Since the early 2000s to get a seamless gearshift #F1 gearboxes run two selectors, one controls odd gears, the other even gears. But the gearbox needs to know the exact position of each gear, which is done by a process called 'learning' Without this, the shifts have to be slower

Another strange breakdown was #AA23 who had to stop for a loose T-camera. The camera connects to the car with two bolts onto an aluminium fixture on the roll hoop, plus the video/data connector. #F1 #F1tech

It seems #NH27 retired due to an electrical shut down, after gravel triggered the emergency 'E' pull ring. This is a 2 position switch that cuts electrical power on position 1 and sets off extinguisher on position 2. #F1 #F1tech

These fwings are getting interesting fast. The underside have strakes to build rotation into the inwash caused by the wing elements. A raised leading edge is followed by a closing tunnel, increasing the pressure delta under the footplate powering these strakes. This rotation likely merges dstream

Interesting (not new or unique) cooling panel on McLaren Usually its an open hole in the sidepod with louver/blanking plates added. The MCL40 has louvers moulded in, then blankings added to manage cooling. This might be heavier, but creates a stiffer panel. #F1 #F1tech #MonacoGP

Hidden away on the @FIAFormulaE car is the DCDC. There's no alternator, so voltage from the 900v battery is stepped down to 12v 24v 48v. Powering the powertrain pumps, BBW, ECU and general electrical systems. All the 5v sensors are powered by the ECU. @ABBgroupnews
