People say abolish ICE, abolish the police, but as long as the system that created and allows them to act collectively with impunity is still functioning we will continue to see these problems generation after generation

“When the man becomes more oppressive he only heightens revolutionary fervor. So if things get worse for oppressed people they will feel the need for revolution and resistance. The people make revolution; the oppressors, by their brutal actions, cause resistance by the people.”

Officially less than 10% left in “Crime and Punishment” 😭😭 my current thought is that I feel more accomplished to have read it than happy that I did. It was fairly solid. The philosophical commentary was my favorite but quite a few parts dragged on with seemingly endless dialogue 😩 #booksky

“I have seen the destruction of the daylight, and seen bloodthirsty maggots prayed to and saluted. I have seen the kind become the blind and the blind become the bind in one easy lesson.” #Assata

“I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.“ -Dr. MLK Jr

“‘The Press in this country, as in any other country, can be a tremendous carrier of goodwill if it so wishes, or, it can just as easily follow a policy of racial division and all that policy entails…”

I’ve spent the last few years finding my love of reading again, but in the new year I want get back to watching films. Finally got around to watching “Malcolm X,” and I feel that old passion for film resurfacing

Started “The Wall” by Marlen Haushofer, and I’ve been enjoying my time. There are some similar themes between it and “I Who Have Never Known Men,” but I like the exploration of someone who reached adulthood in the real world before being forced into surreal state #booksky

Love how the FBI can work to take down a sports betting gambling ring that’s been operating for several years but can’t coordinate a takedown of those on the Epstein list 🧐🧐 I’m not surprised but still…

Claim: 10 cars rammed ICE Truth: No cars rammed ICE Claim: She boxed ICE in Truth: ICE boxed her in Claim: She shot a rifle at ICE Truth: She did not have a rifle Claim: ICE returned fire Truth: Only ICE fired Claim: She drove herself to the hospital Truth: Paramedics found her

✨Reading Update✨ Last month was one of my favorites of the year 🙌🏾 I’ve been working on Crime and Punishment for a minute now. It’s my first full length Russian Lit, so I’ve been pacing myself through. Within the first chapter of Assata I could tell it was going to be an all time fave #booksky 📚💙

It’s official: AIPAC is trying to buy my election to keep me out of Congress. Apparently, I’m a “dangerous detractor”... by believing Palestinians (like myself and my family) deserve basic human rights. But we’re not going to let AIPAC win.
