Phase one of the project has been completed thanks to support from the Australian High Commission. The pump, solar panels and hoiding tanks have been installed. The second phase is to fund water pipes to deliver the water to several spots within the village.

TRUMP: "Our country is getting stronger and stronger" We've retreated from bases in the Middle East and in the UK. We've run down critical weapons supplies. Iran has determined our Navy fleet assignments and a critical shipping route, the Persian Gulf, is closed. Stronger how?

A former senior trial attorney in the D.O.J.’s voting section on Trump's efforts to undermine or control the midterm elections. “There’s malevolence, but there’s a lot of incompetence,” That pretty much sums up the entire administration, doesn't it?

Journal of Finance in 2022: " the danger signal is rapid growth in borrowing plus rapid growth in asset prices in the same sector over three years." Private borrowing in Australia is experiencing significant growth, reaching an all-time high of 1452.36 AUD billion in August 2026. Housing prices?

The chances of the Democrats taking over the Senate hinge on multiple races in which they are ahead by a tiny percentage or even in a dead heat. It will all depend on voter turnout. Trump is desperately trying to rowse his base. They aren't going Dem, they're mostly staying home. Vote.

NYT: Trump Is Still Chasing His Yalta. Here’s What He Doesn’t Get. " Mr. Putin is trying to transform an unwon war into diplomatic concessions that the United States has no authority to give — and no ability to deliver." Selling out Ukraine for an imagined Yalta 2.0 with him in a leadership role.

To that portion of the population that still supports Trump and thinks he's doing a good job: Don't you get it? His economic policies and his international relations poiicies have combined to give us higher inflation, made us untrusted among our former allies and moved us closer to Russia. WTFU!

The Economist: SpaceX’s Starlink expansion is a bold gamble on the future Elon Musk is betting that robotics will dramatically increase demand for connectivity With him in control? I don't think so.

NYT: The Midterms Look Dark for Republicans. Their Future Looks Brighter. Making a "new" Republican party using the same politicians who have followed Trump is like making a new coat out of rags. You can present it as new, but we can see where it came from.

So Brazil is being asked to elect another Bolsonaro who is going to be "tough on crime". His father is in prison for trying to stage a coup when he lost an election. Will a pardon be Jr"s first tough on crime act?

No one who saw Kimberly Gilfoyle's speech at the Republican convention will believe she was getting paid for speaking engagements. Also, why the secrecy? Trying to avoid paying income tax?

NYT: Some Republicans Reject Trump’s Move to Import Diesel Fuel From Russia Candidates in tight races. It's almost enough for them to stop backing Trump's every move - almost. For now, concern will have to do.

Or try to early vote. At least we are in a state I trust them to count all the votes.

Federal judge shuts down Trump DOJ’s nationwide voter roll crusade, even in states that cooperated This midterm election will be the test for the strength of democracy. We need a massive turnout to overrule any attempts by the administration to steal the election.

NYT: How a U.S. Diplomat Suppressed and Altered Reports Critical of Israel I think he may be confused as to which country he represents. He's not the Israeli ambassador's staff in the US.

On the third anniversary of the attack in Israel by Hamas that killed 1209 people, it's time to look at the response by Israel. You don't kill 74,000 people, including more than 20,000 children by mistake. This is not acceptable collateral damage, it is ethnic cleansing.

NYT: Justice Dept. Turns to Partisans and Conspiracists to Fill Depleted Ranks Cleaning up the DOJ is going to be a major challenge for the next administration. We will need people like Jack Smith and Jasmine Crockett to lead the efforts.

BBC: White House defends Trump comment to let Iran 'take out' LA and San Diego "They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego" What part of that says, "I prevented this from happening"?

My daughter's contribution: "Did you or did you not capture and torture Morpheus in an attempt to extract information about the location of Zion?" "No, that was Agent Smith in The Matrix"

NYT: U.S.-Russia Talks on Ukraine Now Involve an Oil Deal Tied to Trump Allies. Involvement by Kushner and Witcoff in peace negotiations (as civilians) was already a questionable approach. Having them negotiate business deals with Putin means it's no longer a "question" of conflict of interest.

NYT: ‘Ready to Blow His Stack’: How Biden Nearly Cut Off Netanyahu Over Gaza So he nearly did the right thing and nearly stopped Netayahu's war on all Palestinians. I'm nearly grateful.

I don't remember sleepy joe constantly falling asleep. Maybe he would stay awake more often if he would stop ranting and tweeting in the middle of the night. Remember, he is just the figure head. You have to watch the people behind the scenes eg. VOUGHT, MILLER

Hegseth: "The ideological clowns are out". Look in the mirror. The ideological clown is in charge and destroying the US military readiness. All while running it out of experience and munitions.

NYT: In Wooing Wavering Hispanic Voters, Trump Talks ICE, His Ballroom and Himself His favorite subjects. Further evidence of his tonedeaf approach to the public's concerns.

NYT: Ken Paxton said that “everybody’s numbers dropped” after Trump’s Convention Maybe people took Trump's call to heart and pretended he was on the ballot. Another sign that the reckoning is coming. Defend the election and keep voters safe.

My take from the Smith hearings: To be a GOP senator today, you have to be a lying piece-of-shit, who puts loyalty to party & our lying piece-of-shit president, above their oaths to the Constitution & their obligations to tell the truth & do what rights to the American people! Repost if U agree

At a time when the most influential leaders of the U.S. need to stand up loudly and clearly for the rule of law, they are leading the charge in the opposite direction. But not Jack Smith. Kudos to him for continuing to be a much needed voice of clarity.

NYT: Democrats in Congress Embrace a More Punitive Posture Toward Israel How about we start by witholding the bunker buster bombs and other weapons they have been using to commit war crimes and ethnic cleansing. Then we can get into a study group about policy.

If American voters don't fit into either of the two political parties neatly, ie, without some disagreements on issues, it's not the fault of the voters. Parties are supposed to be a collection of like minded voters acting as a block. Maybe we need more than 2 - or none at all to represent voters.

Central banks are raising rates "to subdue inflation". So can someone explain how increased borrowing costs and interest costs will end the war with Iran and the Houthis? It's clear that it will add to the burden on households struggling to pay rent and buy food. Which are they supposed to cut out?

NYT: Trump Gets Caught in a Dilemma Over a Saudi Plea for Military Help He may change his mind if the Saudis tell Kushner to refund their "investment" money. What did they pay for if not this?

The Senate Democrats blocked the House bill on AI electricity use. Republicans say they are for consumers, Dems aren't, but the House bill would direct state utility regulators to "consider" adopting federal rules. Dems want a bill with teeth and enforcement, not faux concern.

NYT: Trump Plans Blitz of $138 Million and Counting to Save Midterm Republicans Reading about being kicked by a mule is not the same as being kicked by a mule. Talking about spending money to support Republicans is not the same as spending the money. He's keeping it.

It's great that SCOTUS refused to overturn the lower court on Trump's bid to take over postal voting, but how about a ruling that says he has no Constitutional authority to set rules around it, so his order to the USPS is invalid and dead?
