On the 30th anniversary of "Endtroducing....", @agspinelli.bsky.social spoke w/ DJ Shadow about creating his instrumental hip-hop masterpiece, forming the SoleSides crew, sample clearance, the influence of DJ Premier & Prince Paul, David Axelrod, Twin Peaks & more. www.powmag.net/p/dj-shadow-...

25 years ago it was normal for a music fan to spend $50-$100 a month on music. I used to spend more money on music than rent. We’ve paired it down to $13, and it all goes to dumb shit like this.

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

Is there a work of art that was created well before the current era that you feel explains Trump and MAGA and everything better than anything contemporary? For me it’s Assassins (1990) but I’m curious if other people have one.

We used Disk Makers for the 2009 I Come to Shanghai album on CD. Do it yourself is always more than yourself. RIP.

"His one-stop shop, in a factory outside Philadelphia, provided everything a musician required, including mastering, graphic design and vinyl (and later cassette and CD) pressing, sometimes just a few hundred units at a time." Morris Ballen, Who Helped Spread Indie Artists’ Music, Dies at 88:

This was the album that made me want to record my own music. I went out and bought a half inch 8-track tape machine.

Totally forgot The Glow Pt. 2 came out on 9/11. I was THRILLED to have a retrospective from @markrichardson.bsky.social for its 20th anniversary five years ago:

Finally looking at replacing my beloved 17 year-old audio PC, and the Mac mini seems like a way better deal than anything else. I haven’t used a Mac since college, but windows is shit now, and I want something that will last a decade.

This album implanted some extremely impractical romantic feelings in my head (along with all the hooks). I can’t even go back and listen now. It would be like calling up an old lover. I don’t want to stir that shit up again.
