Very glad to have been wrong about my concerns on this one.

Coyote vs. Acme was a great, heartfelt movie, but it might not even make the $50m it cost Ketchup Entertainment to save the film. Opening weekend gross was $15m. Show Warner Bros. that they were wrong to try to turn this into a tax write-off. It doesn't deserve to be a bomb.

Who would've thought when Iron Man came out back in 2008 that 18 years later we would have had not one but two TV series spin-offs about the AI voice in Tony's helmet. #visionquest

Starting on First Contact Day 2024 (4/5/24) I began rewatching all of Star Trek in chronological in-universe order, including repeats for (significant) flashbacks and time travel, starting with "All Our Yesterdays" (TOS). After 2.5 years, #StarTrekDay I finished with "Calypso" (SHO).

Also included: * TOS episode trailers (with original "Captain's Logs") * Star Trek Logs Instagram videos * The DS9 season 8 writer's room from the What We Left Behind documentary. * Some fan films: New Voyages/Phase II, Continues, and Of Gods and Men. * The series finale of Webster.

I'd like to also watch Star Trek: 30 Years and Beyond for its 30th anniversary, though that technically aired in October, and I may not have time to finish it today anyway. After that... Maybe a break from Star Trek for a while? At least until Strange New Worlds comes out Thursday.

Picard season 2 lined up with the dates the events were meant to happen in real life. Section 31 dropped at just the right time to slot into my early-24th century rewatch. And thanks to arbitrarily sticking Scouts at almost the end today's episode lined up properly.

With the slight caveat that I've never seen the theatrical cut of Khan in theaters, though I've seen the director's cut in theaters twice. I've seen both the theatrical cut and Director's Edition of The Motion Picture in theaters.

I don't envy @ryannorth.ca for shelling out $100 CAN and then having to find some way to get Captain Pike's couch from #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds in his house, unless by "envy" you mean "resentful awareness [...] joined with a desire to possess the same advantage," in which case I guess I do.

Does it bug anyone else that when people gripe about Alex Kurtzman's influence on Star Trek the things they cite most often are from the brief period *before* Kurtzman was showrunner of Discovery? Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts presumably made the decisions about the Klingons and such.

Okay, I know there have arguably been too many crossovers already, and Star Trek has gotten a little too gimmicky lately, but if @idwpublishing.com doesn't make a crossover that will involve the Enterprise fighting Mechagodzilla than what are we even doing #GodzillaVsStarTrek #Godzilla #StarTrek

In #StarTrekDiscovery "Face the Strange" in the time right after Burnham becomes captain, they need a 32nd century holodeck. The only one one the ship was just installed in Burnham's quarters, apparently shortly after her promotion. Rank has its privileges?

Look, all I want is a Star Trek series that makes me care about its characters in 2 episodes as much as I do about the TNG cast after 178 episodes and 40 years of nostalgia and that has as many classics in one 10-episode season as TNG had in its first 70 episodes combined. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK???

I'm going to pretend the Jem'Hadar were named after Jeff Hunter because if I said one of the two while having dental work I don't think people could be confident which one I was saying. #startrek

Am I the only one who keeps wondering what "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" would sound like sung by @amerrill2.bsky.social as Brak? Is it literally just because I think Brak really does wanna scream "Hello"? That's probably it, but I've wondered this surprisingly often.

They really seem to be scaling back during this 60th anniversary year, barring a slim chance that they're prepping a full site refresh. Though I don't see why they'd pause news stories for that.

#StarTrekProdigy was a poor fit for Netflix. * 20 episode seasons that feel designed to be savored, not binged. * It's not laser-focused on plot. Every episode has a purpose, but it's often character or theme. * It mercilessly expects you to follow what's going on. More shows should be like this.

Continuing my rewatch of #StarTrekProdigy, I feel like "Last Flight of the Protostar, Part I" is up there with my favorite episodes of all of #StarTrek for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. (Not top 5, but maybe top 25?) They succeeded in making Chakotay interesting. Kudos!

Nick: "We'd like you to create a #StarTrek series that's simple enough for kids to get into." Writers: "You had us at 'create a Star Trek series'!" Nick: "Great! But you did hear the second part, right...?" Writers: "We'll be right back. Dr. Erin, does this ontological paradox resolution work?"

#StarTrekProdigy, in case it wasn't obvious. I tease. It's great. Though I have seen adults struggle to wrap their head around it. But please keep talking it up. We need more of it.

Re-verified. How did this end up on the real #ParamountPlus site? Are they not even checking the results of what's being generated?

Ryan Estrada@ryanestrada.com

Paramount+ wanted to use the image on the left as a poster for the wrath of Khan, so they used everyone's least favorite technology to generate the rest of the image.
