Trump thinks our enemy is Taiwan. I am starting to think maybe Trump does not have the interests our country at heart.

Trump: "Look, if we had smart presidents, the Taiwan problem with China wouldn't exist. Nobody would care. They stole our chip business. All of it. 100 percent."

The Tainan Branch of the National Museum of Prehistory has a new exhibit on the Japanese anthropologist Ryuzo Torii 鳥居龍藏, who came to Taiwan 1896-1900 (when only in his 20s) and took a whole lot of pictures of the colonized indigenous people. #notetoself - would be very interesting to visit.

Tung Ming-Chin carves faces and hands pressing outward from inside abstract wooden forms — figures caught mid-emergence, as if something inside is trying to break free. The Taiwanese sculptor describes his work as giving shape to inner emotion and the subconscious. 😊

*I'm not Chinese, and also I don't like to play armchair-general (except, maybe, armchair cyberwar general) *However, if I WAS a Chinese general, I think I'd worry more about destabilizing Russian disasters, and less about Taiwanese chip-nerds *Taiwan's not a crisis unless you provoke one

Soviet Marxist posthumanism (Cosmism) introduced in this great intro from @ShiftingConcepts. footnote: Zizek also talks about it in Hegel in a Wired Brain (2020)—where he calls it Soviet Tech-Gnosis. #後人類 m.youtube.com/watch?v=DYdc...

m.youtube.comSoviet Cosmism (The First Transhumanists)Soviet Cosmism (Biocosmism-Immortalism) was a transhumanist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. According to Boris Groys, Cosmism followed a radicalized logic of "biopolitics" (Foucault). The biopolitical state used measures such as mass vaccination, public hygiene and eugenics to promote human life. The limit of biopolitics was always the so-called "natural death". The proponents of Soviet Cosmism saw this limit as an insult to humanity. The future Soviet state was to set immortality as its ultimate goal! As colonialism had shown before, biopolitics could also encompass the destruction of life. Soviet Cosmism is not excluded from such killing fantasies, according to which less life for one part of the population means more life for the other. main source: Groys, Boris (Editor); "Russian Cosmism"; MIT Press 2018 other sources: Ilyenkov, Evald, "Cosmology of the Spirit" in: Stasis Vol. 5/2, p. 164-190, 2017 If you want to find out more about Cosmism I recommend you have a look at this website: https://cosmos.art/library Slavoj Zizek on Ilyenkov: https://thephilosophicalsalon.com/evald-ilyenkovs-cosmology-the-point-of-madness-of-dialectical-materialism/ In this lecture Boris Groys talks about Cosmism, Nietzsche, Bataille and the divine machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlH1UPkcMaY&list=WL Timestamps: 0:00 intro (biopolitics) 4:01 Nikolai Fedorov 7:01 Constantin Tsiolkovsky 9:13 Alexander Bogdanov 13:07 Valerien Muravev 16:44 Alexander Chizhevsky 18:21 the Futurists (Kazimir Malevich) 20:00 Evald Ilyenkov 24:35 poem from the intro

Originally a 1970 chapbook on Han Shan (寒山) poems introduced by CM Chen (陳健民), it’s said that Gary Snyder would hand out copies to his California hippie friends: #poetry www.yogichen.org/cw/cw30/bk049.html

His poems, of course, do not belong to the School of Poetic Laws but to that of Naturalism and Spiritualism. He himself also confessed that he neglected those Poetic Laws, as is said in his poem:

Richard Powers’ The Overstory mentions this poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei. Today I looked up the original: 晚年唯好靜，萬事不關心。 自顧無長策，空知返舊林。 松風吹解帶，山月照彈琴。 君問窮通理，漁歌入浦深。 《酬張少府》王維
