This short-sighted guidance from NHS England will add more fuel to the stigma that has been manufactured around trans and non-binary people. It won't improve care for anyone, in fact quite the opposite, it'll discourage people from seeking the healthcare that they need - inevitably causing deaths.

British HIV Association@bhiva.bsky.social

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (@bashhuk.bsky.social) and British HIV Association (BHIVA) are deeply concerned about the impact of this guidance on transgender and non-binary people, incl the risk of increased stigma, distress and barriers to accessing healthcare. Our statement:

Today marks the start of #PrideMonth here & around the world 🌍 #Pride is both a celebration of the wonderful diverse LGBTQIA+ community and how it enriches society AND it is also a reminder that we've a long way to ensure that ALL people are treated with the love and respect they deserve. 🏳️‍🌈🤝🏳️‍⚧️

Check out the new #BHIVA Rapid Guidance on re-engagement into #HIV care. Despite excellent HIV outcomes in the UK, some people with HIV disengage from care. Let's work to re-engage this group - preventing harm to the individual and supporting progress on national targets. bhiva.org/rapid-guidan...

It's great to see so many people engaging with #HIVTestingWeek across various platforms. I would ask people to consider what language they use though when discussing the topic. Here's a little thread of examples... #LanguageMatters

A person living with #HIV, who is on effective treatment, cannot pass HIV on to their sexual partners. This is known as undetectable equals untransmittable, or U=U. The first step is to #GetTested and #KnowYourStatus. This #HIVTestingWeek grab a free HIV test at startswithme.org.uk

DID YOU KNOW: There are an estimated 5200 people living with #HIV in the UK - that don't realise it? 😳 That means you could be unknowingly passing the virus on, whilst it damages your immune system 🧬 Take a FREE test this #HIVTestingWeek and take control of your health 💪 🔗 www.startswithme.org.uk

It is an opportunity to remember those who have died and those who continue to be affected. It is vital that we continue to work together towards eliminating #HIV #stigma. Organisations like #BHIVA and #BASHH will always support the HIV community in commemorating #WorldAIDSDay.

There is *no evidence* that taking paracetamol during conception, pregnancy or breastfeeding causes autism in children. It is important that pregnant people have access to safe and appropriate pain relief. For more information see the NHS statement below: www.nhs.uk/medicines/pa...

WHO statement on autism-related issues The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that there is currently no conclusive scientific evidence confirming a possible link between #autism and use of acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol) during pregnancy Full statement bit.ly/47YsgwI

In "this shouldn't need saying but here we are" news: Paracetamol, used as directed, remains safe for use during conception, pregnancy & into later life. There is NO LINK between #paracetamol and #autism. To state otherwise, so publicly, is both disingenuous and dangerous - to women especially.

Today is going to be a scorcher of a #heatwave in parts of the UK To stay safe remember to: - Seek shade - Dress lightly - Drink plenty of water - Wear SPF if you go out To keep your house cool, it may seem counterintuitive but, keep windows, curtains and blinds shut - keep the heat out.
