The state of webfishing makes me so fucking sad man. A friend found one of my business cards from 13 years ago

I know I’m being very negative about the Zelda remake but it’s just baffling to me that people really want to act like the issues I have with it are stupid or wrong when it’s so glaringly obvious that they aren’t as concerned about preserving the artistic vision of the original

I hate to say it but if you’re excited for the ocarina of time remake and think it’s a good representation of the original you just care more about pretty graphical upgrades than artistic vision in a game. This remake is sacrificing so much of the original style of the game for the sake of realism

Every time I see the game my opinion gets worse and worse, yes some areas are very pretty, but the game lost all visual identity the original had, which the 3ds remake did a pretty decent job keeping. Young link looks nothing like young link and dark, gritty areas are bright and cheerful looking

The areas that had vibrant rich colors now have bland greys and desaturated greens, wooden ladder puzzles get replaced with stone eye puzzles that look clunky and out of place. But thank god we get to see the individual fibers in link’s overdesigned outfit that’s exactly what the original lacked!

Won’t lie my opinion on the OoT remake keeps shifting but I just saw side by sides and yes the remake has some really high quality graphics but a lot of the colors of the original got replaced with generic bland color choices idk. A lot of stylistic choices in the original just aren’t there anymore

Sorry to harp on it and sound so negative but the game is just NOT doing it for me. Link is way over designed and yet his face looks like a porcelain doll, sheik lost his androgyny(saying he because sheik is referred to as he not her), only redesign I like is ganon.

Castle town is really the only part that looks good, kokiri looks TERRIBLE just so bland and foggy and looks so much like a generic UE5 game. The trailer looks cool but apart from cinematic shots of link the game seems lackluster and far short of my hopes for a 40th anniversary celebration of Zelda.

Ocarina looks good but the characters lowkey are the ugliest part of the game and it kinda feels like a stylistic clash between the hyper realistic setting and the cartoony looking characters. I’m sure the game will be fun but it just looks like Link Visits New Hanover

I think the game is very pretty and I know it’ll be good because it’s ocarina but it’s hard for me to get over how out of place the characters look in the world
