This is brilliant. Not (just) because he so skillfully took down the wanna-be love child of Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro, but because he destroyed the very core of that too-oft repeated inane question “do you disavow” [the thing I can only connect you to because of your religion, skin color, name]?

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

People need to look at this image and realize that he is just “today’s” face of a huge, well-funded machine driving this nonsense. On this trajectory, his face will be replaced by the next person’s, and the next person won’t just be a meat puppet. #NotJustPassports www.forbes.com/sites/suzann...

forbes.comTrump’s Image ‘Non-Negotiable’ On New U.S. Passport RedesignStarting in 2028, there will be no way for Americans to avoid having the president’s image grace their passports.

In other words, his celebrity is the tool that drives acceptance of everything the populace used to oppose. Since it’s coming from someone ppl “admired” for years in tabloids and on NBC, this can be sold as just a passing fad. A fart that will eventually dissipate. The shitstain lasts much longer.

This is why, even when these monsters say something that you agree with, you never, ever welcome them back. MTG, Tillis, Cornyn, Cheney, Cohen. All of them. All.

Tucker: “I never understood why 🇬🇧 fought World War 2?” 😕 Rees-Mogg: “It was good vs. evil…We did the right thing…” Tucker: “Has 🇬🇧 benefitted?” RM: “We defeated Hitler… We’d all be speaking German…” Tucker: “Who cares?” 🤔

So outside of the US, you can see the 1000s of “partners” with whom your website is sharing data with. It’s both amazing and frightening. I imagine this is available in the US as well, but likely in a way that is enormously opaque.

As we suspected:

I scrolled through hundreds of comments. Exactly one suggested raising taxes on the wealthy…and was promptly shot down by the same type of temporarily-displaced billionaire comments we see here in the US.

I worry that their electing Farage is increasingly inevitable, and fear that by the time they realize that, under a ReformUK regime, the sacrifices their grandparents and great-grandparents made to defeat the Nazis we’re all for naught, it will be too late.

Because it’s never about the outcomes. No one sticks around for the outcomes. DOGE, tariffs, abandoning allies, eliminating due process, damaging election integrity, murdering citizens 😱… It’s all just to “own” somebody and tweet about it.

The carnage is never assessed; “no one” cares by then. We will feel its effects for decades or more. All so some people could get a rise out of this horrible, and repeated, process of needless destruction.

This man has no business sniffing anywhere near the arts organizations of DC, or elsewhere. Artists and arts admins have long learned to live with donors and whims of all types. In many ways, the scene is little changed from the days of royal patronage. It’s just democratically aristocratic now.

These actions - unsurprisingly, like so many of his other actions - are so utterly reprehensible. I feel for anyone in the blast radius of this impact. And yet - and also like his other loathsome policies - there are plenty of unabashed cheers for process and headlines, if not the outcome.

Perhaps a certain recipient of tens of millions of dollars of NYC tax abatements could have be persuaded to contribute to the cultural fabric of the city, either by helping Carnegie Hall or literally any of the numerous other arts organizations in the city.

But no, there is no evidence of any support of any significance for any arts organization in NYC. It’s not like getting your wealthy name on a building in Manhattan is all that hard. In fact, the NY Phil showed they would even jettison one name for a large donation when dedicating Geffen Hall.

…couldn’t have been bothered to help save Carnegie Hall in the mid-1980s. Just down the street from his flagship buildings, Carnegie was about to be torn down before it closed for extensive renovations.

What contractor was paid to do this, and chose to complete the work in violation of a judge’s order? Who has the standing to sue them? Discovery would be very interesting. Who was pressured to do what, by whom, and for what compensation?

Does Trump have to destroy and kill things everywhere he goes, every single day? More than 60 trees have now been cut down at the historic East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. as Trump pushes ahead with

“Trump … said suppliers have agreed to sell at a 25 percent discount that will be passed on to consumers.” No one, especially anyone in the Trump orbit, sells below market price. Expect it to be tainted beef. Hell, at this point, I’d expect it to be Soylent Green. apple.news/Ao4KOnj8yTti...

The name can go up, it can come down. Unfortunately, we will have such wild policy swings, admin-after-admin, until sanity returns (if ever) to US governance. This closure extends the ongoing devastation of the national performing arts center. I grieve for the good guys harmed by this nonsense.

So, unlike last year’s posts, they didn’t manage to kidnap or kill this woman. Brave woman. Reminds me of the one in MN that fought off ICE until the whole neighborhood showed up to chase the agents away.

Aaron Fritschner@fritschner.bsky.social

Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.

I believe Clacton deserves an MP who will spend their time shining a light on everything the area has to offer. And why wait till I'm elected? I've been to visit one of the constituency's most stunning landmarks.

Trump’s last four AG nominees: - aided and comforted Ghislane Maxwell - dropped out of a multi-state fraud investigation into Trump University after receiving a campaign donation from Trump - was found to have paid a minor for sex - had a father who hired Jeffrey Epstein to be a schoolteacher

Prediction: In the end, Trump couldn’t care less. The “private donations” are likely in a “fiscally-gray” account, and Mr Money Launderer extraordinaire will find a way to walk away with the (disputed) dollars, leaving DC with a giant, gaping hole next to the WH. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

To those with loud amplifiers: Don’t call it the “Weaponization Settlement,” call it the “Insurrectionist Reparations Fund.” More accurately, and more importantly, bring greater focus on the “Tax Amnesty for Trump Family and Friends Agreement” part of it. Labels matter.

I don’t keep a huge network here. So when I see the exact same words - not quote posts, not screengrabs of a post - just a few seconds of scrolling apart, the antenna goes up. Remember that centrally-coordinated manipulation radiates in all directions, not just to and from those you disagree with.

If the clock in those towns were an hour ahead of my home time, would I even notice after a small adjustment period? Would I simply go to their concerts, plays, and games an hour “earlier” than expected and be OK with it? Would business lunches at “1130 my time/1230 your time” be so bad? 4/

It would be FINE. In Arizona, we’re constantly coordinating time with everyone else in the world, since we don’t do DST. Set time zones where they naturally belong, regardless of artificial political boundaries. People will adjust, and on balance, they will be happier with nature’s system. /end

20+ years ago, mobile phones made calling the telco for the exact time of day obsolete. They practically destroyed the need for watches outside of fashion and, later, smartwatch capabilities. Commerce is global, and for domestic-only countries, often time zone agnostic. The website works 24/7 2/

Felt very lucky to have the opportunity to go to the last All-Star Game in Philly. I flew across the country to attend with my dad. It was the last game we attended at the Vet, I think, after 10+ years of mini season ticket packages (where I recall our 200-level 1st base seats were about $16 each).
