We're excited to show off the hard work the community put into the deadly hunts!

For years, building a complete, browsable and dynamic archive has been the white whale of Council member @natecow.com. Learn about the latest progress and how it's been achieved in the latest news post: sabercomp.com/feed/buildin... Want to be part of the archive? SC 2026 deadline is in 71 days!

sabercomp.comBuilding The Real ArchiveBack in February, I wrote about the playlist checker tool I had built with Claude that helped us monitor YouTube links in our Notion database. In that, I referenced the elusive "Official Archive" that we've mentioned over the years. Freaking years. That's what it's been. I've

And zaandarbrow shared this behind-the-scenes clip introducing himself and his combatants at a very cool-looking location. "Alright, 3-2-1-action, KILL EACH OTHER!" Couldn't have said it better myself!

And now, some teasers from the SaberComp Discord server! Contestant RussianJedi shared this teaser ON ANNOUNCEMENT DAY. Impressive, most impressive!

Should quiz performance impact eligibility to be on the Council? 🤔 We think everyone's done pretty well, don't you?

Testing will continue until scores improve! Oh wait, scores are higher than last time. Look at that! Play along with the latest saber quiz and see how you do! www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLod... (Testing may still continue, regardless.)

(No, quiz performance does NOT impact Council membership, the same way that whether you are not a Master has no bearing. Just gotta do right by the community!)

We have some SMART community members. Congrats to everyone who participated! (And look out for the plug for SC2026: The Purge!)

How much do you know about lightsabers? Is it as much as SaberComp community memebers? I had a lot of fun making this quiz, and the contestants had a bunch of fun taking it! What better thing to watch on this A New Hope theatrical anniversary day? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgr2...

Ready your sabers, Competitors, because SaberComp 2026: The Purge is here! Show us the most terrifying scenes you can imagine from the Jedi Purge, whether it’s Order 66 or the terrifying years that followed. Learn more at sabercomp.com/rules

It's Star Wars month! Can you feel it? May the 4th - and the next SaberComp - are right around the corner. This one will not be for the faint of heart! Se you there...

While Overall Winner is often considered from a combination of all of the judging criteria, special awards are given to entries that embody a category. While Star Wars: The Last Mistake won Overall for SaberComp 2025, it also took home Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Choreography.

2nd Overall—Zatoichi - The Blind Jedi Master—also took home the prize for the newest category, Best Costumes. And entries that didn't even make the top three also got awards: Shatterpoint for Best Visual Effects, Dungeons & Dark Side for Production Design, and The Secret Apprentice for Use of Theme.

The award categories allow teams to aim for a specific aspect of making a saberfilm. Do you want to make the best fight choreography? There's where you're competing! And someone else may want to hone their craft in editing. Whatever you aim for while making a film, there's a category for you!

"Controversy," you ask? A shortened version was submitted for the 2-minute time limit, and with its intro, it still exceeded that time. Rules were made clearer in future competitions - a lesser-known way that the legacy of RvD lives on!
