Sam

I’ve got quite a few more followers than when I started, so let me introduce myself again! Hi, I’m Sam. I’m an out transgender FTM man and I review books. I am liberal, believer in human and animal rights, and an advocate for positive social change. I love reading and drawing and I am a safe space.

I'm coming back with an all new perspective and pillar of my work.

Mamdani is trying to prevent New York’s power grid from failing, you idiot. 78° by choice is a lot better than 100° without electricity.

Can you give me a TV show recommendation? Any streaming service. I just finished watching Boulet Brothers Titans season 2 for like the 3rd time but I am addicted.

I rejoined X to see what it was like still, hasn’t changed. So I’m back!

I am a month and a half ahead on posts scheduled on Substack. This is a powerful feeling of efficiency that I have not been used to. If you like book reviews and literature analysis, from someone who is not traditionally qualified but adores books, then I’m your guy! #booksky #writing #substack

Not a bad collection of books this month! Snake Eater and Royal Assassin and Strength Of The Few were my favorites this month. Have you read any of these? #booksky #reading

Getting some deeper immersion in science fiction lately. Reading We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis Taylor and Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio. Both are very enjoyable so far! What are you reading this weekend? #booksky #writesky #sciencefiction #books

The true mark of any writer is setting self imposed deadlines on yourself, and then stressing over the self imposed deadlines. #writesky #booksky #substack #bookreviews #books #reading

My off days from work have now been funneled into planning, outlining, more reading, and writing, and now illustrating for my Substack letters and reviews. I’m having a lot of fun. What part of the process do you enjoy? #bookreviews #substack #reading #booksky #illustration

I built my library from the ground up and spent a lot of time making it truly special. I wrote about my creative space and I'm inviting you to share it now. Let me know what you think! #booksky #libraries #personallibrary #books #reading #fantasy #fiction #literature

What do you listen to as you write? I'm listening to ambient sounds from a dark academia YouTube livestream. And my cats playing with their toys. Sometimes I put British Bakeoff on the TV on low, especially if I want to keep the writing vibes happy. #writing #booksky #writesky #fiction #fantasy

Good morning! What are we reading today? I just started We Are Legion and I finished Kagan The Damned last night! #Booksky #reading #books #scifi #fantasy #grimdark

Being a queer creator is tough, but when you're a trans author, your trans identity tends to get in the way of whatever you're trying to create. So I want to get ahead of it. Subscribe for more and thank you for supporting me! #Queerauthors #Writing #Trans #LGBTQIA #Writesky

As I write my world building plan, I remember why I love it so much. It’s a Minecraft world in my mind, pouring onto the page. Inspired by countless influences but unique to me. What’s your favorite part of your world building journey? #booksky #writers #reading #books

What are you reading today? I’m reading Assassins Quest by Robin Hobb. Her work is delightful even when it makes me sad. Poor Fitz. #booksky #reading #books

Holy buckets. At 33 years old, this is what I’ve achieved so far with my reading. I don’t think that audiobook number is accurate though. #booksky #reading #books

samreads.com/2026/01/03/r... Are we creating too much pressure on ourselves to set reading goals? I wrote about it here. #reading #booksky #readinggoals #books

What do people want out of a book blog? What would get you to want to read what I write about books that other people wrote?

I organized some of my shelves after fitting in what I got for Christmas, and I don’t know, is there such a thing as too many tchotchkes? Let’s see your bookshelves! #booksky #reading #bookshelves #books

Psst. Hey, come closer. No, closer. I have a New Year’s secret for you. It’s this: If you care about people you don’t even know, and try to live your life that way, you are absolutely beautiful no matter what you look like.

Reader roundup! What are you reading tonight?? How are you liking it? #booksky #reading #books #goodbooks

Ebooks are reading. Audiobooks are reading. Graphic novels are reading. Pulp reading is reading. Adults reading YA is reading. It's all good, my friends. Don't let anyone tell you different.

First read of the year! If you’ve read this book, or this series, how do you like it? I really liked the first book. #booksky #reading #books

Cleaning and listening to an audiobook and making homemade caramels today.

That was a great game, I’m not upset the Bears lost. Caleb has accuracy issues but they can be improved. Now my blood pressure needs to come down!

Give me your best advice for someone who wants to write a fantasy book? Any help is much appreciated! #booksky #writers #writingabook

Good morning. We are open. 📖☕️

This is my second VE Schwab novel that I’ve read (First was Vicious) and this one is as dark and twisty. It has a very strong feminine and sapphic theme with a strong supernatural variation on vampirism. #booksky #bookreview #books

From my family to yours, Happy Holidays! #christmas #holidays #dogs #germanshepherds

What’s your favorite book or book series you read this year? Mine is definitely Dungeon Crawler Carl! I started it not knowing what to expect and now it’s fascinating. I just finished the fifth book, Butchers Masquerade and it was incredible. #booksky #books #favoritebooks

Who’s your pick for the Bears-Ravens game tomorrow?

Working Dog, 5x7 colored pencils. Thanks for looking! Please let me know what you think! And yes, I did all that grass. #petportrait #drawing #illustration

Artists!! Please comment so I can follow you and help change my feed to more art!! #artsky #art #illustration

I’m actually really loving the small scale of 5x7 that I’m doing this on! Learning how to do wet fur has been a fun challenge! #artsky #coloredpencil #petportrait

And I’m back and drawing! Working on a hunting dog for a baby nursery for a commission. I’m happy that my coworkers believe in me and support my work! The work ahead to get this off the ground isn’t insurmountable, but your support will help! I love you guys, thank you!! #artsky #dogportrait

How many tabs open is too many? My wife looked over my shoulder at my browser and clutched her pearls at my 21 tabs. I've opened way more than that when I'm writing blog posts or doing research though.

I bought a home in January, and it's taken until now to feel pretty settled. But my creative workspace is all settled and my library is set up! I finally feel like I can draw and write in a creative space and not feel like there's something else I should be doing.

Alright readers, what are you reading? Show me pics!! #booksky

Who wants to see my new library?? #library #booklovers

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted. Whoops.

Tomorrow is my 33rd birthday. All I want to do is go to Costco and the Lego Store. Maybe Barnes & Noble. It’s the simple things.
