In which I also get to pull out my very seldom used “Cinemax at 2am” voice for one such book license acquisition.
Also, Naruto is *unc* now. Own up to it.

Cartoon Network pays tribute to Eric Bauza:
"Thank you for taking up the mantle and breathing new life into Looney Tunes icons like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, and other countless beloved characters. Your joy and kindness will live on in the hearts of animation fans everywhere."
Jesus, Eric Bauza gone at 46; that's tragic. On top of being *hugely* important to the modern resurgence of Looney Tunes, I always got a smile whenever hearing his voice come up in everything from Community to Ballmastrz to Invincible and even Date Everything.
We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.
Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the acclaimed designer behind Super Mario and Zelda, has explained why he believes generative AI won’t make human creativity obsolete.
"There will always be a role left for us to play."

Overgeared - intensely skeptical as I was of checking out another manhwa/webtoon adaptation after slogging through Solo Leveling, this definitely won me over pretty quickly. Imagine if Bryan Hodukavich was really into SAO, and you get the idea.
There are some phenomenal line reads in the English dub to the point where I wonder how many outtakes there might've been from Ricco Fajardo trying to keep a straight face during all this.

So a local bakery chain is getting accused of supporting communism because they hosted a couple of Democrat politicians over the weekend... one of them being Hakeem Jeffries.
Y'know in case you needed a reminder that Florida politics is a very special kind of dumb -__-
Idk what's pissing me off more: the continued existence of this jackass, or the realization that various alt-music press outlets play along with it and regurgitate ad copy acting like he's worth a damn.

Horror Collector - gotta have at least one anime for the spooky season. Looks like this comes from a still-ongoing series of children's horror novels about a kid investigating supernatural urban legends, and... man I wanna like this more than I do. The inconsistent animation quality is the major...
...hurdle for me. When it's good, it looks appropriately creepy in movement/atmosphere. When it's bad... yeesh it looks *rough*. Which is a shame 'cause there's a solid hook/setup here.
...the CG animation is on the higher end of quality for anime this year (especially considering the only other Polygon Pictures anime I've actively watched was Fist of the Blue Sky Regenesis which... YEESH). The dub could use some work, but I think it has a cheesy charm to it.
Firefly Wedding - Judging from the general consensus, seems like this is sticking out as *the* one to watch for the season, and I have a hard time disagreeing. I am extremely compelled to see the bizarre toxic romance dynamics between Satoko and Shinpei.
Specifically the Yu Gi Oh parody because Itz Myturn is such an hilariously dumb piece of wordplay. But otherwise, this seems like it has a bit more oomph to its production values than expected so... good for it I guess?
Tank Chair - I remember seeing the trailer for this a while back and thinking it looked really cool. Not quite sure what the broad consensus is on this one so far, but I really enjoyed these first two episodes. Loved the grimyness of the setting, the over-the-top animal-themed assassins...
Art direction/animation are great, the world and its conflict are very engaging, Hikaru tries to make friends with a flying magic fish, and Mokona exists! Lookit this silly little guy!
Super Psychic Policeman Chojo - ...the fact that this got an anime is really fucking with my perception of how success in Shonen Jump is supposed to work these days. I forget exactly where I fell off, but I know the material covered in episode 2 is about where the series peaked for me.
Psyren - The anime adaptation that many a weeb thought would never happen. Never actually read the manga until 5 years ago, but I liked what I read, and this anime seems like a perfectly solid adaptation, though not one that's looking to overachieve so far.
Magic Knight Rayearth (2026) - probably one of my most embarrassing media blind spots is that I've never really watched/read anything by CLAMP (yes you can dunk on me for that), so this was a priority watch this season. And unsurprisingly, the high-profile remake of a '90s anime staple is very good.
Vertex Force - completely serviceable as a Saturday Morning Cartoon-type of deal about teen aliens summoning Stand-like robots to defend Earth. The animation's not bad, but it has this very uncanny feeling using 3D character models for the humans to mimic the look of 2D animation.
