I don't know about you all, but on other social media the trolls are out with the usual "We haven't had a king in 250 years," or "show me on the map where the king is" yada yada yada. I put up the following explainer, for all the good it will do.

You're supposed to ask people *on* the bar if you can call yourself a lawyer, not the people *at* the bar, you 🤡!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Zacharia: "A lot of the misinformation, miscommunication is around the fact that I labeled myself a lawyer. I consulted for a long time many people in the field -- 'Is it ok if I label myself a lawyer?' -- and they said, 'Absolutely. You can call yourself a lawyer. You have a JD'"

I'm going to look deeper into the timeline, but if Musk over-stayed his "special employee" status, and his comments came during or after his tenure, maybe he can be sued on a personal level. Or if the court decides he acted outside his office to defame her. www.rawstory.com/trump-comans...

👺Russell Dickert -This is the man who beat up the woman at the trump rally for opposing pedophilia. Trump says he should get away with it, but I say no one is above accountability. He was foolish to self identify. Share his name-Do not let this go🇺🇸👺

I'm not anyone that likes to body-shame or look-shame people. It's why you won't see me mocking that Dell lady. But you know, there's some people when you see them, you can just tell that the shell they wear can't contain the rot inside of them.

I stand with Ilhan!

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

🚨 IOWA SENATE SHOCKER: Josh Turek is within striking distance of flipping a seat Democrats haven’t won since 2008. Trump carried Iowa by 13 points in 2024. But anger over the economy & the Iran war has transformed the race. A Turek win would help Dems take back the Senate. Let’s finish this. #Vote

You can't build a movement unless you're there all the time.

We fight for democracy by showing up, not just where winning is easy, but where someone has been told not to even bother. I ran in one of those places, and I lost, but the next Democrat won’t have to start from scratch. Now imagine doing that in every district. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

We need to stand with our Black brothers and sisters in this moment. For too long we have fought a divided war, split into different skirmishes on the battlefield because we let ourselves be convinced that their fight was not our fight. We only win this as a unified front.

Voter roll purges in Southern states target Black communities most. That is the reality, not a theory. So we do what we have always done: ORGANIZE. Register by Oct. 5: GA, MS, LA, TN, FL, TX. #LetsGetVoteReady social.demcast.com/s/LxeOtTC0

I think we can all agree that this campaign season is not short on ads or obscene amounts of money being thrown away to "earn" votes. What it *is* short on is non-partisan, organized political debates; and the electorate suffers for it. 1/4 www.newsfromthestates.com/article/real...

...and having to stand on a stage and be asked to defend your votes for higher gas prices, higher inflation, wars of choice, attacks on people of color, and the extra judicial murders of people in our streets can't be an attractive option. 3/4

You aren't imagining it: Republicans across the country are refusing invitations to participate in *non-partisan* debates. I get it. They're all supportive, to a shameless fault, of a president whose job approval ratings have sunk to a dismal 32%. Messaging can be hard in that environment... 2/4

Not surprised that Rep. BoBo (R-OnlyFans) was caught in a sex scandal, but I'm slapping myself (oops! Phrasing!) that I was surprised it involved a couple of same sex partners.

Allegations against Lauren Boebert include sexual relations with Congressional employees, hush money payments, and thousands of dollars in misused official and campaign funds. Here's the redacted complaint: media.coloradotimesrecorder.com/wp-content/u...

You would have thought RFK Jr. would have spoken out against the destruction of his uncle’s memorial. But, apparently, he doesn’t use his position to protect his own family—just hurt ours.

Part of a group that started after I cohosted the 1st #NoKings in my small WI town (had great turnout). Our group's founders include our retired mayor, a county board supervisor & our state senator, among other activists and citizens. The pushback from conservatives was immediate & sustained. 1/3

We bill ourselves as a progressive civic group while trying to stay non-partisan (as in avoiding Democratic party politics or influence), but that hasn't stopped the local haters from trying to smear us with local businesses and other civic organizations. 2/3

3/3 The support we get from the community, though, tells us that they at least see through the bullshit. It also tells me how scared and desperate they are when they hide behind their keyboards when attacking us. To them I say, "suck a bag of dicks, assholes!"

Solid points! "Access Journalism" is all about access, and scant amounts of journalism.

Frank Conniff@frankconniff.bsky.social

So what if Trump “bans” CNN, MSNOW & POLITICO from the WH? Hearing him lie in person is the least important part of their jobs although they treat it as the most important. No journalism ever happens there. Reporting Watergate, I don’t think Woodward & Bernstein ever stepped foot in the White House.

25 years ago today, George W. Bush signed the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force into law. Barbara Lee was the only member of Congress to vote against it, warning it would be a blank check for forever wars. History has proven her lonely and courageous vote right.
