when we talk about a "redistribution" of wealth we're accepting the inherent injustices of accumulation. instead we should be talking about "pre-distribution," which means justice by design in every stage of the system

there was never any need to take away the 3.5 mm headphone jack. everything was just fine. but once they got rid of that without any pushback they realized they could do anything they want

since apple released the new iphone many people have reported slowdowns, glitches, and complete bricking of their current iphones (including myself and people I know personally). how do we as a society allow this kind of sabotage by these gigantic corporate entities? how is this legal?

it's wild that this is like a commonly known phenomenon but we just allow it to happen and that our legal system has no interest or mechanism to stop this kind of criminal behavior. we cannot continue to live like this. there's nothing left to gouge

anyways if anyone has any good recommendations for iphone alternatives please let me knowβ€”it's going to be really, really inconvenient but I'm finally making the move off of apple. laptop is next!

don't sleep on nathan fielder's tv show The Curse. it's an unapologetic evisceration of the modern day liberal and the performance of virtue that characterizes neoliberal capitalism ...it's also funny as hell

"I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops." – Stephen Jay Gould

the US healthcare system is cool because it features this weird little guy who stands in between you and your doctor with the sole purpose of making sure you don't get any healthcare

al aqsa flood permanently transformed the world. it exposed the true nature of social democracy and forced the west to give up the lies it relied on to maintain legitimacy and to abandon the facade of international law and "the rules based order"

it woke much of the western left up to the reality that imperialism is the primary contradiction and that internationalism and global south sovereignty are the primary vehicles for ending capitalism and its stranglehold on the globe

as chris de ploeg writes in The Exterminating Empire, "the armed resistance in Gaza is today the clearest heir to the Haitian revolution." and as matteo capasso has said, the struggle of the palestinians is a fight for the future of humanity

I feel like my memory has been so challenged lately so I've decided to exercise my hippocampus by memorizing every player, position, and number for my favorite nhl teams this year and the top 2 lines of all 32 teams

in 1955 folk musician pete seeger was blacklisted for being a communist. we all love and admire him to this day. you know who we don't love, let alone even remember? the artists who snitched or who abandoned their values when giving testimony to the house unamerican activities committee

food in the united states is poison because it's a capitalist commodity. but that's not the case in cuba, which is the world's leader in agroecology. they don't use any chemical inputs, they protect biodiversity and soil health, and farmers are scientists who oftentimes make more than doctors

and just a reminder too that literally the only reason we aren't doing this already is because production under capitalism is centered around profit, not human and ecological needs

one of the greatest tricks the ruling class ever pulled was through the CIA's congress of cultural freedom: you don't have to ban the left, you just fund the version of it that's compatible with capitalism

anytime I walk into a target or walmart I feel this deep panic at how much shit is on the shelves. and how many of these stores exist across the country. tens of thousands. it really is a miracle that capitalism hasn't destroyed the earth already

NEW EP we're joined by chris gilbert and cira pascual marquina for an on-the-ground assessment of how venezuela is responding to the US regime's attempts at recolonization and why the western left gets so much wrong when they try to understand the health of Chavismo

NEXT WEEK venezuela ep. 7: on ascending a high mountain w/ chis gilbert and cira pascual marquina

the massive fight online this weekend among the western left over whether it's fascist to exercise made me think about venezuela, whose population is under direct attack by US fascist imperialism. very different experiences and very different questions being tackled. just thought it was interesting

interesting to note too that a lot of those taking part in this online screaming match have also posted about how delcy rodriguez is a traitor or that chavismo is dead. I wonder how removed from the terrain of struggle you have to be to make such grand, sweeping statements

I think it's important to debate things. we've had beatrice on the show twice and she's brilliant. this isn't intended to pass judgement on or shame as much as it is just a sober look at the massive differences in experience between those inside the imperial core and those subjugated by it

before china's communist revolution tibet was a feudal theocracy with life expectancy in the thirties. when you hear westerners say "free tibet," remember that mao already did

since then tibetans' life expectancy has risen from the 30s to the 70s. beijing has invested a quarter trillion dollars in the region in developing infrastructure, modernizing homes, building schools, hospitals, and for cultural/religious preservation
