At the Parliamentary Friends of Clean Air Quality reception in Canberra this evening, parliamentarians and representatives of organisations supporting a National Healthy Air Strategy came together to discuss the path to national action.

“If the act of breathing in a space makes someone sick, access isn’t equitable and it’s time to change that.” - Plum Stone, The Safer Air Project More than 80 organisations have joined the call, and individuals can sign too.

To everyone travelling to Canberra, safe travels - we’re looking forward to seeing you tomorrow! We’re honoured to be presenting Safer shared air 2026 in conjunction with supporting organisations AIRAH, Centre for Safe Air and Public Health Action Network .

A huge thank you to Gold supporters Public Health Action Network, bronze supporters PlasmaShield, QED Environmental Services, SAN-AIR Australia Pty Ltd and Smart Air, and annual supporting partners Airgene, Blue IoT, Camfil Australia & New Zealand, Condair Australia and Precise Air Group.

We’re looking forward to welcoming speakers and attendees from across health, research, workplace safety, standards, policy and advocacy for a day of discussion about the air we share, and to present the case for a National Healthy Air Strategy.

Campaign week is off and running! From today until 1 Nov, orgs around the world are coming together to shine a light on the air we share indoors, raise awareness of why indoor air quality matters and encourage more organisations to make information about the air we breathe publicly available.

🌟 Participant spotlight: Air Aurora 🌟 For Air Aurora, making indoor air quality visible isn't a new idea. Over the past decade, they've been working to make real-time air quality information openly available, so people can better understand the live conditions in the spaces they use every day.

🧐 Why should indoor air quality be visible? 🧐 When you walk into a building, how much do you really know about the air you're breathing? For the vast majority of us, the answer is not much at all. That's why we created the Making the invisible visible campaign.

We are deeply grateful to have been part of this process, with our founder Plum Stone invited to give evidence to the inquiry. Plum and her daughter were also delighted to be at NSW Parliament this morning for the tabling of the report by committee chair Dr Amanda Cohn MLC.

Thank you to Dr Cohn, the committee and everyone who shared their expertise and lived experience with the inquiry. We look forward to hearing Dr Cohn speak more about the inquiry and its findings at our Safer shared air conference in Canberra next week.

The Safer Air Project was founded with a mission to have indoor air quality recognised as a critical accessibility and inclusion issue. To see this reflected so clearly in the inquiry’s findings means a great deal to us, and to the communities we advocate for.

We also welcome Finding 7, which recognises that: “Poor indoor air quality in some New South Wales classrooms could potentially impact student learning and increase the risk of transmission of airborne illnesses, with subsequent impact on attendance as well as families and the broader community.”

We particularly welcome Finding 4: “Clean indoor air in public buildings is essential to support accessibility and equity of access for people with a range of chronic health conditions and their families.”

From 26 October - 1 November, organisations around the world will be coming together during our campaign week, raising awareness of indoor air quality and why making this information available to users of a space matters.

At Safer shared air 2026, we’ll look at what Australia is already doing, where the gaps remain, and what a National Healthy Air Strategy could look like. If you support national action on indoor air, we’d love you to be there in person and show your support.
