And then there’s all the rest of us, paying into it every month of our working lives, with no option to opt out, while also being told that it won’t be there for us.

The idea of giving Musk (or Zuck, or Buffett, or whoever) five large every month offends my basic sense of fairness and seems like a stupid policy to me. But people seem terrified of "means testing," so we'll just keep doing it.

These people shrugged off Trump calling for "Second Amendment people" to take care of Hillary, laughed off the attack on Paul Pelosi, breezed past Melissa Hortman's murder, called a gun-toting cop-assault January 6 mob "tourists," waved away would-be MAGA assassins like Cesar Sayoc ...

If kidnapped, what would you post that would alarm your followers without the kidnappers knowing you're asking for help? “The world is too stressful so I’m just going to tune out and be a trad wife.”

The important thing to remember with Hegseth is that absolutely everyone told Trump he was unqualified and ill-suited to the job but Trump picked him anyway, and every Republican senator except McConnell, Murkowski and Collins voted to confirm him. Every Democrat voted against him.

We've seen videos like this before, but usually when you see a tearful wife pleading with the kidnappers who have taken her husband, she's not talking to the U.S. president

Abrego Garcia's wife: "I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn't forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home ... they miss their dad so much."

I keep thinking that they’re doing all of this by group chat b/c some of the team goes to MAL every weekend for fundraisers & isn’t in DC to meet. But also, they’re doing all this w/o POTUS b/c he’s only interested in grifting & tweeting. I don’t think we even have a president right now.

This is what happens when you have an entire cabinet full of folks who would NEVER pass a regular security clearance. Led by a president who would never be able to pass one either.

As a journalist who spent the last 22 years married to a Green Beret, and both of us catching so much shit about how I was going to “leak secrets”, it’s slightly satisfying—but also TERRIFYING— that the only person in that chat practicing OPSEC was the JOURNALIST.

THREAD: There’s a dire situation in Vietnam, at the largest Agent Orange spill in the country. When Trump and Marco Rubio cancelled foreign aid, froze funding and began dismantling USAID, those who were cleaning up the Bien Hoa air base had to halt work. 1/

I wish there were still people alive who witnessed Hitler’s rise to power because I’d like to know if his people were all cringey douchebags too.

Just an obvious point that anyone with the inside word on when these these total reversals are going to be announced is in a position to make almost limitless amounts of money. Don't forget that given the kind of people who make up this administration.

Maybe dem reps could hold their own state of the union on the Capitol steps. Steal the spotlight. Let members like AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Max Frost, and the DNC make remarks. Norms don't exist. Buck them.
