"The homepage spent most of its ~450–600ms server time in dayjs. Its timezone plugin costs ~46µs per .tz() call (nightOf made four), about 380µs per event, which comes to ~140ms for this week's 355 events on an M-series Mac." oh okay. Temporal now runs this whole thing in 5ms.

The data comes from a mix of sources. It's not comprehensive, but there's enough coverage for the basics. If you see bad data, take note of it and we'll circle back to figure out how to triage it all. If you see bad data often or this is hindering your experience, that's worth noting too.

Genres are basically impossible to 'do correctly', for a multitude of reasons and I have hesitation about presenting any "bad" data, but I don't want perfect to be the enemy of good either. All feedback welcome.

This is an experiment, some aspects of it will work and some won't. This includes filters so you can drill down shows with no cover charges, and other details. After the trial period on web, the features will come to the mobile app if it works and we feel it is sustainable.

if going public becomes a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders, how does that not cut incentives directly against dario's stated fears and goals

I got a spam email offering a flexible line of credit, but it was acronym'd as LOC and I thought they were offering me a liberal token spend in lines of code

the earnest answer, chopped into a wholly reductive form, is: it gracefully degrades

"However, the level of social media amplification around this incident has brought scrutiny that is out of proportion to [every single thing I've ever done]"

Thought I walked by a place called “the burgery” but a tree was blocking the beginning of the sign and it was “surgery” 😩😩😩

if a jamband ever decides to write a song called one of "banter", "tuning", "crowd noise", or "encore break" or anything of the like I will ban you and your band from relisten with extreme prejudice

Tapped In 9.0.0 is submitted to the app store. Thanks LLMs for making the upgrade and parity process much easier.

Watching your fields’ boundaries pushed is exciting, and it doesn’t yet quite replace the humans at the forefront of their respective fields - so it’s less threatening to the ego. But accepting that before and after involves some very real grief - grief that we often tend to paper over or downplay.

It doesn’t feel anecdotally that most serious scientific professionals (mathematicians, software engineers) denigrate AI as much as wrestle with how to adapt to the world in which it exists To say these fields contained no creativity is false, but they are also not pure creativity alone.

Parquet courts in a Starbucks commercial? It’s not really worth judging so harshly, but it’s antithetical to the entire message of the album. 🤮🤮🤮🤮

when silicon valley came out I thought the biting satire of "make the world a better place" was hilarious because people barely said it out loud, even though it was often the undercurrent of their mission statement and then in the following decade people began saying it word for word
