I am honored to have been recognized at Monday’s Village of Flossmoor Board Meeting with a proclamation recognizing my 13 years of service as the Congresswoman for the second congressional district! Flossmoor, I am proud to be your representative, and I will keep fighting for you.

In 1962, Illinois became the first state in the U.S. to decriminalize homosexuality. This milestone opened the door to advancing LGBTQ+ rights in our state. I will continue to advocate for and celebrate the diversity that makes Illinois and our country great.

🚨KNOW YOUR RIGHTS🚨 It is a crime for federal, state, or local officials to intimidate voters in an attempt to interfere with their right to vote. If you experience this, report it to the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-866-VE-Y-VOTA (for Spanish speakers)

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the Election Security and Preparedness Roundtable held in Matteson on Tuesday! With Election Day less than two weeks away, it is important that everyone knows their rights and are best prepared to vote. See you at the Polls!

I am proud to share that I earned a perfect score on the @HRC.org Congressional Scorecard for the 119th Congress! But the score matters less than the people behind it. I know that the work for equality is far from done. I will continue to fight alongside & advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Illinois is a manufacturing powerhouse, and the 2nd District is part of that. I spent time with three local manufacturers yesterday in my district and met the people behind the machines. Manufacturing is essential to our economy, and I am proud to stand with them.

Social Security announced a 3.6% cost of living adjustment for January 2027. That’s about $75 a month, barely enough to fill a tank of gas, let alone the $1,000 Trump’s tariffs will cost Americans annually. The economy that Republicans flaunt continues to prove detrimental to American pockets.

163 days of promising to bring prices down and failing to deliver. We have now reached the most days in a year with gas prices above $4 a gallon in U.S. history. Trump’s Iran War continues to make life more expensive for Americans.

Last Tuesday, I met with the new Consul General of India in Chicago, Dr. M. Anand Prakash. With 20 years in foreign service, Dr. Prakash will no doubt help strengthen the ties between India and the Midwest. Welcome to Chicago! I hope you packed a jacket!

Illinois, tomorrow is the last day to register to vote online! Make sure you and your friends are registered and start making plans to vote next month! You can still register in person up to and on Election Day. This midterm, your voice matters more than ever.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, I want to emphasize the importance Hispanic Americans have to the history and culture of Chicago and Illinois’s second congressional district. Recognizing our Hispanic communities does not end after October 15th.

A Council on Criminal Justice report found that community violence intervention is one of the biggest contributors towards the decrease in the national homicide rate. This is why CVI programs matter—and I will continue advocating to fund them, just as I have my entire career.

The deadline for the 2026 Congressional App Challenge is fast approaching, with submissions due by October 26! Middle and high school students who either reside in or attend school in Illinois's 2nd Congressional District can participate! Learn more 👇🏾

47 years ago, the first National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights took place. More than 100,000 individuals protested in what was a monumental step in the fight for equality. Now, it matters more than ever to protect the progress made by our LGBTQ+ community.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! I’d like to commemorate and honor the rich cultures and histories of Native American communities. Today is a perfect opportunity to celebrate, educate, and appreciate Indigenous Peoples across the United States.

Every year, more than one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness. This World Mental Health Day, I remain committed to ensuring every American has access to quality mental healthcare. Let’s tear down the stigma: it’s okay not to be okay.

Illinois families are still recovering from the July and August storms. President Trump just turned his back on them. I will not stand for that. My Illinois colleagues and I will hold him accountable for denying much-needed aid to families across the state.

For LGBTQ+ History Month, I'm honoring Rick Garcia, an activist whose efforts helped pass Illinois’s first anti-gay discrimination law. He later co-founded Equality Illinois, an advocacy organization in Chicago. Garcia’s contributions to LGBTQ+ civil rights are still felt today. Rest in peace.

We’re approaching 32 weeks of President Trump’s Iran War. Every single day has made American lives harder. Gas & diesel prices, inflation, and energy costs have surged, with no clear end in sight. Thousands of lives on both sides have been lost. This conflict must end.

Community health centers and emergency feeding operations stepped up for our communities in the wake of Trump’s attacks on SNAP and Medicaid. My Food Access in Community Health Centers Act helps them do it together, ensuring patients get the care and food access they need.

Trump plans to take money out of the Medicare Improvement Fund, which benefits rural hospitals and community health centers, to bribe seniors whose premiums rose by almost $500 with a $90 check. Your tax dollars are being used for corruption in broad daylight.

10 years ago today, the Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act became law, guaranteeing survivors of sexual assault free forensic exams and establishing statutory rights for survivors of sexual assault. It’s essential that we protect and respect these rights now more than ever.

While Americans are struggling to afford housing, gas, and groceries, Trump plans to host an “exclusive” dinner for the biggest buyers of the meme coin that earned him an estimated $635 million. At the expense of the American people, Trump repeatedly shows he can be bought.

Did Trump just suggest letting Iran bomb two American cities? These are outrageous, reckless, and DANGEROUS comments being made by the President of the United States. This is gravely concerning.

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. This Mental Health Awareness Week, check on yourself and your loved ones. You are not alone. If you or someone you love needs help, call or text 988, or visit the link below.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! Today, we celebrate educators who inspire our youth. We thank you for your dedication, hard work, and passion to make the world a better place. America cannot move forward without you all. Keep inspiring, uplifting, and supporting our children!

The United States would not be what it is today without the contributions and sacrifices of the LGBTQ+ community. This LGBTQ+ History Month, I honor the progress they’ve made towards equal rights and stand with the community as they face attacks threatening to undo that work.

Literature has the power to change perspectives, teach lessons, and to share ideas. Nobody should be able to take that away from the public. This Banned Books Week, let’s remember that, in the face of attacks on truth and diversity, all Americans deserve the freedom to read.

This week, new SNAP cuts took effect. Since Republicans passed Trump’s Big Ugly Law, SNAP participation in Illinois has fallen 24%, and now these cuts will make it harder for families to put food on the table. Parents are skipping meals while the wealthy get tax breaks.

This #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth, I continue to stand against bullying in all forms. Our children deserve a safe and nurturing learning environment free of harassment and negativity. Together, we can build a positive, inclusive future for everyone.
