I have actually hit physical and mental burnout. Doctor at the satellite hospital has stressed that I need to actually rest. So spending the night in obs and on some meds to help take the edge of things. Work is going to give me hell, but fuck it. Gonna redraw this Fornax cover idea.

With the recent news about the VA Eric Bauza’s unfortunate passing, I decided to draw Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner as a tribute to his legacy. Thank you, Eric. You will be missed.

My personal game horror: Vashj'ir You go down... down... down... and down even more and there are giant sea monsters I never felt so uncomfortable but at same time it was beautiful

So for starters, you changed the phrase from "it's not for me" to "it's not for you" and yeah, I think that does carry a much different implication, and yes, it is PROBABLY being used as a form of stifling criticism. However, that's not what I'm trying to say.

So what I'm saying is that taking a personal stance, hell, taking a BREATH, and saying "I don't like this and that's fine," would be helpful to so many people. We could also change that to taking the personal stance of "someone else doesn't like what I like, and that's also okay."

I wish I had some really smart thing to say to end this thread but I'm a sleepy lizard at the moment, but hey, this was a great excuse to get me to write some clarifying remarks on what I was saying, so thanks for that. ^^

Trying to make one's tastes objective fact is the problem here. It's trying to make their tastes "correct" and anybody else's tastes "incorrect." We can say that subjectivity in critique is implied, but the way people talk about media nowadays makes me feel like that implication is being lost.

Because of that, we see a LOT more fighting that gets aggressive and mean about defending or attacking different pieces of art and media. (And really this is an issue with the internet at large more than anything. Screen anonymity is a hell of a drug.)

I'm trying to say that being more open and upfront about the subjectivity of one's opinions is better than trying to apply incorrect objectivity to the value of a piece of media. For example, saying "this horror movie is bad because the protagonist made a stupid choice and got killed."

Is it bad? Because I don't think so. And already there's a discrepancy in the objective fact of whether the movie is "good" or not. BUT, if the person says "I hate it when the character makes dumb choices and gets killed for it, it hurts the movie for me" That's VALID! And I support that.
