Man, dopamine dysfunction is the pits. I knocked a bunch of stuff off my to-do list that's been sitting there for months, but do I feel like I've achieved anything? Lmao of course not

The only true downside of gardening that I've ever encountered is that you can no longer enjoy the prettiness of a pair of lovely white butterflies dancing past on the breeze. Too busy thinking about all the ravenous caterpillars they're about to lay on my brassicas >:{

Rereading this for the first time in many years. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Tolkien's prose; it's really bringing me back to old forgotten parts of myself. And also giving me good DMing inspiration. #Tolkien #LotR

Deleted FB off my phone, and very rarely use a computer outside of work these days, so I'm 95% off that particular hellsite. It's been days and I still have the urge to check the Depression Generator. Bleurgh. The FOMO is real.

Of course! The answer was so simple all along!

This is great, but it does beg the question: why aren't ALL offenders connected to therapeutic services to address the underlying causes of their offending?

Rural living hax: have a friend who loves chickens, but is allergic to eggs. "Sure, I'll adopt your excess roosters for my bachelor flock! Btw, I was thinking of hatching some babies; if I do, would you like any of the ones that turn out to be hens?" #BackyardChickens

Goofball the rooster, having finally discovered his hormones, has moved away to live with his brothers rather than having to go to freezer camp. We're all pleased with this outcome. #BackyardChickens #Rooster

My parents have a beagle, Harry. He is pretty well trained... For a beagle. He was being a ratbag this evening and mum was sick of it. Mum: "Harry, in your crate." Harry: "..." #Beagle #DogsOfBlueSky

People think beagles are unintelligent, but they're conflating "understanding what you're asking" with "having a desire to do what you're asking". Beagles are smart enough to think about your request, and decide you're talking shit. #Beagle #DogsOfBlueSky

What a topsy-turvy time we're living in #AusPol

It's quite clear he was assaulted by police in an unprovoked attack. Even if he said something to the police that isn't a reason to start punching someone out of the blue. He is quite right to sue.

Yesterday I was SO GOOD. I followed all the doctor's orders and protected my injured knee and focused on resting instead of squeezing the last drop out of every spoon I can find and/or steal. And so, of course, it's now 2am and I have a tesla coil for a brain. #NoSleep #ChronicIllness #Spoonie

Sometimes I start to fool myself into believing I've got this whole chronic illness thing under pretty good control these days. And then reality likes to remind me HAHAHA NO. #Hubris #NoSleep #ChronicIllness #Spoonie

Attempting to campfire-fire a wobbly little clay bowl I made out of wild clay from the wedding site. It hasn't immediately exploded, so it's already doing better than the last one. #WildClay #Campfire

Fossil fuel subsidies are growing faster than the NDIS and benefit far fewer people

The curse of chicken-keeping. Started with 12 eggs, 9 hatched, only 3 girls. And all the pretty-coloured ones are boys. Anyone (in Tas) want a cute Splash, Blue, or Gold-Laced rooster in a few months to save them from Freezer Camp? 😅 #BackyardChickens #Roosters

Fresh babies today. I like this particular mama hen. She does a good job, and she generally teaches her babies that I'm a source of treats rather than a threat. #Chickens #BackyardChickens #ChickensOfBlueSky

"Processing" young roosters is the unfortunately necessary counterpart to the cute fun part of hatching/raising chicks. At first I found it a bit distressing. Nowadays it's a weird kind of meditation for me on the nature of mortality and humans-as-animals. #Chickens #BackyardChickens

Due to my poor planning, we ended up processing two boys at 10pm in the rain. I didn't mind. I definitely don't enjoy it, but I do value it quite a lot, if that makes sense? Medically, I have to eat meat. I know these animals had good, albeit short, lives. I'd rather it was me and not an abattoir.

One benefit is that I'm a lot more conscious of the way I use their meat when cooking - I really try to make it go further. Weirdly, that doesn't seem to apply to supermarket meat? I guess it's too anonymous?
