A classic Universal Horror is mandatory for #Halloween, but I'll skip the usual monster suspects for Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi doing Poe (after a fashion) in the brilliantly bonkers The Black Cat (1935). Read more at www.spookyisles.com/the-black-ca... #spookyisles @spookyisles.bsky.social

More from Manfred Mann mark 2: Picture sleeves were not the norm in the UK then, but Fontana forked out for these two, likely to promote the releases on the rear. Note the new fangled Musicassette format! #WeekendSingles

I've a very soft spot for the mark 2 line-up of Manfred Mann, including these four. You can just about make out that Mighty Quinn is signed by Mike D'Abo, Mike Hugg and Tom McGuinness. Their Fontana LP's are absolutely, brilliantly bonkers, especially Mighty Garvey. #WeekendSingles

Go to your camera roll and search "boat" and then post a picture of a boat you like. 📷

I don’t normally join in with this kind of thing - but then I found this… #WeekendSingles PS I’m flying to Mexico early in the morning, so night night. Go to your camera roll and search "boat" and then post a picture of a boat you like. 📷

Four from The Fortunes: their first mid 60's successes at Decca, then their second wind at Capitol in 71/72. "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" was a US hit, but flopped here while "Storm In A Teacup" did the reverse. Both perfect pop singles for me. #WeekendSingles

One for #Shocktober, and worth adding to your #Halloween watchlist 🎃

Dammit, all this #INXS talk has made me pull the album out... 😂 Special UK gatefold edition of Listen Like Thieves, which came with a free copy of previous LP, The Swing. #WeekendSingles #AlbumAlmanac

Gathering my senses after Saints Vs Pompey, with a couple I dug out from Gin Blossoms: Mrs. Rita on deep pink 12", and Hey Jealousy is... well, 8 inches square and green. #WeekendSingles

The #INXS related post from @vinylgeek.bsky.social earlier prompted a trip down memory lane for me: these three were all pulled from the Listen Like Thieves LP, before they finally broke through in the UK - This Time still has its press release inside. #WeekendSingles (reposted to fix hashtag!)

The chazza I was just in had the radio on, playing Mary's Boy Child by Boney M. In September. 🤬 Anyway... I did pick up this brilliantly mental stereo test LP from 1967, so the trauma was worth it. #WeekendSingles #AlbumAlmanac

This week's #WeekendSingles finds: A post-apocalyptic ditty from Tim Rose and a classy soul number from The Moments, both on my want list for ages. On the #AlbumAlmanac front, 2 lovely Creedence Clearwater Revival records, UK Liberty 1st press - they wipe the floor with the US Fantasy originals.

The #RollingStones stayed here when they played Weymouth in August 1964. Word spread, and they waved at a mass gathering of fans from the bow window on the first floor. Then, they apparently had to be smuggled out in the back of a local bakery van...

Some choice instros from the soul boxes for #WeekendSingles: The Mohawks, Willie Mitchell, Booker T. & The M.G.'s and Al Kent Orchestra. If one wasn't so arthritic, one would be shaking one's booty, let me tell you. #MusicSky #VinylSky

I sometimes find it strangely therapeutic to play this very loudly. I suspect the rare and unusual RCA company sleeve is worth a lot more than the actual record... The Archies - Sugar Sugar (1969) #WeekendSingles

Random 60's hits from the L to M box: Roger Miller (as covered by The Proclaimers), Los Bravos, Marmalade's finest moment and Colin Blunstone moonlighting as Neil MacArthur and revisiting The Zombies. #WeekendSingles

Slim #WeekendSingles pickings today, but I picked up The Church's first UK LP from 1982 (with She Never Said + The Unguarded Moment), and Space's Magic Fly from 1977, which I wasn't allowed as a child due to an iffy track title on side 2 so had to settle for the single for 49 years... #AlbumAlmanac

Not had the #WeekendSingles out this week, but I did unearth these brilliant NME playing cards, circa 1991. You had to collect them over multiple issues, if I remember rightly. Mark E. Smith had to be a Joker, obviously.

I had vague thoughts of filing some stuff today, until I opened the first box and decided I couldn't be arsed. Came across this (very) random lot, though: The Motors, Neil Diamond, Julian Cope and the always welcome Françoise Hardy. #WeekendSingles #MusicSky #VinylSky

Can't get to the #WeekendSingles while the last of the Kallax from IKEA is being assembled, so I'm having an audience with the Cope instead. Saint Julian (1987) #AlbumAlmanac #JulianCope #VinylSky #MusicSky
