Car rental agencies: If you return a car with anything less than a full tank of gas, we will take you for everything you're worth. Also car rental agencies: Here's an electric car with a 20% charge! Enjoy!

My elder daughter has been doing fencing for 6 years. Now the younger daughter is begging for archery lessons. I suppose it *would* be nice to have both a melee and ranged expert in the party.

I want to see a movie that is the exact opposite of Slumdog Millionaire, in which a guy keeps running into situations in real life that require him to use the knowledge he got wrong on a game show.

My 11 year old was upset because she visited a firehouse with Girl Scouts and one of the firemen said he was a horrible cook and he was more of a sous chef and my daughter said "So you're so horrible they sue you?"

But the fireman thought she misunderstood him and started to explain what a sous chef was, when in fact she knew perfectly well what a sous chef was and was just trying to make a pun. "He completely missed it!" she said to me, exasperated. I've been there, kid. I've been there.

I came home and my daughter was working on drawing a giant Fibonacci spiral. She had taped a bunch of pieces of graph paper together and said she had been at it for two hours. I asked her why she had done this and she said "No reason." On a scale of 1 to Uzumaki, how concerned should I be?

Tchaikovsky: And then Clara falls asleep and is attacked by a mouse king and there's a huge battle and the Nutcracker sacrifices himself to save her and then is brought back to life and they live happily ever after! Financier: And in Act II? Tchaikovsky: Oh, uh, umm...big dance party I guess?

What's funny is, I can't imagine the current administration erupt in applause in cheers over what they can give to the American people. I can only imagine them cheering over what they can take away.

America Is Divided@petrep.bsky.social

The moment when 30 million American's received healthcare (2010) The moment when insurance companies had to start covering preexisting conditions, young adults could stay on their family's policy and I could trust that the small print couldn't screw me if I needed serious medical assistance. 🇺🇸

There are three original shows on Apple TV+ that are all five letters starting with S. The shows, starring Colin Ferrell, Tarin Egerton, and Owen Wilson, together form a crossword clue for CANDY CIGARETTE. What are the three shows?

I'm thinking of a famous sports figure. Their first initial plus their last name make a country. The capital of that country can be reparsed as a multi-word phrase that one might say regarding the sports figure. What is that phrase? (It's not a real phrase, but you'll know it when you've got it.)

We had three 12-13 year old boys at our house on Friday and my wife didn't know how much tweenage boys eat when ordering dinner and now we have enough Chinese food for a week. I think she was using her brother (who was basically a human vacuum as a child) as a reference point.

My wife (family practice doctor) told me she got 100% patient satisfaction last month for the first time. That's 10/10 in every category from every patient polled. I don't even know how that's possible.

I enjoyed Flow greatly. That said, it had a comically ridiculous number of company logos before it began. I started actively groaning to make my kids laugh when I thought it was close to being done, and then there were like 5 more.

Just played an amazing Connections game against Shrug Emoji. The first three rounds were a perfect combination of our team's strengths, and we were up 11 points going into the fourth round...and got completely walloped. Ended up winning 28-24. Good vibes throughout.

I enjoy OQL, but sometimes the stress of something resting entirely on your shoulders makes it feel like work. COQL is always fun...winning, losing, doesn't matter. And it always feels like playing as part of a team actually matters.
