I've decided to purchase shoes for wearing in the house. My feet stay warmer when I wear my outdoor shoes indoors than when I wear my slippers. I don't know why, maybe the soles are better insulated, maybe there is more room for air to circulate around my foot, who knows, but it's a fact.

There's a pub near me who has freshly made cheese & onion or ham salad rolls on the bar. They're wrapped in cling film under a perspex dome. It's so great to have this option instead of having to order it. I miss this with modern pubs and wish this practice would return.

I got myself a long awaited eye test today. I've noticed the last 2 occasions that the staff (though friendly enough), did seem under a tight schedule. I felt like I was on a production line. I know time is money and all that. A little small talk goes a long way in regards to customer service.

I've noticed that many people on my estate here in the UK use taxis instead of owning a car. I guess it makes sense if you only go out 2 or 3 times a week. Certainly cheaper than buying & running a car to do the same. Taxis are way more comfortable than Public Transport though not as entertaining.

The live No Man Sky Expedition 23: Our Journey Continues is unique from the others as it tells the 10 year development story of No Man Sky narrated by Sean Murray. It's quite a long Expedition and there's only 7 days left to finish it.

Whilst watching Blade Runner 2049 yesterday evening, I recognised Officer K's girlfriend's activation tune. My memory of this tune goes back to the 60s, listening to this album many times when I was a little kid. I highly recommend this for kids 6 and over. This Tidal version is a 2015 re-release.

All my CDs were ripped to .WAV files sometime ago using Windows Media Player. However, I found a CD I'd missed, but I now have Linux installed. Rhythmbox doesn't have the option to rip CDs to .WAV, but does offer conversion to .FLAC files, which is also a lossless format despite using compression.

I've just renewed my Broadband subscription with the same provider and I got double the speed for the same price. Goodness, I sound like an advert. 😁

I've charged up my car's 12volt battery this morning. I do this once a month for the long term health of the battery. I struggle to use the car enough to keep the battery healthy without the need for this intervention. Running the battery with a continuously low charge reduces its life considerably.

Drunkenness isn't the only thing I got at the local beer & cider festival. I now have a sore throat and feel a little shivery. Not enough to stop me doing things though.

The temperature and sore throat has been replaced by congestion. It'll be interesting how my lungs will cope with my return to cycling this morning.

I think the World today has socially lost its way, and the culprit is technology. People don't need other people to help them anymore, so we've lost the need to be respectful to each other. Daily social interaction has been nullified by technology. I'm not condemning technology, just an observation.

I've been prepping my gas central heating system this morning before Winter kicks in. I bled the radiators until the system pressure indicator read 0. Then I checked the boiler's expansion tank pressure which was too low so I increased it to 1 BAR pressure. Then I repressurised the system. Sorted.

For the first time in 15 months of daily cycling, I received abuse from a passing vehicle. I received a car beep behind me followed by the passenger shouted at me saying it's illegal to cycle on the road without a helmet. I found myself shouting "oh shut up". It's not illegal, just recommended.

When I buy shop bought Chicken Kiev, I make a little foil tray so that if the filling leaks I can pour the leaked sauce over the chicken after plating up.

I bought a couple of mousetraps this morning to replace the ones that failed. If you're thinking of buying a mousetrap, buy the traditional wooden ones. Some plastic ones are prone to failing after a while due to the plastic becoming brittle with age.

I had to eject 2 spiders out of my 1st floor bedroom window last night. The first was one of those giant UK house spiders & the latter was smaller but more sturdy looking. I doubt that neither of them suffered any fatal injuries being so small and light.

I wish the powers that be could change the design of speed bumps to allow bicycles a channel to ride through. Most basic bicycles don't have any form of suspension. Speed bumps don't really work as the motorists they're targeting just ignore them, scaping the underside of their cars as they go.

I'm cooking prawns from raw for the first time ever today. This is because I'm frying up Pad Thai for lunch which is a prawn dish. I've watched some videos so I'm feeling quite confident. I'll let you all know how things turned out after lunch.

Well everything turned out great. One thing for certain, I've never eaten a Phad Thai with so many prawns. Next time I'll try to buy some raw prawns with the tails still attached. 😋

I just been listening to a David Bowie tribute playlist and stopped after 30 minutes because most of the cover versions of his songs are terrible.

Bloody Nora! £69 for a scale & polish at my dentist. Remember the days when you went for a check up with a scale & polish included? Dental Practices around the country have found a way to double their profits.

I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks on my council estate with the first of thousands of prisoners being released back into our society early to ease overcrowding in our prisons. I'm guessing the Police aren't either.

Today I changed my 4 mile daily cycling circuit a little to reduce the amount of time spent cycling on busy roads. I now cycle through the adjacent estate that has much less traffic. This shortened the route a little so I've lengthened the latter part of the circuit to make up the distance.

I went to my local for lunch and chose their fish & chips with mushy peas. Everything came piping hot and freshly prepared. The chips & peas had their own holders so I poured them both out onto the plate as I prefer everything together on the same plate. Twas a tasty treat indeed. 😋

My daily cycling circuit was quite exciting today, but not in a good way. A small flatbed metal waste vehicle that was performing a 3 point turn, didn't look before reversing forcing me to brake. A queuing driver cut me off whilst I was passing, and a chap walked into the road without looking first.

On this morning's cycle ride I passed a major traffic light controlled roundabout. I was met by that smell you get when you first start your car. I've never really noticed it before but I'm guessing the weather conditions must have allowed the fumes to build up. Yuck!

This lunchtime I've followed the instructions of a YouTube channel to make masala base paste that's used as the base for various Indian dishes. It looks and smells OK so hopefully it'll taste OK too. 😋🤞

Well the chicken masala turned out pretty tasty. It made my nose run which is also a good sign. It tasted quite mild at first but the favour built up the more I shovelled down. Very pleased. 🤩

I bought my first loaf of bread for a couple of years. After 5 days it was still soft! You have to be concerned when bread is lasting that long, what additives are they using to achieve this? 😮

I thought I might have some unwelcome company during this morning's bike ride. A youth with a balaclava rode towards me pulling a wheelie on his dodgy ebike, but thankfully he continued past me without incident.

Very happy with yesterday's CEX spending spree. The Unbreakable Blue ray must be old despite its excellent condition because of the sticker proudly announcing that it plays on Playstation 3.

9 years ago I received 8 500ml coffee/tea mugs for Christmas. My parents bought them from John Lewis after I chose the design I liked. Last week 1 got a chip so I just thought I'd check if John Lewis still sold them. To my amazement they still do. 🤩

For some reason I decided to check the head of broccoli for bugs before cooking it. I found a juicy green caterpillar amongst the florets. That got me wondering, how many caterpillars must I have eaten over the years as I never normally check.😮

The result of having such a hot & dry summer is that my rosemary bush has thrived. It has produced so much oil I can smell this wonderful herb when I enter the garden.

I was enjoying a lunchtime pint and playing on my PS Vita and noticed a group of three 30 somethings people had turned around and were looking at me with bemused smiles on their faces. I ignored them and felt glad that my presence had created an entertaining moment for them.

I'm a little damp after this morning's pre breakfast cycle. The sky was looking menacing when I set off. It held off for the first third of the ride then it started spitting. The last mile it was raining steadily. I'm glad I took the ride on.

During my almost always daily cycle there was a cyclist coming towards me on a thin part of the cycle/pedestrian path. So I slowed down and moved to the edge of the path to allow us to pass more easily. My "good morning" was greeted with just a slight nod. Miserable old git!

My pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 2s Bluetooth earbuds had developed problems keeping connected with my phone, so I stopped using them. However, I was playing about with them and connected with my TV without the Bose app. So I uninstalled my Bose app on my phone and they work perfectly now. Quality! 🤩

I've just watched a medium sized spider crawl across my living room floor and under my PC. Out of respect for this ballsy move, knowing I see but still keeping a relaxed pace, I'll leave it be.

This season I've signed up for the Fantasy Premier League game. After this weekend's results I've achieved a world ranking of around 5,500,000 which I found a little disheartening. However, I've since discovered that there are around 12,000,000 current players, so now I'm feeling much more upbeat.🤩
