Failing on rights, we’re losing them right and left. I will die on the trans rights hill. Nice birthday, good cake. Can see the sunset from here. I’m cool on a hill.

So, okay, maybe the hearts of palm were an interesting dig at colonialism, and maybe the morels were a good reminder of fire seasons, and maybe the ramps were about the rural base, but otherwise, the WH state dinner menu for a king was straight up a Seattle Restaurant Week menu w/o burrata.

Watched “For Love of the Game” the other night. And it occurred to me that the two main characters are both in the business of pitching (a writer, an mlb pitcher), but they have the opposite definition of what a successful pitch looks like. Or maybe they just like to bicker.

Years ago, I wrote a play about a chef, loosely based on Coriolanus — Fiennes played him in the movie so his casting in the Menu was an absolute delight to me. How do I get a copy of my play into his hands?! #hatm

Bookriot: i think there’s going to come a time when We look at the leash less The two greatest detectives Walk off-stage together. Chet and Bosch. (Bernie would try)

Just finished a reread of The Dead Zone and I gotta say, I think we’re in a “Greg Stillson won” timeline. Sorry Johnny. You did your best.

I am very late to the Emily St John Mandel party, which is great for me because I can Very Hungry Caterpillar at my leisure. Just finished The Singer’s Gun. Read Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility last week. Popping into the local Used with fingers crossed.

Everything is horrible and I’m grief-eating straight hollandaise sauce left over from Brunch, but/and the making of a thing with hands still helps. Look at these lil Seattle Dig Bites.

Hey there, downtown Seattle, is that shady looking hi rise with a sky bridge on fire? Or is someone enthusiastically grilling? Saw it from I5, looked like one of the consumer safety fried Turkey disaster videos, up there on the roof.

There’s a lot going on, but I’m going to spend the day thinking about the Ghosts UK finale. Might clap on some old furs and go as Robin for Halloween, an idea that absolutely will not survive until late October… Hell, we might all be dressed in old skins and moth-eaten furs by late October.

It’s that beautiful time of year in Seattle when the weather forecast swings from city-stopping snow, to sunny and bracingly cold. Not unique to here, of course, but I feel like the weather forecasters must be exhausted.
