Fasting my cat for over 12 hours has been an experience (needs a second x-ray because the first one didn't..see enough? I guess?) Wasn't aware that she'd just straight up refuse to sleep. It is 3AM and I'm playing fetch with her to try to pass the hours until we can finally go back

This kitten has both decided that, even on good days, I'm not allowed to sleep more than 5 hours a night /and/ to be sure to strip my savings dry the second I rebuild it. Good thing she is very sweet and very cute

This year has been bad on a personal level (great projects, nice job changes…but beyond that, hard) and the only thing keeping me going is strangers complimenting my clothes

From my 2022 Monster Mashtober run: The Four Horsewomen. I've drawn them a few times now and I keep wanting to make a full color version of these, but alas life keeps getting away from me

Portland Winter has started. You have weeks of 70 degree weather with sun and one day the rain starts and doesn’t stop until May. It can start in September, it can start in October, it can start later in November But today it has begun and I have to prepare for the dark

Did the annual Over the Garden Wall rewatch last night while packing prints for my upcoming markets🎃 Reminded me of the wonderful time I had drawing some work honoring the show for @gallerynucleus when they hosted the Back to the Unknown: Over the Garden Wall 10th Anniversary Tribute Show

Buying new things for my tabling setup is a wild adventure in wishing I had any woodworking or construction skills (or access to the ability to cut stuff out), cause oh boy getting exactly what I need is expensive (but hopefully will look great!)

In case anyone needs to feel any schadenfreude, I went to a show tonight and while the headliner was doing crowd work multiple audience members revealed they worked in AI and the roar of boos after was deafening

She's finally drawing again in between grading! I am a pretty messy sketcher, a huge way I really dive into messing around and figuring out anatomy is drawing something and then moving parts around so you can see some of those choppy moments where I clearly moved something or fussed with it

Still not happy with the face or front legs, but I'll work on it and I'm going to add some foliage around the dog and hopefully have this and a handful of new animals and fruits for sale for the holiday markets I'm in!

Changing my tabling setup a bit, and my color palette frankly after going to street fairs all summer and sorta seeing doppelgängers of my own table? Happy to have inspired, and refuse to be weird about it…but gotta move on to a new thing to keep standing out

Just making a much more intense palette and buying some weirder display stuff that will be a bit more hard to replicate (the intense palette will go either way with buyers…but here is to hoping it is attention grabbing haha)

Finally got out today and found the perfect little ghost pumpkin! My new cat’s separation anxiety is getting better with training and routine and it is great to know she is okay alone for a few hours now🎃

The impact both of how much healthcare has been made harder to afford and get (as well as affording daily basics) and how much stress this administration puts on the average American will have health ramifications for decades to come. People severely underestimate how bad stress is on the body

It would shock anyone who lives outside the US how much going to ER for a few hours cost me. It would shock anyone how much I pay a month on how much I make and STILL am billed for basic medical care The constant and ongoing attack on our abilities to ill and get care is likely the point

In a world where that stress increases by the day (it would be amazing to have a boring news day) I worry about myself and others I worry about how purposefully this sort of neglect of care will become, how this government wants to makes sure some people don't make it to the other side of this all

I told the owner of the restaurant I got hired at that I was a grad of the college her son was applying to. She seemed to hate this for some reason and spent a week kinda torturing me and then told me it was all a “working interview” and sent me a paycheck for that one week of work

This post is unavailable.

The staff was blindsided (it was really awkward, they had given me like opening keys and all this stuff I had to return) and I just left and decided I was gunna try my hand at never working in food again. So to be fair I guess it helped me? This place also went out of business recently so!

You know the American medical system is bad when the phlebotomist taking your blood and you are joking about how you both have rules with friends about how under no circumstances is an ambulance to be called unless we’re literally about to die

Not looking forward to the inevitable jump in insurance costs this year, can’t believe we as a country moved on so fast from all of our insurance plans nearly doubling in cost last time

My roommate had her ACL basically snap in half a few years ago and she screamed at the people around her to not call an ambulance (and she has decent insurance tied to her employment), luckily her co-worker drove her to the ER This is no way to live

It has been lovely to get to start with a new cat (well two in a way), for as much as I miss Seti I can take everything I learned over having him for 16 years and have a smoother ride with Pomona Things I’m able to do better this time: 1. Pet insurance 2. Better food 3. SO much enrichment

Seti had a great life, don’t get me wrong. I put so much time and money into him and he lived well until the end…but I still was so poor when I got him (and frankly had only had dogs mostly before him) and wasn’t able to give him the things I wanted from the start. I’m glad I can now

My mom is really against small talk (this is really weird in the US) in a way that is very intense, going so far as to literally tell people she won’t answer them and it has been baffling me my whole life Today someone just asked “isn’t that just cause your mom’s German?” Which…tbh may be right

The Hippocampus is a mythical creature with the front of a horse and the back half of a fish. They've been portrayed by cultures from the Ancient Greeks to the Picts and beyond My take here is partly based on a black-figure amphora from the 6th century BCE that currently is displayed in the Louvre

The hungry harpy may have bitten off more than she can chew Welcome to my 2025 Monster Mashtober! What is that you may ask? It is my own personal month long challenge with no themes, lists, or rules other than to draw whatever creature I want. So, what monster do you want me to draw?

Got faced with the question of how AI is any different than how I or other artists draw in programs (Procreate, Clip Studio, Photoshop, etc), and I truly had some choice words (a very long and boring explanation). That being said, the misconception of us pressing a button and art being made lives on

Truly a blast from the past and ironic how fast someone gets dejected when I say my work is digital, but also a wild twist when they say how much they love AI “art” Double whammy

I always wanted to be the sweet, soft friend but I recently found out that I am the friend in the group that people would want on their side for a fight which is honestly more flattering

Coming up on two months with Pom! She loves to play fetch, enjoys belly rubs, has endless energy, and lays on my face (her fur is so fine it basically suffocates me) to wake me up multiple times a night (then excitedly bumps her face into my nose, here’s to hoping she doesn’t break my nose haha)

Haven’t gotten a chance to sleep through the night since I adopted her, but Seti didn’t let me sleep through the night for 15 out of his 16 years of life so I’ll survive (but still hope against hope she outgrows it)
