Are you a rapist? Do you blame your rape on something even worse you were apart of? Something like mudering people in the third world? Well, Will Stancil, an american man, forgives you. #RapistsForKamala #joy

People are predictably very angry at me for expressing even a sliver of empathy for the guy. I’m sorry, but if membership your movement precludes that minimum level of humanity towards people who have done terrible things or made terrible decisions, please count me out of it.

"Leftists" were telling you that you should forgive platner's past of killing in foreign countries and that everyone is redeemable suddenly don't think so about his raping of an american.🤔 They never held that principle, they just don't care about foreign lives as much. Shameful, fuck the US "left"

Many videos of israeli troops' last moments before getting blown up in Lebanon by 200$ FPV drones. It's only a matter of time before america gets involved in another ground invasion for profit. If you have loved ones in the military and don't want to see them in similar videos convince them to quit

This response is so cruel and absurd that it almost reads like parody. The sentiment is extremely common for americans, but you never see it laid out so clearly. It made me deeply sad. This is why the american left MUST push back against the troop worship narratives.

They say that funerals are for the living. Similarly, memorial day is for active troops. By whitewashing and honoring those who gave their lives fighting for past horrifying and unjustifiable wars overseas, you validate those who are doing so in the present and the future.

Americans are celebrating memorial day weekend, a day dedicated to dead invaders just days after uncle Ho's birthday.🫶 Have fun, get drunk, piss on a grave.

Service to your country is not inherently honorable. If you feel that your obligations to your country are contraposed by your obligations to your fellow human... that should tell you something about your country.

Within "Israel has the right to exist" being used against opponents of the zionist etho supremacist project there is a tacit admission that ethno supremacism is a defining charachteristic of Israel, without which it couldn't be considered as an existing entity.

If your ideas cannot stand up to the slightest bit of scrutiny, blocking those respectfully inquiring about it is a childish thing to do. You can't build a coherent worldview by avoiding thinking about anything that makes you uncomfortable. Plus, it only affirms the ideas of your interlocutors.

Another sentiment i see very often. Sending people to the front line invading other countries is not a punishment for the solidiers, it is the invaded that are the victims. Beneath the surface of this rethoric, it is clear that only ameican lives are of concern to many liberals when discussing wars.

Mary Fischer@mfisch02.bsky.social

The politicians who vote for war should be required to be on the ground in the front lines.

I got a community strike for "glorifying violence" for a reply where I ironically agreed with a US solidier who wanted better rewards for their participation in war. Pretty funny. I appealed it, the strike was revoked within an hour, so shouts out to bluesky moderation for that.

Many US military personnel and vets seem to think that an oath is like a magical spell: you say the nice sounding words and if you really believe in them you'll actually fight for those values. But saying an oath does not further any understanding, it does not help you analyze reality. (1/3🧵)

It cannot ensure that you'll be enacting those values, whether you believe in them or not. The history of american interventions is incoherent if viewed under the value of defending the constitution, there are many examples i could get into. Profit for the economic elite is the objective. (2/3🧵)

An oath is meaningless if paired with a faulty understanding of material reality. If you want to know what the US military fights for, study history and analyze the american system of power, do not take an oath at face value. Do you judge the russian military purely based on their oath? (3/3🧵)

I couldn't name a single bad thing that ICE has done that the US military hasn't done on 100x the scale overseas. Nobody should join, nobody who did should feel proud of it.

Guys, words are tools of oppression. That is why we need to be mindful when referring to volunteer murderers who are destroying foreign countries for profit and inventing new slurs on a daily basis while doing it. They have loved ones, unlike the orphans they create and bomb.

A few thoughts ahead of the President’s speech tonight.

I get this SO MANY TIMES. I criticize troops for joining the bloodthirsty US military and they say: "☝️🤓 But, have you considered they might be morons when signing up or might be trying to get something out of joining?" YES I HAVE! I HAVE! WHY WOULD THAT EVEN CHANGE MY MIND? SHUT THE HELL UP!

thehappywanderer.bsky.social@thehappywanderer.bsky.social

Again, you’re missing the point, but if you don’t believe people join the military for a whole host of different reasons, from dumbass patriotism, to getting a green card, to family tradition, to naive belief in what it’s all about, or a sense of adventure… you’re being simplistic.

Everyone should have access to healthcare. But in the absence of that, VA benefits should not exist. Those funds should be redirected to general care instead. Participation in bloody wars for profit is no basis for deciding who gets healthcare. It's dystopian, a lose-lose for everyone involved.

I love american media, it’s always like “the problem with american imperialism under trump: poor execution” or “the problem with american imperialism under trump: americans die” or “the problem with american imperialism under trump: high oil prices hurt the stock market”

Exclusive: Trump is weighing a military operation to extract Iran’s uranium, a risky mission that would likely put American forces inside the country for days or longer.

Someone pleeese think of the innocent invading troops! Or five finger death punch will make another song. Do call your local rapresentatives, tho. Innocent iranians will die.

This is what girlboss is supposed to mean. Honor to the vietnamese that fought and/or died defending their country from imperialist france and america. 🇻🇳✊️

Whenever i read about the mass slaughters of foreigners the US military has created for many decades so that an economic elite can profit, I worry: "Are their hiring practices bigoted? Are women of color being given a fair shake at being responsible for war crimes of their own?"

Libs tying the Iran war only to distracting the epstein files is a convenient cop out to not look further into the long pattern of american interventions which completely discredits their world view. Liberal darling Obama did a similar intervention in Lybia. Trump did not invent imperialism.

A common misconception: "Us troops are disproportionately lower income & unprivileged & looking to do better in our alleged meritocracy. They're a kind of victim, too."

The comment section of this fills me with hope. Seeing people defend the perpetrators of atrocities over and over again makes you feel like you're going crazy.

Thinking of all the military members serving in these operations. They courageously go where duty calls. Their sacrifices represent the best of us and they deserve leaders of integrity.

You cannot talk like this about any other minority in America. And if it was any other president’s adviser who said something like this about any other minority, it’d be the instant end of their presidency.

As a liberal, when i think of people who paid the price for the wars in Iraq and right now Iran, the only ones that come to mind are the troops. Yeah, schoolchildren died in mass from an airstrike yesterday, but won't someone think of the invaders that will die trying? #equality #kamala #joy

Trump just launched a war in Iran — without Congress and without a plan. As a 25-year vet who served in Iraq, I’ve seen how wars begin and how hard they are to end. Regime change from the air won’t work — but American troops will pay the price. This is not peace. It’s chaos.

I really dislike the charachter limit of this app. It is often not nearly enough to express an opinion in full. Some things need to be left out and bad faith actors will use that against you, harping on the way they filled the blanks themselves more than the things you actually said.
