Cat mom, wife of a U.S. Navy submarine veteran, and I love to read about history, especially European history. Times are uncertain, but my purpose is sure.

“If your concern for women disappears the moment accountability becomes socially inconvenient, then protection was never the principle to begin with. Performance was.”

Rose was a union gal, bless her. She was instrumental in getting NPR to hire me full-time, after years of them trying not to. You didn’t hear her voice, but you did. This sucks a lot. She made NPR so much better. www.npr.org/2026/09/18/n...

Why bagels get boiled before they're baked: the starch gelatinization step behind that shiny crust and chewy bite, a tradition carried from Eastern European Jewish bakers to New York breakfast tables.

One of French puppeteer Raphaël Gromy’s most recognizable performances features a puppet painting real artworks on canvas, blending puppetry, live performance, and visual art into a unique theatrical experience. 😊 IG: @artistsuniversum @raphael_gromy

The earliest form of marbling originated in Japan (and possibly China) around the 12th century. Known as Suminagashi or "floating ink"). As the trade routes evolved, the concept traveled to Central Asia, Persia (modern-day Iran). In Türkiye they call it ebru. IG: @thesoftasylum

Sharing a few kitten sketches that I’m especially fond of. A cat’s movement and stillness, its form and expression, can all be expressed through lines. Free-spirited cats call for free-flowing lines.#shouxinsketch #petart #animalart #illustrationartists #pet #sketch #sketchdaily

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

I have an update on Betty, the only person I’ve ever posted a GFM for because I know her so well. She desperately needs our help. If you can lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciate it. If not, I completely understand. A repost reaches far and wide, and it’s free. gofund.me/c20d8437e

This is Mr. Don Juan Mon. He arrived at the shelter with a fractured growth plate in his leg and a large hernia on his belly. To heal properly and grow into a strong adult dog, he needs surgery to repair both conditions. You can help him below ❤️‍🩹 1510.fan/donjuanmon-bsd
