The neighborhood cat has started bringing us dead mice. So, I mean, I guess we’re cool? “Hey, guys, thanks for not yelling at me when I hang in your yard. Here’s some murder for you!”

I am up extra early today and I am about to make that everyone else’s problem. And by “make it everyone’s problem” I mean quietly drink coffee and read what everyone else is up to, nodding occasionally, in support of your efforts.

My wife and I went to the movie theater last night to see the new “Sense and Sensibility.” I think I might have liked it even more than she did. It felt a little rushed at times, but it was really good. I was struck by how much this one focused on the love between the eldest sisters over the men.

Server friends, do you hate when customers ask you what is good? We had a fantastic meal tonight and I think it was because I couldn’t decide what sounded good and asked what our server recommended. And, man, she was right!

I went on a photo walk on Friday. The folks were super nice and friendly, but most of my images were muddled and crowded. This was the only one I liked.

I revisited John Huston’s “The Dead” last night after twenty-five or so years. I was worried, for just a moment, that it wouldn’t hold up. I was surprised that it held its power. What a beautiful, beautiful movie.(

I picked up a super cheap, used telephoto lens and I’ve been playing with it a little. Moving from a 23mm lens to 135mm is an adjustment, but it’s been a lot of fun.

I treat my Freewrite Traveler like an old-fashioned steamer trunk, putting a sticker on it when I take it to new destinations. Because I brought it back to Iceland, it got a new sticker this month.

I’m taking some time off to finish some projects, but didn’t do much more than sleep yesterday. I need to focus, but this view isn’t making that easy.

I didn’t know anything about these. The backstory and the images themselves are beautiful. I love this part specifically: Groebli once remarked that a photograph should not explain itself completely, leaving room for the viewer’s own memories to surface. www.utterlyinteresting.com/post/ren%C3%...

I’m not the only one to think the movie “Outland” might take place in the same universe depicted in “Alien,” but I’m starting to think the original “Rollerball” might be a prequel to both.

I still believe that “Got to Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye is the greatest pop song ever written. However, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” despite the controversy surrounding its singer, is the greatest roller skating rink song ever written. I could do a TED Talk on this.

Wife: What are you thinking about? My Brain: Don’t say you think there should have been a bee keeper and a mailman in the Village People. Don’t you dare say it! Me: Oh… umm… nothing.
