Obsession hits because instead of manifesting a creepy spooky monster design that can be rendered toothless and fun by parody The filmmakers of obsession made a movie that basically depicts the feeling of being trapped in a room with your bipolar mom when she's having another meltdown

you can't shoot that feeling. You also don't want to shoot your mom- your mom is not a monster you can dispose of. Either because you love a person with a problem or you take what was done to you with you the rest of your life we've all been in rooms that felt like scenes from obsession.
