I like this season's Document collection. Document is a Korean menswear brand that used to do minimalist-styled clothing that leaned heavily into distinctive silhouettes, although this season feels more heritage-y. In the US, they are carried at No Man Walks Alone and Namu Shop.

kind of crazy to me that my parents escaped vietnam during a war and arrived in north america, where they labored as a janitor and secretary so they could save enough money to send me to college, where i received a higher education, and now this is what i use my brain for

American conservatives are constantly bemoaning the decline of aesthetic standards and calling for a return to tailored suits and classical Roman architecture, but are now forced to defend the Cheesecake Factory. A constant tension between the Brooks Brothers patrician and the Kid Rock populist.

GOP does nothing but gin up culture wars. Meanwhile: — GOP slashed SNAP benefits to 5+ million Americans, forcing them to turn to food banks. — Trump's tariffs and war spurred inflation, making it more expensive to eat at The Cheesecake Factory. Prices are now ~13% higher than when he took office.

I grew up in a lower income immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster for "special days." But we also understood the White House should not look like the inside of Red Lobster. It's condescending to assuming working ppl are culturally illiterate bc their experience is shaped by their limited means.

thinking about how i wasted all this money on clothes when i could have invested this money in an index fund and eventually bought a senator like elon musk

Interviewed Erik Allen Ford, co-founder of Buck Mason, a brand I think is doing cool stuff at the moment. We talked about building a company around nerdy menswear products, Erik's love for vintage, and why so many great heritage brands have lost their way. pod.link/blamo/episod...

US garment workers helped pioneer multi-ethnic labor unions, which united people across racial, religious, gender, linguistic, and cultural divides. Also native-born citizens and immigrants. I think about that sometimes when I see people suggest such divides are unbridgeable.

vivek has some of the worst political instincts i've seen. back in the spring, an older conservative voter questioned his hindu faith. instead of appealing to our founding commitment to religious freedom (e.g., citing constitution), he tries to litigate theology with this man. kind of hilarious.

Getting so much news coverage of political candidates in states where I don't even live, but I can't name a single Republican policy that would improve someone's life. It's all about someone's religion, mom, or supposed vegan diet.

Depending on the yarn and fibers, a hand-knit sweater can be uniquely beautiful in a way that's not easily replicated by machine-made counterparts. Hand-knitting can result in a slightly uneven texture, which adds visual interest to an outfit. Machine-made knits can be quite flat in comparison.

Enjoyed seeing this woman's work. Sustainability isn't just about producer decisions, but also consumer decisions, namely their willingness to repair things when needed. This type of repair is easier on natural fibers, rather than stretch fabrics. Consider that when shoppping. IG loosethreadsrepair

Repairing clothing in the US can be expensive — sometimes exceeding cost of the garment itself — bc it's labor intensive. The denim repair above will also feel stiff at first. But results can be beautiful, add to the aesthetic, and allow you to develop better relationship with clothes.

i will be the judge of that

“The president kicked off most rallies this week by praising the appearance of Republican male candidates. (He seemed particularly enthralled by the backside of Senator Jon Husted, Republican of Ohio, bringing it up at two different rallies this week.)” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/18/u...

Q: Why are you scapegoating immigrants for the issues you're supposed to be solving as the vice president? JD VANCE: To the extent my rhetoric has been imperfect, that's on me

Almost certain Vance will run for prez in 2028. If he wins, he'll occupy a WH with a freshly built ballroom, where he'll wine and dine the tech oligarchs and post-liberal conservatives who help propel him into power. This will be a critical moment since this is when we might see AGI.

Whoever wins the WH will help determine critical questions: who reaps the gains of AI, whether the tech can be used for mass surveillance, and how much power a handful of tech companies can have over US society. Not great if prez is bedfellows w/ tech oligarch and ppl who don't believe in liberalism

Beautiful oilskin raincoat designed by Donna Zakowska and made by Eric Winterling for an upcoming film. Coat is beautiful bc it has a lot of shape — A-line silhouette with neat folds at back. This is a women's garment, but same principle applies to menswear. First two pics via IG ericwinterlinginc

if i take a walk in my little walkable neighborhood to buy fresh flowers and crunchy nectarines and my serenity is punctured by the sound of your tesla flipping in the air, i will blow up your car with a rocket launcher
