Responsible leaders must be honest with their societies. Russia is already waging a war against Europe by systematically targeting civilian environment - the systems that enable everyday life. These attacks take concrete forms:⤵️

ZELENSKY GETS IT

❗️Zelensky: We should not accept the idea that Europe is merely a salad of small and medium-sized powers, seasoned with enemies of Europe. When we are united, we are truly invincible. Europe can — and must — be a global force.

The reason is simple: We don't have 2000 soldiers. European countries need to not only acknowledge the fact that U.S. is no longer an ally, but also the urgent need for rearmament.

Denmark's gov & EU continues to be in complete denial over the threat from US. They still think #appeasement is a strategy. Its not. Its #copium and criminally neglect of duty. Venezuela is being robbed of its oil, while EUr&DK clapped. Why has DK not sent say 2000 soldiers to Nuuk already? >

OPLAN isn't that new, but still nice that some people in Berlin are waking up

I feel like someone has to explain to my fellow Europeans why waiting out Trump is not an option this time around (it wasn't a great idea last time, but very popular), a small thread: 1. Trump is only 1 year into his second term and has already done a lot of damage, to alliances, (1/13)

5. Ignoring all of the above, and hoping against hope that the next US president is a centrist, well meaning and capable leader, Europe would still be on its own. Massive damage has been done to the administrative state already. Institutions disbanded, hollowed out and positions filled with (8/13)

Then let's keep supporting Ukraine and prevent Trump from selling them out for long enough.

#ukrainianview RUSSIA INVENTS EXCUSES TO WIN OVER TRUMP The latest in a long line of derivative excuses was used on Monday when Trump had his second call with Putin. The later said that Ukraine had attacked one of his residences and he was “pretty upset about it”. Trump later said that this was why

as their primary concern! So even IF (and I hope points 1-4 have shown why I think that is a big if) a future administration would like to support our security vis-a-vis Russia and China, the safe and sane bet would be to take care of ourselves and thus be both a better partner for the US (12/13)

and have our position heard internationally. We must not and cannot rely on others to create the world we want to live in. Either we take that responsibility up ourselves or others will make those decisions for us. Not in our interest, but theirs. Rant over. Just my opinion, let's discuss (13/13)

vanity projects, personal corruption and ideological priorities. The world around the US will not have been standing still and America's adversaries will have made good on the opportunities afforded to them. It is more than likely that the next administration will be overburdened with (10/13)

domestic issues, an assertive China and whatever happens with Russia, plus any fires started in Latin Amercia or Africa by the Trump admin. With all that on their plate, it is extremely doubtful that the next president will have any spare capacity to deal with European security (11/13)

in the right direction. The GOP has a full toolbox from voter suppression to Gerrymandering and partisan courts. 4. Even if the Democrats manage to the the presidency back in 2028, there is currently no way of knowing who it will be. The Biden-style centrists have been utterly discredited (6/13)

"Don't be fooled! The United States is still our ally!" You sure about that, folks?

Yes, sure. Becausr by now we can be certain that the next Democrat will be sane and stable and totally focus on foreign policy, not try to stabilize the US. Unless, of course' the price of eggs goes down, then people will vote for Vance/Thiel... Let's please not try to sit this out again!

With alt text. This is Vance-ism/Theil-ism more than Trumpism, though it works well for Donald, too, because it puts him in the position to try to lord over each head of state, which is all he really cares about.
