@nobelprize.org Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Navi Pillay refused to accept that courage is needed to tell the truth. As @msf.ca has seen, naming war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide--through evidence, through law, through facts--has become an act of courage.

🧡 Today is #Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Denise Boucher was a Dene girl from Łutsel K'e. In 1943, she died at St. Joseph's residential school. Her family wasn't told for a year. She was buried without them. Her grave marker went missing.

#WorldHumanitarianDay is about remembrance. But increasingly, it is also a warning. Aid workers are being killed at record rates as the rules meant to protect them are eroded. The rules exist because we chose to write them. The world we want will exist only if we choose to defend them. @msf.ca

⚽️ #Congo’s first-ever #WorldCup knockout run ended today. 🩺While we cheered, our @msf.ca teams were showing up in Ituri, Bunia & Goma, 2 months into responding to an #Ebola disease outbreak. The game is over. The outbreak isn't. Don't forget eastern Congo when the final whistle blows.

Of the patients admitted to @msf.ca our #Ebola treatment ctr in #DRC, 68% of confirmed cases admitted are women. But there is hope. And our teams are clear about what it takes. The women of DRC deserve more than to be a statistic. They deserve a response & a hope that is radical. #HopeisRadical

⚽️In #Gaza, an estimated 421 footballers have been killed since 2023. More than 1,000 #Palestinian athletes total. The people we treat @msf.ca aren't categories. They're not just patients. They're people who loved the same things we do--including the beautiful game. #FIFAWorldCup2026 #Canada

You know what's a perfect storm? - A virus - A world where authoritarianism is rising - A world where multi-lateralism is failing - A WHO weakened by US exit - Deep, abrupt aid cuts by rich nations - Anti-scientific leadership in the US - Growing anti-vax movement - Disinformation is everywhere

On April 2, a drone attack hit a hospital in #Sudan, killing 10 people, during a children’s vaccination campaign. In #Gaza, @msf.ca faces critical shortages of medicines, supplies, and equipment. Aid trucks remain blocked, and no supplies have entered since January. #Easter #GoodFriday #Passover

🤔 Is it just me, or are we all scrolling past stories of what’s being done to women & girls while perpetrators are known yet never held accountable? In #Darfur, 97% of survivors treated by @msf.ca describe perpetrators as armed men acting with complete impunity. More➡️https://tinyurl.com/k62e7dnc

#Canada’s international aid is not meant to act as a trade strategy. People deserve care because they are human. Not because they trade something, produce something, or benefit our markets. #RandeepSarai #IDW2026

“The biggest impact is not going to be on aid organizations. The biggest impact is going to be on the Palestinian people,” says @sana.msf.ca, our Executive Director. Israel’s withholding of NGO registrations could end MSF’s operations in #Gaza by March 1: ca.news.yahoo.com/gaza-aid-und...

ca.news.yahoo.comGaza aid under threat: Canadian NGOs warn humanitarian system could collapse as Israel withholds registrationsNGOs provide lifesaving medical care, food and rehabilitation services in Gaza and the West Bank. That could end March 1.

#Access is what allows #journalists to bear witness. It allows aid workers to deliver care. When both journalists & aid orgs lose access— you should be deeply, deeply concerned.

Last night, government forces bombarded an @msf.ca hospital in South Sudan. This is part of an alarming and dangerous pattern: 🚨 Attacks on healthcare are becoming normalized in conflict zones. Pay attention. Demand accountability. #NotATarget

Palestinians in #Gaza already face a brutal winter, destroyed homes & barely functioning healthcare. If @msf.ca is expelled, the impact will be devastating. We remain committed to dialogue with #Israel. We remain focused on returning attention to where it belongs: the catastrophic needs in #Gaza.

Medevacs from space are now a reality. NASA just evacuated sick astronauts from orbit back to Earth. If we can organize a medical evacuation from outer space, #Israel can certainly organize safe, timely evacuations for critically ill @msf.ca patients in #Gaza.

#Israel has denied registration to international medical humanitarian aid organizations in #Gaza. This is not some administrative detail. It is a death sentence for civilians already being dehumanized in every possible way. @msf.ca

I've been thinking about this topic for a long time and I'm really excited to have finally gotten to do an episode about it! @tammam.bsky.social speaks with @sana.msf.ca and @pollypw.bsky.social about whether humanitarianism has a marketing problem. 🎧: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

podcasts.apple.comHow to make people care? Emergency aid's marketing problem | Rethinking HumanitarianismPodcast Episode · The New Humanitarian · 10/30/2025 · 1h

⚠️The start of a #ceasefire (already violated) is not the end to accountability or outrage. Here's what I find absolutely abhorrent as I sift through our @msf.ca data: Over 2 million Palestinians being forced into 13% of #Gaza- a patch of land so small that the scale of suffering is catastrophic.

Imagine if all of us in #Toronto were crammed into an area 6x smaller than the city with no protection, sanitation or hospitals. Or if the entire pop of #Chicago were squeezed into 1/3rd the area of #Manhattan. Or if all ppl in #Brussels were jammed into a few neighborhoods, exposed to the elements.

@msf.ca data shows diseases directly linked to these poor living conditions-- these account for 70% of outpatient consultations in our clinics. The only responsible course of action? It's not complicated. ⚡We need an immediate, massive scale-up of humanitarian aid & access. We need it NOW.

Human rights should never be conditional. In #Gaza, 2 yrs of systematic dehumanization through a brazen genocide has denied civilians the even the most basic necessities. This week, our @msf.ca teams resumed medical + water activities in Gaza City. Here's what we've done:

➡️ Reopened our wound care clinic, which has received hundreds of patients, most with trauma-related injuries that went untreated for weeks. ➡️ Restarted water trucking, delivering safe drinking water daily. ➡️ Continuing remote support for local hospitals, through incentives, supplies, + fuel.

This is nowhere near enough, but it's a start. Reclaiming even fragments of humanity in a place where it’s been stripped away is what keeps us going. 📣 Because access to water, to care, to dignity--these should never depend on politics, nor on who the world decides is human enough to deserve them.

#GAZA: We've been living now through years of brazen undermining of agreed upon global norms and conventions such as international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. Should it come as any surprise that the definition of a ceasefire has become meaningless as well? ⬇️

Just in from #Gaza: Morten Rostrup, emergency doctor, working inside Al-Aqsa Hospital, describes receiving dozens of wounded after the Israeli airstrikes across the #GazaStrip yesterday It killed more than 45 people and injured over 150, according to the Ministry of Health.
