Chinese Room framed Bloodlines 2 as "Oh we can't make Bloodlines, but we *could* make Dishonored" and ignore what Bloodlines 2 is actually like for a second, is a fucking insane statement. What do you mean?

I love Bloodlines, but levels tend to be sprawling warehouses or parking lots where guys just kinda stand about. It has charm. But like Dishonored has some of the best designed levels in any game, buildings, sightlines, everything. The idea that it would be easier or more achievable is like, what?

Dawnwalker's timer has been good generally, but it is really beneficial to the "disrupt enemy activities, kill the lieutenants, eventually take on the big boss" setup because it encourages not doing everything Without it people would do every small activity, resent it and would seem less believable

I have majorly disrupted their system for gathering blood I have not destroyed everywhere blood is harvested, stored, transported, every guard outpost and patrol in the region, then have the guy in charge of blood collection go "Hmm, you're becoming a bother." with his operation already obliterated

Strange how the idea Ubisoft are going with for a slower, more tactical Rainbow Six game is Turn Based XCOM-like instead of say Rainbow Six I know they've gotten used to Rainbow Six being Counter Strike. And was some 3rd person shooter for a bit. But I swear at one point Rainbow Six was Rainbow Six

You know that thing when you're a trans woman where you're simultaneously far more vulnerable to violence than you were but are also now monsterised to be perceived as the cause of said violence or actually really dangerous and people are scared of you? It's not great.

Don't know what other romance options are kicking about. Maybe there's a guy, or a vampire, or a guy vampire! But jokes aside, actually is kinda refreshing seeing a ~20ish guy and a ~40ish woman in a game when I'm far more used to the inverse of that.

Obviously a lot of things factor in to players not using consumables in games and there's all kinds of consumables. But I do think bad at percentages can play a part. Thinking there's no point taking +10% accuracy potion for a boss when you have 80% accuracy, because 80% is a "sure thing" afterall.

The way to relieve this is Ludovico Technique conditioning where people are forced to roll 95% XCOM:EU attacks thousands of times until their brainwaves show that they have accepted True Probability.

Anyway, he's right and he should say it. Also Pillars did a lot of good stuff with like "grazes" so it feels less all or nothing People only remember things that have emotional weight, unlikely loss, poor streak. You don't remember the numerous unremarkable high chance to hit, hits, that went fine

Practicing social distancing rules around mortals so we can talk while making it clear I don't intend to bite into them and drain them like the delicious blood filled ribena cartons they are.

Started Blood of the Dawnwalker, just out of the prologue. Starting thoughts, cool! Vampire: The Dark Ages style game to make up for last year's Bloodlines 2. Timer seems an excellent addition, at least was in prologue. But am a little concerned how training certain skills will also take up time.
