I once voted for a candidate in a primary because I thought they could win, instead of the candidate I preferred. I regret that vote terribly. how can a candidate win if people don't prefer them? non-preferred candidates shouldn't get votes. don't even rank candidates you don't prefer.

Ken Paxton just gave an Epstein-style deal to a pedophile. Paxton released Adam Hoffman — an admitted child rapist — back on our streets after Paxton’s rich lawyer friend got involved. The Epstein Class has no place in Texas. Ken Paxton has no place in the US Senate.

My fiber internet has been unreliable lately, ever since Verizon purchased it. sometimes it goes out for several days at a time. Luckily Verizon has a new modem which includes a 5g connection! for just a subscription fee my internet can be reliable again. capitalism solves problems folks.

soon it will be 20 years since Obama's election. and the dnc legacy for the past 20 years seems to just be eschewing fdr-style progressivism, letting down their voters, and paving the way for trump's version of "yes we can" and "hope and change"

I see people saying solar energy will bring peace to the world. I think it's a good way to generate support for solar energy, because people want peace. but to those of you who are warmongers, also remember that solar energy won't bring peace & you can support solar too along with the pacifists.

if only the republicans cared about America's present and its future. they are so obsessed with America's past. their own past. an entire party of people who only fear the future and what it will bring. people who see no place for themselves in the future.

rightwingers keep talking about how books can be dangerous to children. just saw some article where a chatbot 1984 removed from a library because could be upsetting to children. reading is an active task one has to continually choose to do... if a kid is upset by a book then they'll stop reading.

republicans: "you can't rely on solar and wind because sometimes it rains" nevermind how we rely on solar power to produce all of our calories and oxygen. and solar power is more abundant than fossil fuels (which are fossilized solar power btw). but iran & republicans prove oil/gas is unreliable.

farmers don't exactly spread good will towards cities, and that's been the case for several thousand years. not a new phenomenon.

The liberal contempt for farmers on this app is a masterclass in why rural America votes Republican. Not policy. Not economics. THIS. The sneering. The 'idiots.' The performative disgust from people who've never set foot in a field but eat three times a day.

every month I hear new stories of a seat flipping from republican to democratic and I just get a feeling of dread that the dnc will continue to campaign on the republican's failings instead of a progressive platform which inspires a new age of american ingenuity and renaissance

just finished Joe Abercrombie books after reading the Pierce Brown series and Tchaicovsky's children of time series. quite a hard act to follow for the next book, anybody have any suggestions? I was thinking Prachett, maybe Hobb.

this was a person who wanted the nature non-fiction section at the bookstore to be less depressing. didn't want to read about habitats being destroyed and species going extinct, literally during the Holocene Extinction. sorry non-fiction is depressing nowadays, hon.

the Bible quickly became detached from Jesus' teachings and has since killed so many people and destroyed so many civilizations. pretty much right when Rome adopted it as their national religion, and probably before Jesus' body went cold.

McGowan: You're saying 46 Americans died, so we should attack this country. Here at home, 68,000 Americans die a year because they don't have health insurance. So, if we're going to spend billions of dollars on something…

bluesky sees people talking about hegseth announcing war crimes and using Ellison to silence criticism from can, and bluesky labels the discussion as "media criticism". thanks bluesky. I would suggest maybe "war crimes" as the topic instead.

racism probably. america since its inception has not wanted everybody to vote. republicans attacking education is a roundabout way to attack voting, since we can't let idiots make important decisions.

Iran threatening California shows just how bullshit and unimportant the divisions are in this country tbh. they threaten California because they are our money-maker, breadbasket, and center of american culture. republicans hating on California are hating on america.

i don't care about any arguments against this. right now the sum total of my political advocacy is: crush the Republicans and make them pay. i don't care what comes after because until we do that nothing better is possible.

New York Dems are reportedly still expected to push for a constitutional amendment that would let them redraw the congressional map in 2028 to counter GOP gerrymanders. Dems could target 3-4 seats currently held by GOP. Dems must pass it both in 2026 & 2027, then win voter approval in November 2027

gas went up by 60 cents in mere days & china sells electric cars with 450 miles of range for 25k. america is a pathetic joke of a country. I just want to take a train to the beach but we have rightwingers forcing me to buy, insure, and maintain a 20k used car that runs on rightwinger-owned fuel.

when people say "nuclear energy is not safe" they aren't talking about Three Mile, Chernobyl, Fukushima, or nuclear waste. nuclear would already be dangerous if that was all we had to worry about. what they are talking about is the Iran war. nuclear energy is not safe because it encourages war.
