Unfortunately THE COTTAGE has been hit with a copyright claim and blocked in multiple countries. I disputed it (Fair Use) but it was rejected. If you still wanna see it, it’s available ad-free on my Patreon. I am exhausted.

!! NEW VIDEO !! We explore Britain’s most underrated horror comedy: THE COTTAGE (2008) youtu.be/cOunZFdGfvE Comments and shares appreciated!

I just did the policy training to remove the strike and one of YouTube’s answers literally supports my reason for appeal! It’s obvious fake, fictional content.

I edit out the EXACT THING YouTube claims violated their guidelines and they STILL REJECTED it?!

My video was removed due to apparent “child safety”. It’s a one second clip of 2 kids playing with toy guns late into a near 19 minute video about a fictional YouTube series. Understandable in theory, but context should matter.

YouTube has rejected my appeal without explanation. There is ZERO material in here that goes against community guidelines. This is unjustified and impacts viewership and my livelihood. And yet, they’re happy to keep platforming dishonest and harmful individuals.

I still haven’t had an answer and the video’s performance is now dead in the water.

FACES OF DEATH (2026) plays it painfully safe as a meta commentary on our online desensitisation. Content moderation is a ripe concept for a modern reimagining of an allusive mondo film but the story devolves into a generic serial killer remaking art without a relevant point.

HOPE is Na Hong-jin‘s first film in 10 years since the horror masterpiece The Wailing. It is a bonkers action sci-fi that never takes its foot off the pedal while traversing a bumpy, bloody road.

It leaves you to piece together the context from in medias res worldbuilding, with a brilliantly subversive ending that will inevitably alienate anyone expecting answers to its utter chaos.

Zach Cregger goes 3 for 3 with RESIDENT EVIL (2026) — a The Thing-esque fusion of survival horror games that celebrates the emotional rollercoaster of escalating dread. Funny, frantic and faithfully adapted in essence, if admittedly I wished for a bit more T-virus fanfare.

I’m out of the loop on the INSIDIOUS series, so I had nonexistent expectation. Hoyever… OUT OF THE FURTHER is a bit of campy fun, if empty on scares. 6 movies in you know what to expect but it has a modestly touching story reminiscent of Poltergeist and Nightmare on Elm Street.

This creates the fundamental problem of inflation. More views look nice but the quality and public perception of the view goes down, meaning clients and advertisers will demand higher returns in exchange for payout. Then we get hyperinflation because it’s now easier artificially inflate views.

YouTube announces that views will now be counted from the first second of a video starting August 24th. Previously, viewers had to watch for 30 seconds for it to count as a view.

Being reminded of viewers who experience media second-hand through my videos (for valid reasons) has really helped me adapt how I write scripts. First 1/4 is a hyper focused consolation of my opinion and then I try to guide specific observations along the linear path of the story. Results vary.

THE END OF OAK STREET is a strange and whimsical Spielbergian hybrid that’s unafraid to lean into the darker edges of Jurassic Park. The frequent long shots give us lots to look and the human drama is touching, yet I can’t help but feeling longing for something more out of it.
