Yesterday, we witnessed the people of Serbia and Brazil reject corrupt, violent authoritarianism and embrace democracy. Broad-based, pro-democracy movements – just like the one we’ve been building here in the U.S. – have the power to topple regimes. There is hope.

Here’s how this works: big corporations and billionaires are “donating” tens of millions of dollars to Trump’s White House ballroom project as a way to buy his favor – and Trump is more than happy to oblige. The whole thing is a corrupt, dirty scheme. It needs to end.

washingtonpost.comDemocrats press for more information about newly revealed ballroom donorsSens. Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut) and Elizabeth Warren (Massachusetts) described the donations as a form of influence peddling.

I met with these local leaders with Team ENOUGH, Brady United’s youth-led initiative focused on educating and mobilizing young people to stop gun violence. We must end the gun violence epidemic and protect future generations from this unnecessary trauma.

Every day the Trump Administration shows us who they really are: the villains. This is so inhumane, cruel, and twisted. And the only thing Republicans in Congress have done is give blank checks to DHS and the Pentagon to support this shit.

I was so happy to meet these 5th, 6th, and 7th graders in the Rise Up Leadership Academy and answer their questions about Congress! This program supports at-risk youth to help them thrive in school and become leaders in their community while avoiding gang involvement.

U.S. citizen Ricardo Gonzalez was brutally detained by ICE in Long Beach while he yelled for help and said his arm was broken. This is a pattern of abuse and violence from ICE. No one is safe and our communities are being terrorized. We need ICE out.

abcnews.comUS citizen injured during ICE detainment in Long Beach, California, officials sayCalifornia Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia, whose district includes Long Beach, called the incident "incredibly disturbing" and said the man is a U.S. citizen.

This week, I volunteered with Mama’s Kitchen, which provides free meals to San Diegans at risk of malnutrition due to critical illnesses – including several hundred veterans. This work is so important to making sure our community is fed and no one slips through the cracks.

It was such a pleasure to visit Ms. Castro’s second grade class at Chesterton Elementary School in Linda Vista! About half of the students at this school come from military families, and they had great questions about my job in Congress and our federal government.

I joined our local and federal officials to talk about the progress we’ve made to address the Tijuana River Valley crisis. We’re all committed to seeing this crisis through and finally solving it.

We need guardrails on AI, NOW. Competition with China is no excuse for letting AI run rampant when people’s life savings are at risk and as I wrote in my op-ed, building AI systems that are actually safe and trustworthy IS our competitive advantage. www.newsweek.com/rep-jacobs-w...

It was great to visit and help build one of the tiny homes in El Cajon that’s helped dozens of women and children experiencing homelessness find stability and a path to permanent housing. We need more creative solutions like these to help people get housed.

The average family in CA-51 has paid over $6,500 more for housing, grocery, health care, gas and utilities under President Trump. It’s not a coincidence and it wasn’t inevitable – it’s a result of his (terrible) policy choices.

Dropping the “Mother of all Bombs” on Iran will likely fail to achieve meaningful military objectives – and create civilian casualties due to its blast radius. It’s a bad idea by any metric. Trump should end the war, but that won’t happen by dropping more bombs.

cnn.comUS considering using ‘Mother of All Bombs’ against Iran, sources say | CNN PoliticsThe US military has developed new strike plans that include potentially using the so-called “mother of all bombs” to target Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites should President Donald Trum...

The Pentagon is trying to avoid accountability, but I won’t let them. I passed an amendment through the House to require the Pentagon to share its report of the Iran school strike with Congress and the public – and I will keep working until it’s law.

The sailors and Marines on the USS Abraham Lincoln are thankfully home, but our oversight isn’t over. We need answers and accountability to prevent this crisis from happening again – especially for our service members who are still fighting Trump’s war in Iran.

npr.orgThe USS Abraham Lincoln is home in San Diego, after a record deploymentNPR's Ailsa Chang talks with Rep. Sara Jacobs, D-Calif., about the return of the USS Abraham Lincoln, after some 11 months away from its home base in San Diego, including support in the Iran War.

Everything about Trump’s war – from its lack of strategy to execution to the hundreds of civilian casualties – makes Iran less likely to adhere to a deal, and undermines U.S. credibility. We need action and accountability about this trend of civilian harm.

nytimes.comDemocrats Press Pentagon on Iran Civilian DeathsA new letter from 74 lawmakers suggests that civilian casualties will become a focus of investigation if Democrats take control of Congress.

Donald Trump is putting a new trade rule in place that will raise the costs of prescription drugs for millions of Americans. The rule could also cause shipping delays or block access to some drugs entirely. If he cared, Trump could stop this immediately.

apnews.comThe cost of drugs from Canada is set to soar for millions of Americans because of a federal ruleMillions of Americans who buy cheap drugs from Canada could soon lose access due to a new customs rule.

For Stephen Miller and Donald Trump, cruelty has always been the point. ICE and DHS are continuing to blatantly break the law and Republicans in Congress are nowhere to be found. We need to stop ICE and hold this Administration accountable.

This report from the New York Federal Reserve just found that without Trump’s tariffs, the cost of many everyday items would have gone DOWN in the last year. Instead, as we all know, prices have shot up. Trump is choosing to make your life more expensive.

cnbc.comInflation on many everyday items was entirely due to tariffs, NY Fed saysTariffs added 2.9 percentage points to inflation in 67 categories of goods by February 2026, researchers at the New York Federal Reserve found.

Even though many hostages have been reunited with their loved ones, they still carry their trauma. The loss of civilians – young people at a music festival, parents and children asleep at home – left families permanently fractured. And antisemitism has risen around the world.

Every day since this tragedy, I’ve worked to end all the suffering, bring real peace and security to Israelis and Palestinians, and stop antisemitism and hatred of all kinds. I still think this is possible and will keep working until it’s a reality.

I’ve spoken directly with the FBI and military leadership: there is no increased threat to San Diego. You are safe. But what Donald Trump said last night was dangerous. This illegal war needs to end.

My constituents — including many active duty service members, veterans, and their families — are not acceptable collateral damage in Trump’s stupid war.

Trump: "With the war, it's just artificial. It's a little bit high. It's a small price to pay ... let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay."

Under Trump, toddlers are being forced to represent themselves in immigration courts – and they’re being deported when they fail to prove their asylum cases. These kids aren’t old enough to read, but they’re sitting in asylum interviews alone.

Armed Services YMCA San Diego provides affordable child care for our military families. I’m proud to have secured $2 million in federal funding to support their services and will keep fighting to make sure all of our service members have access to high-quality child care.

Trump’s stupid trade war with Canada continues. These tariffs won’t help Americans – instead they’ll just increase prices even more and hurt American businesses, who will be forced to pay these new taxes. This is all about Trump’s ego.

AI could cause massive job displacement and create a huge wealth transfer from the bottom to the top. That’s why I co-lead a bill (the AI Tax and Work Protection Act) to tax big AI companies more in order to fund programs to protect jobs and retrain workers.

We can’t “win” the AI race if no one trusts these AI systems enough to adopt them or if they hurt people who use them. We need enforceable rules that make AI systems transparent and safe – and hold these companies accountable. “Self-policing” won’t get us there.

washingtonpost.comTrump urges public to trust industry self-policing of AI technologyWashington’s concerns are at a peak after rogue AI agents probed government websites, but the White House has focused on the technology’s promise.

It was my honor to congratulate the HOPE Leadership Institute’s 2026 graduating class! These graduates are part of a new generation of Latina advocates and civic leaders in California. Can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish!
