My nieces are entering the age where they want to develop their own taste and choose things to watch. That exercise in personal agency is important. I'm going to set up a media center that does not connect to the internet for them. Put up a retro console too. Absolutely no tablet moments from now on

Here's what I did in about 8? hours? the most complex and ambitious video I ever made lol www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWnD... scuffy, audio mixing is off, mspaint like drawings but hey, not bad for a hobby. I didn't know how to do this six months ago. and it's better than anything made with AI
I'm not streaming Blasphemous 2 today. I need to cook up a video and I'm still far from done. I'll show it to y'all after Leftist In-Fighting tomorrow.

what the fuck is wrong with bsky devs do they seriously not know they accidentally host the elder millenial internet retirement home. the median age for the bsky user is 35. what plausible excuse could there be? just fucking nuke the site if that's what you want. bsky devs clearly hate it.
CONCEPTUALIZATION [Medium: Success] - Basic. In any other circumstance it would be an empty platitude... But it is sincere. Raw. EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - From the side you catch the lieutenant barely suppressing a smile. He does not approve of the Graffito, but he thinks: 'He still has hope'.
I know it’s sorta cheesy but someone posted this from Paris on Reddit and I felt this immediate rush of hope

I'm out here sweating in the theory mines, discussing gender and race and tech, and these chucklefucks just tweet it out.
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Sorry for the delay, but reality overpowered me. Today we soldier through and finish Fear and Trembling. We will then reflect and ask: Is faith discernible from madness? Does faith have a place in modernity? How do we coexist with mystics in a society like ours? Live at www.twitch.tv/el_samio

This socialized labor is truly inescapable. The science of marxism IS invincible. The social labor is what makes these programs fulfill social needs, which is a type of intentionality, a thing LLMs do not, and can not, have. The work is unavoidable bsky.app/profile/sami...
I don't have the full math chops to turn this into a theorem, but I am as convinced of this as I'll ever be: Work is unavoidable. Information is a type of work. LLMs can approximate information work, even succeed when the domain is small enough, but on large domains, they can't match the work needed

No matter how good or lucky you might get with a vibecoded program, it can not make the same kind of work as an institutionalized group of code-maintainers and developers. A program that works reliably enough for people to build a craft around like photoshop can not exist reliably through vibecode.

Once again I stumble upon the fact that "AI" is not really innovative, even in the viced behavior it promotes. If you treat code like a product to be sold off and dumped, then that mentality already predisposes you to vibecode slop. Software as a social tool requires institutions, legacy, care.

I don't wanna go full Stallman (eww) here but seeing how hostile and predatory software has gotten, how it manipulates on purpose, how so many sites mine information and generally how opaque systems have become, maybe we need to be more demanding about open source and legibility in code.

To extend the metaphor in another direction: Code, programs and githubs from before 2020 or who have been kept with a strict watch to block "AI-"assisted code are like low-background steel now. So much code now has some background contamination that's gonna cause so many bugs down the line.
to drag out a metaphor i've used before: at this point AI code is like poop, in that there's microscopic particles of it all over the place. you should wash your hands. you should yell at people who proudly throw their poop around. but it is not your failure that you live in Poop World
Today is educational gaming day. Join me as I travel through the modern Cvstodia in search for secrets, meet the giant man breastfeeding his son and ponder what are the consequences of having to be intelligible to society after modernity disenchanted the world. Live at www.twitch.tv/el_samio

I kindof always suspected this was the case but it's wild to see it all laid out. The amount of game manipulation just to get you to watch an ad is astounding.
No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads
