Has anyone done a supercut of all the times Republicans have promised something that is, by definition, socialism? "$5K payments if we win majorities" "$3K DOGE dividends" "Grant money for Kansas farmers" Maybe do the GTA Wasted thing, but have it say "Socialism" instead. I dunno, I'd watch it.

Even in an era when voters are as ill-informed as they have ever been, it's pretty brazen to campaign as the "common sense" candidate when you're a member of the party that has done [gestures wildly at everything that has happened in the last two years].

The political attack ads in Michigan are completely unhinged, yet I am encouraged by what feels like momentum behind progressive candidates. Weirdly, white men campaigning as "common sense," and calling progressive candidates, "radical," and, "scary," and, "dangerous," isn't resonating very well.

Most people have tuned out the ads completely. Minds were made up a long time ago. "Undecided voters" are kind of a myth (they exist, but not in large numbers). The more Trump campaigns with Republicans, the more it hurts them. None of them want to be associated with him, but he keeps insisting.

GOOD COP: You think you can make him talk? BAD COP: I'll make him sing. --- BAD COP: Start talking, punk. [throws chair against the wall] Who burned down the Tastee Freeze?? BILLY JOEL: Joe McCarthy! Richard Nixon! Studebaker! Television! [sobbing now] North Korea, South Korea, Marilyn Monroe!

You know, if it wasn't clear before 2016, it should be clear now: when fascists do fascism, it doesn't actually solve the fake problems that the fascists fabricated while campaigning, and that's probably because the problems were always fake, unlike their micro-dicks.

"It was the best of times, it was the Fred Durst of times," writes Fred Durst on the wall of a public bathroom stall, moments before attempting to flush a Sharpie down a toilet.

I don't have numbers to quantify the amount of Dumb required to point out that Abdul El-Sayed lived in Missouri for part of his childhood, while ignoring the fact that his opponent, Mike Rogers, who is running to be a US Senator from Michigan, LIVES IN FLORIDA RIGHT NOW.

Just to be clear: 1) The formation of the Confederacy was an act of treason that went unpunished; 2) The January 6th insurrection was an act of treason that went unpunished; 3) Allowing treason to go unpunished ensures that treason will happen again.

Very recently, SCOTUS denied motions in which the potential harm was feared. It was not a "victory" or a "defeat" but was, in fact, a, "Come back when the harm has occurred." This should not be handled any differently, mere weeks later, by the same court. There is no standing.

Breaking news: The Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska’s Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses his tight race against Democrat Mary Peltola next month.

How sad is it that the people who most-loudly claim to "love the Constitution" really only care about the 0.36% that pertains to gun ownership, while the people who actually understand the Constitution are labeled Marxists, radical extremists, and described as, "hating America" ?

In a world where objectivity still mattered, understanding the Constitution and demanding that it be upheld and defended would not be radical, or extreme. Objectively, this should be described, instead, as patriotic.

Just a periodic, friendly reminder that we could actually avoid all this by not caring who’s attracted to, who’s having sex with who, who’s marrying who, let alone believing any of it should matter in public policy. We could just all mind our own business and all have rights. ✨

The President is offering $5K if his party wins majorities. Dems are fighting for an end to for-profit insurance, which would mean no more out of pocket premiums, no more high deductibles, and no more convoluted pricing. It would save you tens of thousands of dollars annually. How is this hard?

(Werner Herzog voice) when we go back and watch the episode, we are shocked that Mr bean only has the turkey stuck on his head for 2 minutes. We remember it as an eternity, because we know that the darkness Mr bean experiences inside that turkey is in some sense cosmic, infinite

I recently posted about how our representatives are not accessible to us, and then I see this: @wewill2026.bsky.social is casually sitting on a corner of MSU's campus, meeting people and answering their questions. THIS IS THE KIND OF ACCESSBILITY WE SHOULD ALL HAVE FROM OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS!!

Our representatives really need to be in touch with their constituents. It's really that simple. Instead, they isolate and insulate themselves from what mattes most: the desires of the people they represent.

It's neat how people throw around words like "socialism" and "communism" as attacks against progressive candidates, when those same people: 1) Struggle, when pressed, to accurately define either term; 2) Support politicians who are promising government payouts in exchange for votes/compliance.

An important takeaway: If Trump can tell Musk to throttle or disable Starlink for this, what's to stop him from doing the same in ways that will impact US elections? But all objective measures, Republicans are headed toward historic losses, yet none of them seem too worried.

In case you missed it.

"The book was better." NO IT WASN'T. YOU JUST PREFER THE BOOK BECAUSE IT USES DESCRIPTIVE LANGUAGE THAT LEAVE THINGS UP TO YOUR PERSONAL INTERPRETATION, THEREBY GENERATING A MENTAL IMAGE THAT SOMEWHAT ALIGNS WITH YOUR OWN PREFERENCES, AND YOU LIKE THAT BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE'S VERSION.

For people outside the US, I feel this needs to be said: We do not have access to our representatives. To be in a room small enough for heckling to be effective is an incredibly rare situation. If more US Reps and Senators were forced to answer to their constituents, you'd see a LOT more of this.

WATCH: Andy Harris has a crash out after his constituents laugh at him for trying to blame higher gas prices on... Democrats. "You are rude!" #MD01

I respect History, and I hear, often, that Americans are lazy and complacent; that we should be protesting. We are. In many, many ways. Our reps ignore us and patronize us. The only recourse we have is elections, and even with MAGA being as unpopular as ever, dirty tricks are guaranteed.

In the meantime, this is what happens when the bubble is broken. Our reps are robots for their parties and fully comfortable ignoring their constituents. They can stay in the bubble for most of their terms, if they so choose (and they often do). Therefore, moments like these are truly beautiful.
