Just your typical left-wing, pinko socialist, feminist, trade unionist, anti-oppression accomplice. I love humans in theory, although not so much in practice.

Media was all over Avi Lewis for his reflections on the genocide. But after a major newspaper appeared to threaten him β€” a major party leader β€”and his family as a result, the media fell all but silent.

Carney's first-ever project designated as being in the β€œnational interest" is...a crude oil pipeline. That means the oil pipeline can bulldoze past environmental laws, impact assessments, and Indigenous consultation. It can also kill all of Vancouver's orcas. Here's what you need to know:

Mark Carney isn't Captain Canada. Or, I guess, maybe he is.

Michael Nabert@sustainablesong.bsky.social

Mark Carney is setting reconciliation & indigenous rights back by decades with consistent attacks on indigenous rights & racially targeted budget cuts that violate Canadian law. He offers empty lip service in press statements but contempt for first nations in his policy. bsky.app/profile/did:...

Members of Parliament are back in Ottawa today for a fresh session of clip farming in the House of Commons. The first order of business? An omnibus bill that labour leaders warn will weaken Canadian workers’ right to strike, and that environmental groups say will bulldoze nature:

It can't be Lake America. That won't fit into the lyrics of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It doesn't even rhyme with "below." Sorry, Donald, but that's how it is according to the Rule of Gordon.

In Ontario, the Coalition for Better Healthcare is having a day of action on Tuesday September 1st at noon. Happening at an MP's office near you. Find out where and join the people fighting to protect your healthcare.

Canada, understand this clearly: 1) Doctors didn't build publicly funded healthcare. You did 2) Most of you can't afford private, profiteer healthcare 3) Doctors aren't going to fix this. We follow the money, just like you 4) Only the public can save publicly funded healthcare ~Raghu Venugopal MD

Hey so this is exactly why im critical of unearned majorities and it doesn't matter if it's your prefered party or not.

Laws should be passed through genuine consensus, not whichever party wins a handful of swing ridings. Proportional representation creates a vital check on threats to the rule of law by requiring true multi-party agreements, rather than the whims of a single party. www.thestar.com/politics/pol...

When I read the nonsense that liberals write on bluesky, I understand why the fascists have gained power in the US. Most liberals wouldn't know a progressive thought if it bit them on the ass. You uphold the barriers to equality while patting yourself on the back for not supporting Trump.

Just go to an older cemetery and take a look at the stones for children around the turn of the 20th century. Take a look at the women who died in childbirth after being attended by physicians who went from autopsies to births without washing their hands. THAT'S what happened. We didn't survive.

You know that feeling you get when you look at the news and think, "kids will be studying this picture in History class someday"? Yeah.

She has a point. Simply, the hypocrisy of these two morally impaired old, white men is appalling. They should both be in prison for their illegal actions. Period.

Very cool Carney is going to drive the Southern Resident population of this species to extinction so we can appease Alberta separatists with an oil pipeline that will never be profitable (unless the world decides to embrace a climate catastrophe)

Orcas have been heard mimicking human speech. A study found that when prompted, the marine mammal could replicate the sounds. Original post

The US is learning cuts today = unsafe food tomorrow but Carney doesn't seem to be learning the lesson. Gov is cutting CFIA inspectors & closing 7 research farms. Recalls up 150%. Take action β†’ FoodSafetyFirst.ca #FoodSafetyFirst

I appreciate that the point is that the American numbers are criminal but, as a Canadian, I'm not happy about where we are on the list. We are only 1/10 the population of the US so that's like 3000, if you scale up to the US pop. I bet they were predominately indigenous and racialized.

My problems with Andor are (1) the casual sexism and racism dressed up as "antifascist," (2) the fact that it fails as a prequel to Rogue One, and (3) that as bad as I thought the show was when it first aired, Gilroy won't stop talking about it and making it worse.

This the correct way to deal with Star Wars fans. #starwars #andor #tonygilroy

So, I know he made a show that ruined Rogue One for me, that engaged in unexamined sexist and racist tropes like white creators often do, and that he can't seem to stop patting himself on the back for, even as he's required to "explain" it to people. I know what show he made and I can criticize it.

Setting up a Strawman argument to beat down, like he does here, is not surprising given the quality of work he has consistently produced. His movies are trite, trope-driven, and mediocre. If he doesn't want to hear/see criticism, then he can f*ck off.

Maybe because I'm not part of the fandom being served, it's easier for me to see the failings of Andor. Any creator that hates a committed and engaged fandom is serving their own ego over the creation. And that's probably Gilroy in a sentence.
