Yesterday, the San Diego City Council Budget Committee voted unanimously to move forward on dropping Flock and modifying City ordinance to ban ALPR! We thank Foster, Elo-Rivera, Lee, and Moreno for their votes. We need ONE MORE VOTE to overcome the Mayor's promised veto! Phone numbers in 🧵

Call, visit, act up! Reach out to SD Councilmembers who haven't rejected Flock yet. Tell them why you need Flock dropped. Ask their position. Let them know you’ll remember. D1 LaCava (619) 236-6611 D2 Campbell (619) 236-6622 D5 von Wilpert (619) 236-6655 D7 Campillo (619) 236-6677

Councilmember Henry Foster *stood up* and *spoke out* against Flock. In Dec 2025, he said no to Flock. He followed through in June by voting to defund Flock and move $2 million towards essential services. Henry Foster shows us how a leader speaks out and acts up to create safety for everyone.

August 16-22 is the National Week of Action Against ALPRs. Join us and fight back. Sunday, canvass City Heights. Wednesday, tell SD City Council why they should shut down ALPR. Friday, hear from Austin and LA organizers at Safety in Unity 2026. Details in thread below... 🧵

City Heights Neighborhood Canvassing Sunday, August 16, 11am-2pm Cafeina Cafe, 4011 46th St Walk City Heights with us! Share Know Your Rights info and let the community know where ALPR/Flock cameras are spying on our community. All materials provided. Wear comfy shoes!

SDPD jailed the wrong person for several weeks based on Flock ALPR. Flock has led to wrongful accusation elsewhere, and now it happened here. Tell City Council and @MayorToddGloria not a cent more for for Flock! timesofsandiego.com/crime/2026/0... #surveillance #sandiego

timesofsandiego.comA Flock license plate reader linked a San Diego man to a violent crime. He was five miles away.A San Diego man spent one month in jail for a crime he didn't commit, after San Diego Police misinterpreted a hit from a license plate reader.

Join community on Monday May 4th (today!) at the City of San Diego’s Evening Budget Hearing to tell the City what you want funded instead of Flock smart streetlights. With arts and children's services chopped, there's so much more to want than surveillance 6pm at 202 C Street, SD City Hall, 12th fl

In materials reviewed by 404, a Flock employee stated "You're going to be able to access data and jump from LPR to person and understand what that context is, link to other people that are related to that person by marriage or through gang affiliation, et cetera..."

Beryl Lipton of @eff explains "for police, the definition of what is considered 'open source' has really expanded to include information to which no one should have ever had access. Our health data, our financial records, or any of our other digital data is hacked and ends up on the internet."

Flock Nova is a "platform [that] integrates police departments' investigative data." More startlingly, it "gives SDPD access to 'open source intelligence' [data scraped and bought online] and data from other law enforcement agencies" according to the SDPD Flock contract.

Show up to San Diego City Council Thursday, April 30 at 5:30pm @ San Diego City Hall (12th floor). The Privacy Advisory Board votes ONCE A YEAR on Flock ALPR, Smart Streetlights & more. Tell the Board: NO RUBBER STAMPS. PAB needs to hear from the community. #alpr #flock

The PAB was created to protect our privacy. But police have been heavily lobbying them to take a weak, passive approach to Flock license plate readers and other concerning surveillance tech. 💛 Make it personal 🔨 Tell how surveillance affects you 🛑 Demand accountability

Flock left 60 Condor AI-people tracking cameras open to the internet. @404mediaco reports cameras can zoom in close enough to read your cell phone screen. San Diego has not said it has these cameras, but it shows (again) Flock as sloppy and creepy. www.404media.co/flock-expose...

Leaders and community spoke truth at our press conference this week. "The SD police officer that led this initiative, that led bringing this technology to the city of SD, is now an employee of Flock. There is something extremely wrong with how this was done." Councilmember Henry Foster

"We feel betrayed b/c the police are supposed to provide safety for our community, but by using this tech they are only causing more pain and suffering to our people, not only for the migrant families kidnapped by ICE terrorists, but to the entire community" Yolanda Menezes, ACCE

Are people wondering why Flock is so terrible and out of control as a company? Here's a one pager you can share around too: docs.google.com/document/d/e...

Flock does not reduce crime, despite the dramatic one-off-story. Flock has failed to provide independent studies that verifies their research on ALPR’s effectiveness. Yet Flock scans everybody. Expected glitches can lead to dangerous false detentions www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlHL...
