In addition to the interesting insights itt, I think another factor is that for some people education/information does not expand the mind but rather enforces its limits more firmly. They just have “data” to prove the dumb stuff they already think.
i need to hit the books to find out what actual experts call this sort of thing - i call it "there-must-be-something brain" but no one should let me name things. it's correlated with some ideologies, predictable if you know the person is an institutionalist, but ime it's a pretty universal impulse
really pathetic to cosplay about being a macho warrior when the actual topic was about someone paying a $30k and dealing with a $500k bill for 3 years of their life. wow it’s really cool how you best that guy and his family up with your $30k “windfall” data.
watching matt darling wade into a thread to try and explain "actually the social impact of one-time windfalls is well-studied in economics, the net effect is mid" against every annoying fool on this website is like that scene in ip man where he decides to fight ten men

Pretty surreal how sharing a traumatic story about my daughter's birth elicited someone to call it "insane bullshit". I was just trying to contextualize why people are right to call our healthcare system dogshit, and also why you don't have to be an asshole if you disagree.
I'd suggest sneering "insane bullshit" at someone for feeling stressed out about having to handle hours on the phone over a half million dollar bill after dealing with a birth and NICU stay is why people can't stand you
how does a thread in which the posts have 0-3 likes and 0 reposts demonstrates a “critical mass of social media likes and shares?”
It is now broadly accepted among so many people - frankly, so many of YOU - that the way to prove any claim is to get a critical mass of social media likes and shares behind it. If you try to insist that false things not be treated as true, you’ll change little, but you’ll ruin your reputation.

I don't want to pound my chest. Everyone here is so tired. So much harm has been done to our state and our immigrant neighbors. But baby, you try another surge against a bunch of people who are sick to death of your shit and already know they'll die for each other, you're not gonna have a good time.
every good boyfriend ought to know that being a boyfriend is in fact their highest achievement
i described lewis hamilton this way to point out how mainstream and major the sheerhan/macklemore/kraft situation has become, but now people are mad because they think i was trying to diminish hamilton's many achievements and that it's disrespectful to define him as someone's boyfriend. lol. lmao.

💯 the usual retreat to internecine cross-factional beefs bc they can't and don't want to engage with actual politics happening in reality because it means their assumptions were bad and history (derogatory) is going to keep happening anyway even if we'd really prefer otherwise

when i say i am fine with suspension of democratic norms to ensure this never happens again, i mean that every single ICE guard described in this piece should be tried and executed on live television, and the government should maintain a printed & online publication describing their lives & crimes.
NEW FROM ME: On a hellish third-country removal flight last month, passengers say ICE-contracted guards got drunk, teased and beat them, tied them up, refused to let them use the lavatory. One says he witnessed an ICE agent admit to illegal chain refoulement. prospect.org/2026/08/31/w...
Related example. obviously dr. Traditions is shit posting. He is known for this. We all know this. Pretending he is “spinning baroque theories” is foolish behavior. People are not well and are not able to communicate with integrity bc the website incentivizes them to post self-righteous rubbish.
I don’t follow the Piker stuff, don’t care about him at all, not seeking content about him. Yet numerous posts have come across my feed of people doing precisely what this post is saying “no one” is doing. But supposedly this person has been on the case for a long time and isn’t seeing it?

I'm going to flatly say: this piece is so bad it should make you suspicious of the person who wrote it and the outlet who published it. It should make you question their perspective, their political ideology, and to what degree they are actually "on your side." It certainly leads me to question.
"Their actions ensured that they struggled to achieve sympathetic media coverage outside of a few left-wing outlets, struggled to attract material or legal support (the ACLU, for instance, refused to touch the case), and failed to achieve positive virality in the larger culture."
Deniro looking in the mirror: “You directing comments toward me?”
St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her said Wednesday she has no intentions to leave office amid an investigation of claims that she directed inappropriate sexual comments toward Police Chief Axel Henry and other city employees, but acknowledged that what she intended as a joke was misguided.
You are up to date.
