Revisiting my dieselpulp setting after a long absence. The suit of armor is made of specially treated layers of silk reinforced with steel alloy plates, and is jokingly referred to as a 'combat apron.' It's mostly for protection against shrapnel & low-velocity projectiles.

Le Balayeur, 'The Sweeper.' A Ferrax chassis modified over the centuries with a focus on arm & shoulder strength, with ribbon-style muscle cables for better redundancy & power density compared to the original fittings. A famed Vessal, passed down through the House of Chien Argenté.

Granval -- An early Vessal design. Following the loss of the empire/alliance & its manufacturing/logistics capabilities, it was brought back to limited production due to its relative simplicity. Downgraded to a 'Lessal' by substituting the essential miracoil with a pseudocoil.

Gafrzey--An original Ferrax, its internal chassis mostly intact after a millenium. Time & battle has taken its toll; externals replaced on countless occasions and performance degraded by the centuries. It now guards a backwater with nothing better than beast leather & small metal plates for armor.

Haven't drawn people in quite a while. Evauline Brotmeister, hafling mercenary. An odd career choice for a reputably risk-averse subspecies originally engineered as a game/food animal. For a personal setting.

So it's the usual suspects AGAIN with this new censorship push on Pixiv & Celsys, targeting even mainstream works indiscriminately. (VISA & Mastercard, and likely the Collective Shits from Down Under) A pox, nay, the mark of the devil on the foreheads of all those responsible.

Celsys & CSP have managed to avoid controversy for years, but looks like they've stepped into big doo-doo this time with their obfuscation & scapegoating (possibly due to some retarded UK govt thing). I personally use nothing but default materials so am generally unaffected, but nevertheless...

Just watched the latest ep. of Clevatess, and there's these short sequences that instantly give an uncanny yet familiar feel, whereupon you realize these are actual miniatures being blown up and run through a filter. Incidentally, the director previously worked on a lot of tokusatsu (Ultraman).

Lost internet access for a week thanks to a confluence of events but service finally restored thankfully. (One technician taking less than ten minutes to fix things somewhere up the line)

A Vessal of the cruder sort oft-seen in the hands of minor realms or exceptional individuals. Constructed from locally-sourced parts built upon a core of critical components made elsewhere & obtained by various means. Crude, yes, but still a war machine of the first order.

Thus ends a really good show that, at 24 episodes, had the runtime to properly develop its characters & themes. It's ostensibly an urban fantasy, but take away the trappings & Yuusha no Kuzu fits right into the cyberpunk genre. 1/3

Things escalated surprisingly quickly from the initial comedic premise--I have to wonder how it would've looked given the same budget as the author's other work. And while we're at it, Madhouse with Kawajiri at the helm fresh from making Oedo 808. May as well go all the way, right? 3/3

Incidentally, Yashiro the Reaper & Xylo Forbartz are pretty much polar opposites (although deep down, there's an idealistic core in Yashiro that Aki probably saw right from the start).

Yashiro & his associates are violent, murderous lowlifes, demon lords stand in for corpos, physically enhanced street gangs & muscles-for-hire abound, the E3 drug enables transhumanism in various ways and many of the episodes wallow in grungy urban squalor. 2/3

Reading the manga after the show concluded, and the anime was pretty much a 1:1 adaptation...which makes me think this was written as a straight-up satire, wasn't it? Like, every 3 or 4 pages there's someone obligated to say "Amazing!" "Sasuga Noah-sama!"

Thinking of how everyone back then settled on KC's 'CV shipgirls are archers' design paradigm only for KC to do a rug pull afterwards by debuting the first USN CV in the game, USS Saratoga, with a Thompson SMG flightdeck. Subsequent USN CV would all be armed with guns.

Reinstalled HBS BT after 4+yrs, now w/BTA mod Art productivity: "I'm still drawing--just in my head." Currently airing shows: "I'll just binge it later." The addiction of sandblasting someone's torso away with the BHA-2S' magshots that I somehow snagged early in the campaign. #Battletech

Didn't realize there was a Goblin week, how timely. Anyways, an Ostrovian Goblin Boltist, a versatile infantry type whose short stature offers certain advantages & disadvantages. See alt-text for the technical blablah.

There's a highly visible trend over the past decade in how dungeons are treated more & more often in JP pop media as exploitable resources/business opportunities, probably due mainly to videogame grinding for mats & drops. Influences go both ways.

I get the impression that, after the latest blatant ICEtrocity, a number of 2A-adjacent people on the other site want to speak out against it but can only give the vaguest milquetoast fence-sitting responses in order not to offend & lose a significant chunk of their followers. Musk-trapped.

Resetting my mental state after hyperfocusing on something for the past month. Older-style asgear sized for dwarves. The proportions are a bit misleading due to the helm's bulk & the oversized pauldrons protecting the shoulder mechanisms.

Happy 2026, everybody! Keep that hope alive, yeah? Also, my New Year's resolution will be to finally get around to figuring out Blender.

Oh man, it's been like what, 5 years? since the last time someone said this. Time sure flew by while in sealed-room simulator Namek. (NO, TIME DID NOT FLY BY)

Elf in hybrid armor powered by 3 different methods--external frame + servos, muscle cables & direct magical enhancement of the wearer's limbs. Elven mental architecture offers an advantage in controlling the sub-arm.

Anyways, Clevatess was a fantastic show, even though everyone had a tendency to infodump monologue. Hopefully there'd be a second season as the last scene teases.

Turkey!'s shaping up quite well, with the latest episode dealing with the girls' 21st century morality running head-first into the Sengoku era. As usual, Mai with her terminal case of foot in mouth disease leading the charge upon hearing of Sumomo's arranged marriage. 1/x

The last bandit ambushes Suguri who's at disadvantage w/out her armor, which leaves Sayuri with a hard choice. Btw, she's strong enough to haul around Suguri with just one arm. The bandit's skull was likely caved in by the big rock. Impressive death gurgles from the VA as Suguri ends it. 4/x

TOTAL BANDIT DEATH I feel that this is pretty much the point where the harsh realities of the time really soak in on an existential level with the girls. 2/x

This hits hardest with Sayuri, the most timid of the girls, who has a moral crisis upon learning of Suguri's plan to hunt down the remaining bandit, concluding their preemptive action (total bandit death). 3/x
