There is only one other family in this McDonald's Play Place, and they are eating in absolute, complete silence. It is the most unnerving thing ever.

Aww, this is cute!

Early on in my career, I was always keeping an ear to the ground, trying to find an in at BioWare. It was my north star. Utterly sad an surreal to see this. Best of luck to the talented people impacted.

Churned my own butter for the first time. Pros: Whimsical, tasty! Cons: Churnable cream is only available at the two most expensive grocery stores.

Following up this with, in perfect contrast, the absolute worst honey container in history.

For the last few months, I've been extolling the virtues of honey in squeeze bags to anyone who visits my kitchen. I feel it's the best honey innovation in decades.

Worst performance: Either Callina Liang as Chun-Li or Mel Jarnson as Cammy. Again, all the women in this were so out-of-character and were basically directed as "overly emotional". Most male screenwriter-coded movie I've seen in a while.

Best lookalike: 50 Cent as Balrog. One-to-one, no notes. He should also play Mike Tyson whenever that biopic eventually comes out.

I would have loved more sincerity in a lot of scenes, instead of trying to go for the cheap laugh (especially when a weird number of them were just "no homo" jokes).

Best performance: Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim. A bit of a smaller role, but dude is very compelling. Gives perfect Dhalsim vibes, and doesn't come off offensively on what could be a very offensive character.

Is this a good movie? No. Is it so bad it's good? Also kinda no. Is it the best live-action Street Fighter movie? Yeah, maybe.

I will say, I appreciate that it is - generally - not ashamed of being what it is. It leans into the goofy mechanics/visuals. However, I wish it was less ashamed of its emotional core.

-Why go with a 1993 setting if you're going to immediately be inundated with anachronisms? -Why make the setting a nod to Metro City and not just make it Metro City? -Why give none of the women characters their actual personality? -WHY DOES HALF OF THE CAST SNIFF/SMELL THE OTHERS?

Man, this is tragic, especially if the (unconfirmed) reports of suicide are true. RJ was doing a lot of advocacy work for more opportunities for those with disabilities, and I always appreciated seeing his interviews. RIP.

As was the style at the time, I had uploaded the Machinarium soundtrack to YouTube...let's see...17 years ago?! Jeez. Anyway, the sequel announcement has finally made it joyful experience to look at my YouTube comment notifications.

It seems like this is heavily skewed towards things you say about yourself in reviews, because it lists a bunch of my various jobs, as per old "...as a [random occupation]" novelty reviews.

The Resident Evil movie was a lot of fun, and more comedic than I expected. I appreciate that it was more a thematic rather than a plotline adaptation. Having said that, it'd been funny if Leon Kennedy showed up, parried a chainsaw, and then Bryan was just as afraid of him as any of the monsters.

What a ridiculous weekend it's been. We have to drop our most promising babysitter candidate because she was forbidden from going to a stranger's house and had her phone taken away for over a day by her police officer mother. Also, I should note that this candidate was in her mid-20s.

Was talking to my wife about Coyote vs Acme and I realized the best way I can describe why I like it is that it feels like a pre-9/11 movie.

Did that dialect quiz, and in addition to it basically clocking me exactly, it's interesting how much West Coast linguistic unity there is. ✊

Just saw a suggested Reddit post that was like, "What's the morality of killing your cheating partner's lover in front of them to teach them a lesson?" And, like, 95% comments were like, "Not moral; it's only moral for you to kill your partner."

I was literally just showing this image to a coworker yesterday about what the current game industry's pattern of "release game, immediately die" felt like, and then today the 2XKO news dropped.

I love how aggressive verification code texts have become: "We will NEVER ask you for your personal information, or anything, EVER! This message is a SCAM! Go AWAY and never come BACK! Your verification code is 266016."

Gonna start replacing "what do you do?" when meeting other white guys my age with "what's your podcast's name?" and then acting nonplussed when they say they don't have one.

I like to imagine this has nothing to do with Iran, and was instead some sitcom setup where he tried to sneak in an extra meal without getting caught.

I've been quiet on socials for a while, mainly because my son was viciously attacked by a kid twice his size and age at his summer program. It was especially difficult because he can't give words to his feelings, so I've been in a bit of a funk. But thankfully, he's fully physically recovered.

My biggest workplace quirk is that I find myself exclusively using the expression "quick question" before the longest question you've ever seen.

One of my more reasonable conspiracy theories is that these types of videos are specifically made in service of having more inexpensive food products deemed ineligible for food stamps.

I've been quiet for various and sundry reasons, but unrelated to everything, my neighbor cut down a tree, so I used that to make an anvil setup in my backyard.

My most controversial linguistic take is that the pronunciation of "W" can, will, and *should* evolve to just "dub" within the next century.

My hottest Star Wars take is that regardless of the show's quality, "The Clone Wars" ended up being the worst thing to happen to the franchise.

I admit that I was a little giddy when Saw Gerrera made a cameo in Rogue One in 2016, but it's been ten years of doing that, and at this point, I am just exhaling in frustration any time there's an obvious "Hey, look who it is!" moment in one of the new shows and movies.

I recognize that the Glup Shittos themselves have been called out for years, but I think it's worth coming to the realization that they're just the symptom, and The Clone Wars was patient zero.
